Rapture Install BUG! (There I said it!)
2012/09/20 22:43:31
(permalink)
I completed the installation and everything seems to be working, but when I go to register Rapture in X2 (run as administrator), it doesn't accept the new password because there is no serial number in that field and it never prompted me for the Rapture serial number. I tried reinstalling just Rapture again from the X2 install files and it still didn't prompt me for the serial number. Suggestions? Quite frankly, I think it was idiotic to make current Dimension Pro and Rapture owners to have to reinstall them. The Dimension Pro install doesn't work either, it tells me I have to download it again, but its allowing me to use the version I already had so that was ok. Not only that, it takes 20 minutes just to install Rapture by itself because of the way the installation files are so huge. I thought the new CEO said he was going to fix the installation process. Hmmm... I was happy, now I'm pissed.

which download set is Rapture located in? I just dl'd and installed the 02_Sonar_X2 set, and despite there being a check box to install Rapture, I am not seeing it anywhere on my system.

the new code should be in your "my account" they sent em out a few weeks back (if you did the pre-sale) there is the advanced install to choose from, which you could have turned them off , no ? I know what your saying, but with previous versions e.g. with G-rig LE , I had the full version.. I cancelled that installer and it went back to the main one (which is what rapture might do ? .. if you cancel that installer (as it's called from the x2 main installer right ? ) rapture is very small size MB compared to DP.. perfectprint : it's included in the main set (sonar) install files.. it's an installer called from within the sonar one perhaps everyone should go and download Muz3um for rapture :) .. it's rather good

The sad thing is you probably did not need to install either DimPro or Rapture. It appears that nothing new was added. So if you kept current and are running DimPro 1.5 file version 1.5.0.11 and the full Rapture 1.2.2 file version 1.2.2.7 (nb. these are the 64bit files) you could have skipped all the pain.

rapture went perfect for me-regular install but I did uncheck TTS-1, perfect space and stuff like that that I knew I already had. Rapture was checked on mine and I was asked for the serial number during the intitail install and then the reg the 1st time I put in in the fx bin to check it out.

Hmmm... I was happy, now I'm pissed. Do you recall if you cancelled the Rapture installer? Two solutions to fix it: 1) Re-run the installer and put in your new code 2) Manually enter it in you registry. Be careful if you're new to this! Here's how: 1) Open the Run prompt on your computer by holding down the Windows key and pressing "R" 2) In the Run Prompt, type in the following: regedit 3) Click [OK]. This will open the Windows Registry Editor 4) IMPORTANT: Please make a backup of your Registry by going to File > Export. In the Export menu make sure you have "All" selected and that the "Save As Type" is set to "Registration File (.reg)". If you accidentally delete a reg key, you will need to re-import from this file. 5a) For the 64-bit version of Rapture, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\rp 5b) For the 32-bit version of SONAR on a 64-bit operating system, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cakewalk Music Software\rp 6) Select the "rp" folder on the left and then locate the value in the field on the right for "Serial Number" 7) Right-click over "Serial Number" and select "Modify" 8) Enter your new serial number from your online account and then click [OK] That should push the serial number into the registration dialog next time you launch Rapture.

If you already had Dim Pro, why did you re install it? It wasn't in the X2 installer for me. Wasn't even a check box? Do we all have the same programs? You know they said they "fixed" the IE download issue. I got my downloads way before that, had to add the exe, etc. Same files? Mine was smooth as silk. Just sayin'................and I know Dave knows his stuff.

I just fixed it by finding my old 1.22 dll and moving it to the VST folder and re-scanning. I shouldn't have had to do anything. The installation routines for DimPro and Rapture or horrible. They should either fix them or retire the products. Z3TA+ seems to go much better. Also, Cakewalk should give us the option to download ISO images of the DVDs so we can burn our own DVDs. That way if we have to reinstall, its a lot quicker plus it will give us a backup version.

Ryan: 1) I re-ran the installer twice and selected Rapture to be installed and neither time did it prompt me for the serial #. Each attempt took at least 20 minutes. 2) I tried to edit the registry and I didn't find a key for entering the serial number. I'll check to see if the one you gave me is there. Thanks for the response. Edit: I navigated to the key you gave and there is no Serial Number field.

Thanks daveny5, Can you double-check you navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and not HKEY_CURRENT_USER? I haven't run into this behavior myself, but I'm seeing if I can replicate it.

I ended up with two Rapture standalone host shortcuts. The original one "Rapture Microhost" which points to "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Rapture.exe" - Running this version prompts for registration, but the serial number box is blank and readonly. A new one "Rapture" which points to "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\Rapture\Rapture.exe" - This version has the new serial number and registration succeeded.

Can you double-check you navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and not HKEY_CURRENT_USER? Busted! Yes, I was on HKEY_CURRENT_USER. I found it and changed it. I have it working now. Thanks! I don't think it should be retired... just fix the installation. I am a little disappointed we didn't get any expansion packs for Rapture. They should at least throw a bone to the people who had already bought Rapture since they're now giving it away as part of Sonar.

What if Cakewalk couldn't retire Rapture till they fixed all the bugs? What if that was Dr. Evil's next Evil Scheme... We would watch the apocalypse dawn, and all that would be left; a tiny brownstone in Boston, where a crack team of bakers is sweating away, trying to save the world, by fixing every last Rapture bug... HAHAHA That would be evil :p

I have been trying all day to install rapture. Redownloaded the four X2 files to make sure they were not the problem, but I keep getting the same result: I select just 'Rapture' from the customize menu, the install process starts and I see a file called 'RaptureInstall.exe' being extracted in the background before a Microsoft C++ Redistributable window pops up and does whatever they do - THEN i get a message saying that I have an old version of DIMENSION PRO installed and the install process is stopped (or finished, or cancelled not sure which) and I am taken to a Cakewalk DM PRO 1.5 download page. I ALREADY HAVE 1.5 INSTALLED. Is my Rapture installation really being ****ed up because of Dimension?????????

ps to anyone trying repeat installs: the installation files are (very slowly) extracted to C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Temp. Copy them to another location for future installations as they are immediately deleted once the installation is complete.

I did find this in the read me file. Might help? After installing Dimension Pro and Rapture you must either run the standalone applications or SONAR X2 as administrator for Dimension Pro/Rapture to accept the registration number. This can be done by right-clicking on the SONAR icon or the standalone application icon and selecting "Run as Administrator".

, some more info... Dimension LE x86 and x64 Installation on Same System (Studio and Essential Only) Customers who are installing Dimension LE on x86 and x64 systems must be sure to select the same content installation path during the installation in order to prevent duplicate content from being installed.
