What a bunch of great spaces.

What are the huge monitors?
Are they TVs? Does that work. That whole thing confuses me. I'd love a big a** monitor like TV size but I thought there was a problem doing that?????

It would be nice if we could all build the perfect workspace-recording-editing-mastering room. but then we'd all sound the same. I'd invest in some sound foam on the walls and ceiling around that grand piano. And block off the air vent when you're recording. Place those mics pointing down into the string chamber and put a 12" X 12" peice of 2" pyramid foam just back of the head of the mics. You don't want to record the room, just the space within it filled with sound. Refining the recording process is bigger than any of us thought it was when we started this journey. We're still learning, still refining, still growing.

Dude it is a LIVING ROOM lol!!! I can do a lot of stuff but I just cannot imagine the look on my fiance's face as I try to pop sound absorbent foam around the living room space. That is just not worth it to me. Ivory 2 was a lot cheaper ;-)

Just for the record I have recorded a lot of different ways into that thing and putting mics too close to the strings drives me nuts because I end up hearing the dampers coming off the strings in the middle registers. I don't care what kind of acoustic treatment I could use that is not going to go away without some serious work on the soundboard. I know cause I talked to my piano tech about it.

The mics set up the way I have done in that pic actually capture a lot of the sound out of the piano and stay away from that wall in front of it which accentuates the high end. It still is not anything great. No matter what I have done, and I did a lot, I still can't trash the room so it is what it is.

When I get tired of messing with synths I go back to the ultimate analog keyboard :-) This was a pic of yet another frustrating attempt to properly mic up my grand. Now you know why I have Ivory 2!

Beautiful ! I can't get a sense of perspective on it's size. Is it a C3 ?

Yea it is a C3. I wish I could have gotten a full on C7 in there but the space would not allow it. It plays like a dream though. Even running scales on it feels great :-)

Yeah TV LCD is my 32" - No problem with them at all! I dont know where you heard that, but you can use an LCD TV all day!

Just make sure it has an input that is compatible with your video card.

Most of them have HDMI now- mine has a DVI as it is older.

I recommend getting one that is 1080p for higher resolution available-

I got mine when they were real expensive and it cost me $1000- and it is only 720p

I will be getting a 1080p one soon! There is such good deals these days on them.

Wow I LOVE your studio space. That is just an awe inspiring setup. Where did you get your laptop stand? I am looking for exactly that type of setup so that I can have the laptop screen next to my main keyboard stands.

I am already a hermit in my little place but if I had a room like that they would be slipping food in under the door :-)

Lol...

Hey, this was my wifes laptop stand... I just stole it from her... Never asked where she bought...

You know, I really dream about have a lot more stuff, like Universal Audio, Tube Tech, SSL, and so forth... like everybody else dream too... But, in Brazil we have breath takin landscapes as equal as taxes... Most of this gear can't be found in brazilian pro-audio market.

What makes me work even better than lots of gear is to be in a very (VERY) peacefull place, away from the city madness and noises. Then, we (me and my wife) choose to spend our money in a good place first... And God was (and still is) very good to us.

Here a outside view of my studio, pictured in the background, wich is located below of my house.

Hi all.

Thought it would be fun to see everyones rigs around here so I figured I'd start it off.

This is my Sonar X1 rig. Unfortunately I wasn't on the bootcamp side when taken these photos but you'll get the idea.

Mac Pro Specs. 2 Xeons westmires @ 12 cores (24 cores total), 20 gigs of ram, and 10 terabytes of hard drive storage. Near fields or HR-824s, and a few of my classic hardware synths I've kept from years past.

P.S : The midi controller is a A-800 Pro from Cakewalk Roland. This controller is the best on the market, was a fantastic purchase. Feels like one of my real, old roland synths. Semi weighted keys, buttons are solid.

Hope you enjoyed my preview.

Bro ! That was one realy good idea , respect ! nice

FBB -  What?! You can do the same thing with software!? DOH!! heh, actually I do love and prefer real analog even though I use a few virtual analogs as well. I just got a minimoog voyager and realized I should have STARTED with that. I still love the Minimax but the real one has just a bit more bite to it. I also have the OPX Pro and the moog modular and a couple of other soft-synths but almost never use them now that I finally have a lot of hardware.

The exception is the VB3. Best soft synth or b3 and leslie emulator I've ever heard. LOVE that thing.

The truth is, I NEED the full front panel. I don't really know why but it makes a HUGE difference when it comes to quickly editing a sound and being creative with it. A couple of these things I've had for a while but 2 years ago I got the Creamware Pro12 and INSTANTLY was taken back to the late 70s when I first started playing synths. Hands-on changes EVERYTHING for me. So.. spending spree ensued...

Dean - ha! I didn't even realize that when I posted this. I just hate seeing myself so using a slightly blurry pic makes it tolerable. I have a LOT of trouble getting distortion guitar to sit nicely in a mix and I LOVE synths so the guitars are mostly collecting dust now.

My favorite thing about this is that in your profile pic you're playing guitar :)
