X1 Expanded D was very stable Lawp. X2 was stable for many. So far X3 has been very stable.

clicking the wrong place in the prochannel causing a crash to desktop is not "stable" in anyone's book... there were also bugs with drag/copying fx between bins... and everyone's favourite, the midi-out bug(s)... that's when i stopped blindly paying the yearly-ish subscription... now i'm in anticipation mode...

lawp, you surely reported those issues via Problem Reporter, right? Are the tickets' status still "Submitted to Development" or were the tickets closed when the next version came out? If latter, what message did you receive regarding the ticket closure? Just curious.

yes of course, the status was "status changed" which i was told was because the status kept getting changed(!) and then more recently ryan (i think) said it was due to a problem and was fixed, but yeah... http://forum.cakewalk.com/problem-reporter-statuses-what-do-they-mean-how-many-are-there-m2541068.aspx

ive never had any one of these happen to me.
there things in x2 that irritated me, but nothing that made me stop using it do to functionality.
matter of fact I like x2 a lot. some thing I wish I could keep the same instead of functions in x3.

I don't clone tracks as much as I create another track and drag effects in to another track bin.
cant say once I had a problem doing that.
as far as "clicking in the wrong place on the PC"

don't do that ...lol

yeah, that was the forum response at the time - "don't click the place that makes it crash"

X3D is out! Not that it matters to X2A users.

I know that last exchange shouldn't amuse me but it does. We can beat this dead horse until we have nice soft leather gloves for all but odds still stay the same on Sonar going back to make changes to X2. The Gibson acquisition makes this even less likely since it is safe to assume they have more interest in going forward than backward.
