Anyone interested in purchasing one locally and shipping it to Australia for me (would be willing to pay a small fee for your troubles.) Cant find these locally (in Oz) anywhere.

Seems like they are always on e-bay, you should be able to buy on e-bay and have it shipped to you in Oz.

Thanks Frank - last time i checked i couldnt find any on ebay (a few months back) that would ship here. I'll take another look. Sounds like for the money this would be a good mic to try.

I'm not sure why it's listed under DYNAMIC mics when the ad itself clearly says "Condenser"

Hey, Millzy. Figure out what shipping is going to cost from Minneapolis, MN, postal code = 55407, to you. Then contact me offline. Do you have PayPal? I'll help you out if we can figure it out. How many did you want?

To get the shipping you need to know the box size and weight. Then you can use this calculator.

Ok, to help you a bit: To get a pair of them to my door will cost you $91.65. Then we'll have to add on the PayPal fee, and shipping to you. That's it.

What's PayPal charging these days? 3%? 5%? Something like that. I'll check.

I'd probably use the United States Postal Service to ship it to you:

Right, no joke! When we talked last, it seems like every weekend since filled up with other stuff... and all of it away from Midtown! I've been thinking about it tho. Maybe we'll hit a lull and actually enjoy a weekend out up your way soon. I'll email ya if it works out!

OK just discovered that PSSL.com now ship internationally. So these mics can be ordered directly from their web store.

A big thanks to Corey who offered to be my "middle man" in the shipping process, really appreciated his offer of good will.

yeah, and when you try to complete the order.. it fails..
talked with them a while ago,.. or they indeed changed it..

btw.
in dez or this month the customs and declaration rules changed a bit.. I believe you can "import" stuff from the usa to germany without duty/customs to a value up to 150Euro.. something like that.. it's been around 15/20Euro before..

edit.
I have 5 of these mics, 3 used ones.. 2 new.. if someone around germany wants one he/she can pm me.. (I can't offer a price at 40$ though as it was way more expensive to get them to germany)

Funny... it seems that this would be a rather happy state of affairs, not an unfortunate one?

No, literally.

Glad you'll be able to get your hands on them. I'm about to order two more.

Edit: OH! I meant to mention: If you want an example of how this mic sounds for VO work, take a listen to the "Service Dogs" episode on http://www.HenryAndBuster.com/

Sadly, it's a 128k MP3, but... it should give you SOME idea what they should like.

Hi Guys,

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I have one of these mics and it is "okay" but not my favorite. I guess for the money, it is a decent mic.

I'm curious as to what applications people are finding these mics really shine?

From app to app, it's not that much of a difference. I'm thinking the interface might have more to do with it - running these through my EMU 1820m, they sound good to my ear. I won't claim they sound like a $1k mic, but for the price, not bad at all. I've used them mostly for spoken word stuff, though they fit my voice well for singing, too (low baritone).

Cheers,

Russ

I used a pair on a percussion track not long ago. I liked the fact that I didn't have to surgically remove that Ice Pick from my ear... they sounded smooth and natural on lower level transient material ( bongo's / hand drums - egg shaker and cabasa. Actually a very nice high end on the shakers and cabasa...that to me is dead give away to cheaper mics.

Hi Guys,

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I have one of these mics and it is "okay" but not my favorite. I guess for the money, it is a decent mic.

I'm curious as to what applications people are finding these mics really shine?

Sibilant speaking voices seem to do very well on them.

OH's for drums: Very smoof.

Traditional Irish Flute: Better than expected... I threw it up just to see how it sounded, and ended up really liking it. Very rich, not too much of the "breath" which other condensers seem to accentuate.

Acoustic guitar: I usually use SD's instead of LD's on acoustic, but these sound very nice.

Banjo: A solid banjo mic.

Accordion: Placement was critical, but once we found "the" spot, very nice.

I have a lot of mics, some very expensive, some not so much. I had been using my Sennheiser 421's (I have three of the originals, from the 70's) and my RE20 for VO work. My goal is to have 4 of these instead. They sound really good for VO work... smooth, forgiving for amateurs, etc. For $300 it's a good VO mic. For $40 it's a freaking SICK bargain.

I wanna chime in to report that I've recorded a song with my SP1 since I got it a couple weeks ago and I'm very happy with the quality of sound that I got. This is comin' from a dude who was recording acoustics with a sound hole pickup or am SM58 Beta (all I had). So this is a major improvement. I even like the sound of my vocals better when recorded through the SP1 as opposed to the SM58. I just wanna thank this thread.
