I wish I could jump on board but alas... I'm too broke. Maybe in a week or so (hopefully the bonus will still be available), but thrn again, it may be shipped by then! ;-)

Tho I still find 8.5.3 to be more to my liking and workflow speed, many of the new changes/additions have grown on me and I'm using X1 dy default (it only took 1.5 years! ;-))... Now the release of X2 seems to add more things to like and hopefully some things to adjust the X1-style behavior to be more palatable to me... There seem to be many MIDI related things so I'm hoping.... The issues of opening PRV to always find everything selected is still driving me mad! As well as the duality between locating and opening PRV (dbl-click) as I continue to open the PRV and find myself at the wrong location... I understand the logic to this action but continue to find it extremely annoying...

I now use the PC as default quite happily and have limited need of other plugins... So I'm feeling that the new PC chains to finally fix the trouble of the split locations for plugins.... that will open things even more.

With all good thoughts and hopes in mind, I would like to give Kudos to the Bakers at the refinement of their' new flagship... At first exposure it sounds as tho they are developing it well.... Here's hoping they also deal with these old issues in as graceful a time/manner! ;-)

Many Thanks! I hope to be ordering soon!

I can wait as the upgrade price will remain at $99.00 USD. And I already have high quality orchestral instruments. To tell you the truth, I'm disappointed that the bonus for early adopters is an external string library. I expected at least a Pro Channel module..., a never been seen before PC module. I'm not complaining since I got all PC modules including the Softube bundle on special, and they have and will continue to serve me very well. But this special is unfortunately not a special for me, and others in the same situation. I might just have to go and drown my sorrows with Fabfilter's Saturn. C'est la vie.

Note: For those without a string library, it's worth your while IMHO.

Addition: Oh..., how about giving us a choice of either the DSF string library or a couple of cakewalk coffee mugs? I'd upgrade right away!

Just watched the webinar. It's gonna happen this week. This really is the place X1 was destined to be. If the other DAW companies aren't paying attention to what's happening with this release I think they might have a real problem in coming years. The Skylight and the PC are now young adults and ready to do donuts on your front lawn. Hopefully the Bakers can now aim their sights on some of the bare threads and X3 will dominate the landscape.

Re:X2 Pre-Sale; Who's All In? 2012/09/06 22:04:34 (permalink)

I just watched (most of) the video... My internet connection crapped out and now I'd have to download the 1:10 already watched a second time.... I can't handle it...

But, first let me say, Wow! I'm very impressed with the demo that Brandon and Seth gave... It certainly covered many if most most of the bases and it appears that they've cleanup up and enhanced so many issues that I'd pay the upgrade for almost any one of them!

Too bad I'm broke right now, but I expect to be ordering it before the 9/30 deadline for sure! The new snap and auto-zoom will relieve a huge amount of click intensive labor if it works for even 1/2 the situations I run into...

I'm both excited and relieved as I was so disappointed with X1 for so long...

Great work gang! Kudos to the Bakers for sure!

Keni

Re:X2 Pre-Sale; Who's All In? 2012/09/06 22:34:07 (permalink)
I am getting ready to upgrade but I cannot decide if I want to add the TH2 full version for 99 bucks. After watching the webinar I was impressed at how this version will speed things up in my work flow. I think the zoom tool and the new snap options are great. R mix looks great to.

In the Webinar they said that the studio version of TH2 does not contain the pedal effects, but the producer version of TH2 does. So my question is this. What is the difference between the Producer version and the full version? Now I am thinking about waiting before I upgrade to TH2 to see if I can spot the difference. I was going to spend the 99.00 for the upgrade to TH2, but now I want to know what that buys.

Still going to upgrade to X2 soon

I wish I could jump on board but alas... I'm too broke.
It's a great deal if you have a 10 billion Jiggawatt internet connection to download the entire kit and kabootle. What is it with X2PE and the Free Strings ... over 10GB's?

But for the 90% of us who don't have broadband ... we are punished by not being able to cash in on the deal at all even if we wanted to ... or we get slammed an extra $30 bucks to get the DVD's ... and still can't get the strings.

Thanks guys ... and you wonder why I'm grumpy all the time! LOL

I'm getting in on this one.  As someone said, at $99 this is almost a no-brainer.  Great deal especially with all of the features, stream lined workflow, and the console emulation.  It really looks like the bakers have listened and implemented many of the requests.  Really looks nice.I'm also getting the TH2 full version upgrade.

I am not, however, excited at all about the DSF Strings.  I already have much better strings libraries available, but if it is all you got, I guess it isn't bad.  Might use it for quick dry runs to get ideas down for creative first drafts, but then put Garritan or Miroslav or Kirk Hunter in once the mix comes together; it should have much lower CPU and memory demand than Kirk Hunter String Library and would load much faster as well.  So, perhaps it will find some place in the creative process.  As others have noted, it would have been nicer to have had an option or a choice between it and some other deal (like Neal Peart drums--now that would have been nice).

Those of us with broadband are paying $40-50 per month for it.

"Bud"
we are punished by not being able to cash in on the deal at all even if we wanted to ...

With all the problems you faced with X1, I'm surprised you would even consider early adoption for X2.
