Richard CraniumYes I have Revalver 4, (and 3  and 3dot5). Well if I had to choose, I would go for Revalver 4, if nothing else just for the tweaking available, however I did find the component tweaking much better/easier in 3/3dot5, but . . . In 4 you have to be able to follow the schematics, but just for simple stuff like changing out the pre or power amp valves can give so much versatility in sound variation. But it all depends on what your ears like, what sounds good to you, %90 of the time I would say Revalver sounds better, the other 10% I may say Amp4 sounds better, 100% of the time I would say BIAS Amp Pro, BIAS FX Pro or TH2 Full sound better ;)

Thanks! I'll take a closer look at TH2 and Revalver4.

How come I have 30 Jam Points on the site and only 20 credits in Custom Shop?
I suppose they are different things?

Yes they are. Jam points are awarded based on purchases. Credits are purchased (only).

If you bought 100 Credits you are allowed to use (up to 30% of the purchase) your jam points. So, for you today, spend $75 and use your jam points an you'll have $100 in credits.

Actually, you CAN get Credits with certain purchases...i.e. I got BONUS 25 Credit when I
purchased SampleTank 3 SE...but that is not the "usual" case....and I got 10 Jampoints also...

Playing around with A4 again tonight, and I was reminded of how good the Fender collection is. I used Fender amps for over 30 years and that collection is fantastic. The Z 18 is also a very good amp.
I've uninstalled A3 and will continue to get familiar with A4. As I said earlier, I'm not sure it sounds better than A3, but I really liked A3...so it's a nice upgrade.
I still believe S-Gear and Amplitube was a good choice on my part, considering I'm limiting myself to two full blown amp sims.

I like it, no wow except it solves a few DAW problems with my secondary laptop setup. I like those Marshall's,  better than the old Slash ones but my amp does Marshall and Fender better IMO. What I do love about Amplatube is Dr. Z, Orange and that Engl. I also love that Pinnacle disto box on the go with the 2 button switch.
It might have been my imagination but just testing A4 so far in main DAW with monitors, I thought the sound of the older models sounder a bit better.Might have been the weed...

Ok, I spent about an hour with A4 this morning.  I decided to focus on just one amp sim, the JCM8000.  I didn't use a preset, I dialed everything up from scratch as if it was my own amp.  I placed a compressor in front of the amp.  An EQ to roll of just a touch of the bottom.  I placed the Digital Delay and Reverb on the back end, just a touch of each.  Next I changed cabinets, selected the closed Vintage 1 with Greenbacks.  Adjusted the mic placement a touch backwards and a little more away from the center of the speaker.  I thought it sounded awesome.  The tone seemed cleaner, less hum, less fizz.  The picking dynamics felt better too me.

The last thing I did was rolled off some volume on my guitar, cleaned up very nicely.

A3 was probably my number one, followed up closely by S Gear.  I know a lot of people have a real love for S Gear and everyone states that.  I think it is an awesome Sim as well, but A3 usually fit better in my mix.  I have a feeling A4 will fit even better.  Differences in oppinions could certainly have a lot to do with the guitars people are playing.  I tend to play more vintage PAF pickups and single coils that are not as hot as other people play.  Maybe my picking dynamics are different than others.  All I know and hear, is that this new A4 sim sounds like an improvement to me; and that the new Marshall's sound very good.

Tempt's me to try the Mesa Boogies.

I'm loving it now. I've been working on a couple of things this morning and it sounds fantastic!
Being I'm a Fender guy, It's the Fender collection that really does it for me. I haven't heard anyone but IK get those right.
S-Gear doesn't try. Scuffham is doing his own thing, which I love as well. It will be a lot of fun trying to decide which sim to use.
I have un-installed A3 and will just move forward with A4. I see no reason to compare...it's just a waste of time.

Thanks for sharing this.  I agree that A3 (and A4) have nailed the Fender sounds down.  The Fender collection is fantastic; it is the primary reason I use A3.  S-Gear and A3/4's Fender Collection both have that Wow factor for me, but the rest of A4 is just okay for me.

