skullsession Truckermusic What a very nice set up there Sir!!!! Did you make all your traps? They look good. Clifford Yes...I dove in and made them myself. Really quite simple once you figure out the particular way that works for your setup. And, of course, it's so much cheaper. The thought of doing it was much more daunting than the actual task. And so rewarding in all aspects of tracking/mixing. I've got to do something like that here...thanks for the idea!!

Truckermusic One questions sir.... What is machine sitting on.....and is it stable when you tap in you beats? I love the way you have machine sitting right behind your Kore controller.>.!! That is exactly what I want to do only I need something to set Machine on! Thanks Clifford Hey Clifford - I have my Maschine on a laptop stand: http://www.amazon.com/Allsop-29528-Redmond-Notebook-Stand/dp/B000Q8SEFO It's very stable, stays in place (rubber bottom), and the angle is very adjustable.

On a more serious note it's a Peavey Milestone, which happened to be the cheapest one I could find in a shop about 10 or 12 years ago. It's nothing special but it serves it's purpose which was to allow me to put bass lines down. Any of my songs that use real bass have it on if you want to hear how it sounds. I DI it straight into the board and go from there. That'll be on account of not having a bass amp....... JJ would be jealous.....

deved.com I keep it simple:
As much as I dig those pictures in this thread and as much as I'm inclined to gear lust, the plans for my next home studio really don't include much hardware. Anyway, I don't work well in clutter. So it's cool to see setups that are a bit more minimalistic.

I would give up every other instrument I have before I would give up my Yamaha Grand. I have a fantastic keyboard tech that has worked on it over time for many hours and made it just a great instrument to play. In a perfect world I could use it as a midi controller because I can play way more expressively on it than any other keyboard I own. No mod or pitch bend wheel though! Sadly the room I have it in is just not set up for recording at all. I don't have a studio just a house :-) Ken

lol Gearslutz material. I have minimal gear but maximum amount of what I need to track, mix AND master a track. So many people have talked about how a treated room and decent monitors and decent signal chain going in, combined with today's technology software wise )Sonar and plugins) is all ya need if you can make the skillz happen. I have found this VERY true. I spent about $700 for materials for the bass traps and a little over 20 hours labor, and I dont regret it one bit. So much easier to mix with a treated room. I need to add a sub woofer to my spot though! With my Gauge mic and Eureka preamp, i really get a sweet signal going in. Lance

Lance Hey speaking of sub-woofers....I am wondering how I can integrate a sub-woofer into my setup. I have two channel stereo output from the Octa-Capture. It has four output pairs which is good. I put my main out into the input of my amplifier. Not sure how to get a sub-woofer into this however. Any ideas welcome. Ken

It would be nice if we could all build the perfect workspace-recording-editing-mastering room. but then we'd all sound the same. I'd invest in some sound foam on the walls and ceiling around that grand piano. And block off the air vent when you're recording. Place those mics pointing down into the string chamber and put a 12" X 12" peice of 2" pyramid foam just back of the head of the mics. You don't want to record the room, just the space within it filled with sound. Refining the recording process is bigger than any of us thought it was when we started this journey. We're still learning, still refining, still growing.
