Bugs Fixed Post From Zyler Vega

http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2222611 Thank you for posting this partial list of fixes. I assume since no one else has started a thread yet, no one must have noticed the thread. Looks like SilkTone's MIDI crosstalk bug was squished. EDIT: Oops! Looks like HumbleNoise beat me. EDIT2: For those coming late to the party. I had started a thread about the same time HumbleNoise did. The two threads were merged into one by the moderators.

Looks like a wonderful start. Once all the flaws are worked out and niceties addressed, it would be GREAT for us that bought the disk sets to be able to get a clean new set with all the updates installed so we dont have to go through the mess of installing multiple patches/updates after installing X1 when needed. They are doing an outstanding job of using all available customer information (Tech Support, Customer Service, and FORUMS) to address what they can for us. Thanks CW. Greatly appreciated!!! ;)

To me it is promising that they list the MIDI crosstalk bug as one of the fixes (only a few years late). My only concern is that this is much more than just an issue when recording from multiple inputs, but I'm hoping they either just didn't have a detailed enough description for the bug, or that the person that wrote up the list wasn't aware of how many areas this bug affects. Fingers crossed...

Well, this looks like a list of "issues" that were "fixed". Certainly. Very good. But I don't see any of the major problems with X1 as regards usability and features taken away or user preferences that are now absent addressed in this list. Hopefully they will be there as "new" (old) features.

plus we still have the X1 helper .. It looks like CW has been grinding away. many thanks to the team for burnin the midnight oil. seeing how we still have a month to go X1b might evolve into what they was planning for X2. That's a gob of fixes for a "partial list" only a couple apply to me, but regardless. thats some major coding they been doing. not just copy/paste fixing. I hope X1 will agree with my new m-box pro firewire. Has anyone heard anything else on the issue of pt9/X1 not working on the same machine?
Phenom Quad core, 8gb ram, 3.5tb of Fine Music Storage Vault Under Armed Guard w/ UAV support (air-hog chopper), set of MA-15D, Delta 10-10 pci w/interface, m-box 3 pro, projectmix I/O, Metal Pop Filters, Two SKB cases Full of Suck Removal Buttons, Cedar Walls, Stripper Pole (helps with mastering & block priceing) more stuff i'm to lazy to add. ;) P.S. good Memory foam is freakin awesome.

Hopefully they will be there as "new" (old) features. I'm grateful Zyler gave us this info, and for the fixes. I'm going to remain a tiny tiny bit skeptical for now until it's actually on my system and running ;) BUT I think what is also useful is that, due to the list given so far, it somewhat proves that those who have been having problems aren't that crazy after all. There are a lot of fixes in there (and it's an incomplete list). So I hope we can all calm down about beating up those who have had problems, and let's see how X1B holds up in the real world/field. I don't want to take away anything from the effort -- it's great to see what's coming even as a partial list. So I do hope that I, too, can go back to Sonar with some degree of stability - and confidence. And, Ol Pal, I suspect a lot of those 'usability' preferences may not come until they have X1 more stable (hopefully via X1B).

Billy I am as happy as anyone for X1b coming out and the acknowledged bugs being fixed but it seems that its the other way around when it comes to who is beating up on whom. Or at least its fairly even.

Looks promising ..... so far ...... I also realize this is an incomplete list ....... there are however several big ticket areas still missing - all the Pro Channel issues - all the missing MCU / Controller menu functionalities - stabilty, stability, stabilty - non-changeable / non-customizable menus - the almost complete removal of 8.5.3 toolbars - standalone Pro Channel VST components ..... these are just some that pop in to mind as I type .......the list goes on ..... still ...... X1B is still some 4 - 6 weeks aways so I hope / trust that the above list triples /quadruples in size [ I might be overstating it somewhat now ] by "release day". No two ways about it ........ X1B is going to be a watershed release for a lot of us. Tim

This list helps confirm two ideas in my mind ...... 1) I am a strong Cakewalk fan, because they do indeed work hard to make their products good and fix problems. 2) But ... this is also why I never, never, never am on the front lines to jump into ANY company's brand new version of anything. I would rather sit back for 6 months to a year, let all the wrinkles get ironed out and then get a nice clean install pack instead of a Ver.1.0 install.exe and a half dozen patch fixes (not to mention aggravation and headaches).