Having said this (and given my initial disappointment noted earlier in this thread) I was able to play with A4 last night and have come to appreciate the new hyper Tuner--it is nice.  I also like the new speaker section; for me that is a nice feature; being able to put an Alnico or a vintage Celestion to do some speaker swaps is helpful occasionally.  I have not heard a hyper realistic improvement in the sound, but at least those two features are enhancements to A3.  Not sure if they are really worth the upgrade cost, but what is done is done.  I also will now retire A3 and I will now use A4 when I need my Fender amps.  BTW, I still own 2 Fenders (an original 1967 Blackface Super Reverb with the original speakers, and a 2-12 Hot Rod Deville) and I have a custom built tweed champ (actually a Tramp which is good for low volume recording), but these days I primarily just plug into S-Gear and get my fix, or into A3 for my Fender tones.    I will admit that A3 (and A4?) is good for those tracks where I want heavy "marshallesque" distortion, but then so is G5 or TH2.

FWIW, I am making huge improvements over what I was using....and thought was ok...... I added Amp4 to the FX of each of our acoustic guitar channels, and shut off what I had set up. I quickly got better sounds than I had. Game Over. I have S-Gear, Bias, Pod Farm 2, and all the Platinum stuff. I should have started with Amplitube!

I really like the new GUI and the way you change out speakers and rooms.  I own most of the Amp Packages that IK offers, including Fender, Metal, Slash, Orange, and Ampeg....so I have access to most of the cabinets and speakers.  What you don't own, you can see, but don't have access too.

It is a cool feature to be able to switch speakers in the cabinet.  I need to play with the rooms more, but what I have tried, I really like.

I will add, there ain't much better for portable tones than a netbook, a Variax/PodFarm2 setup, and most any clean amp. Well worth my trades....

I do have an Egnater Renegade(6L6/KT66) that gets most places.....but then I'm really a bassist so what do I know? Well, I know tone! The one thing I really need to do now that I have the Variax set, is to plug it straight into the Renegade.......I am expecting near Nirvana, and not the band.

I own everything Amplitube, and it all works ok, except the Orange Thunderverb 200, it has a very noticeably low output volume, it was the same in Amp3, they know about it, and according to the IK forums it has been fixed in Amp4, it has not, I sent a ticket yesterday and got a quick response, with a workaround, which isn't really a workaround, but points for quick response and actually trying/caring. Anyway, I am just wondering if you have the same issue with the Orange Thunderverb 200 ?

The Orange collection is and has been my fav AmpliTube collection, and unfortunately the Thunderverb 200 is my fav of that collection :(

The Variax has 2 outputs, a cat5 and a normal 1/4 inch, and I also have a Hofner double cut with minis that I use most of the time with Pod Farm til I get used to the Variax.  I have a Turtle Beach Amigo II USB sound card on the netbook for Pod Farm 2.5, and I  can run Variax workbench to fine tune, or switch out banks or whatever....

I do NOT gig with it, just to jam and horse around wherever........It always attracts a small bunch of folks whenever I'm out and about with it. The reason for the netbook is they are cheap used($50-75) and more than enough to do what I'm doing with it(not gonna even try and load Sonar). Altho I did upgrade to an internal SSD... and Win 10 for speed

Have you tried selecting all of them yet.  On my version, they look really similar, maybe a little dimmer.  I had to look closely.  However, when you select them, you are directed to the Custom Shop to "purchase this item".

Great to hear that it is a bug.

What about new room and speaker simulations? Is this a usable and welcome addition or just a mess and a waist of time?

I just spent some time with the Cabinet Rooms. At first, switching between the different rooms made no difference--they sounded all the same.  Then I realized that I had to go to the mixer section at the bottom of the Cabinet section and raise the fader for the Room.  After raising the Room fader, I can say that the different rooms do have different ambiances.  I like the two Studio rooms best, but that is just me.

So, for all of you still finding your way around this A4, make sure to adjust the Room fader on the Cabinet's own little fader section (at the bottom of the Cabinet options).