FreezeStudio Did not see any words about The VS700R/C ?? update Take a look on the VS700 forums. Someone from their dev team chimed in to assure members they are working on those updates, and if I read correctly, will also provide an update in March. The two will likely come hand in hand. The fixes for the VS700 and Sonar X1 are two sided fixes.

X1B may actually be usable!

X1B may actually be usable! Good News! from: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2222611 Re: For the SONAR X1a Patch, please see here: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=2007013216 For the X1a Hotfix, please see here: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=2007013217 First off, I want to say that the list below is not complete – if you do not see something you were looking for, please do not be alarmed! There are more fixes already implemented than are currently listed in this post and as time progresses I’ll continue to update the list with more information. In many ways SONAR X1 was a major upgrade from 8.5 and with it came new issues. The X1a patch addressed many of these issues as soon as possible, but with X1b we have had the time to listen to our customers - from these forums, problem reports, Customer and Technical Support calls, distributors, etc. Some of the things we've focused for this patch are Snap Settings, AudioSnap, and V-Vocal, among other areas - issues that we've been seeing users have trouble with. We want every type of user to have a good experience with SONAR and ultimately find themselves able to make music without roadblocks. Our developers have been hard at work since the release of X1a and we are taking the necessary time to thoroughly test this patch. SONAR X1b is currently scheduled for release in March. Thank you all for your patience! (Incomplete) list of issues addressed in SONAR X1b: - Fixed an issue where ASIO devices could be lost.
- Fixed an issue in the PRV causing 'Grid Resolution > Follow Snap Settings' to be unavailable.
- Fixed an issue where Groove Clip looping of a MIDI clip could cause Inspector fields to disappear.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting automation data.
- Fixed an issue with key-bindings and no project open.
- Fixed an issue preventing Freeze commands from being key bindable.
- Fixed AudioSnap quantize.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when scrolling.
- Fixed an issue causing 'Preview at Host Tempo' to not work properly with REX and Acidized wav files.
- Big Time color will now persist properly.
- Fixed an issue with recording from multiple MIDI controllers simultaneously (MIDI crosstalk bug).
- Fixed an issue causing the Track View to suddenly scroll.
- Fixed an issue where Follow Transport enabled in the Matrix View would disable bounce and export commands.
- Fixed an issue causing the EQ module’s Enable button to not be hidden properly (Studio and Essential only)
- Fixed an issue with Snap when Musical settings are disabled.
- Accessibility: Now able to bring focus to right side of Inspector using a PC keyboard.
- Accessibility: Various strings updated.
- Fixed a layout issue in the Volume module of the Console View.
- Fixed an issue causing MDI windows to block Multidock hitzone.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when closing a project.
- “Allow Only One Open Project at a Time” setting now works correctly.
- It is now possible to open the Clip Properties panel of the Inspector by double-clicking a Clip.
- Fixed an issue causing FX chain to move position when Properties page is open and the FX chain is bypassed.
- D key now minimizes and restores the MultiDock when it is floating.
- Fixed various capitalization inconsistencies between parameter names
- Fixed an issue causing Track Templates to load without folders and other data.
- Fixed an issue causing the original BPM of Groove clips to not show in the Clip Properties panel.
- Fixed an issue preventing effects plug-ins from remaining docked in the MultiDock.
- AudioSnap Set Project Tempo from Clip is now functioning.
- Fixed a potential crash that could occur when changing time durations of a V-Vocal clip.
- Fixed a potential crash that could occur when removing a V-Vocal clip.
- Fixed a potential crash that could occur when adjusting a V-Vocal clip.
- Addressed an error with looping V-Vocal clips.
- Included several general stability improvements when working with V-Vocal.
- Grid Resolution > Follow Snap Settings is now working properly in the Piano Roll View.
