IK_Multimedia Also, sorry to have posted it in the Mesa Boogie thread instead of just opening a new thread, I must still have some hesitation over opening new threads here after some of the history there ;)
That's ok, Peter... I did it immediately... as a long time A3 user, I knew everyone would want to know the awesomeness coming down the pike!

bluzdog As long as we're all into math: I figured that I might as well spent $112 (134.99 - 30%) for 260 credits and get AT4 and the Stealth Limiter for 225 of those credits leaving me with 45 credits due to 10 previously existinging credits for my future shopping pleasure. Rocky
bluzdog... smart move... Stealth is awesome... I have all the Fab gear and Stealth is superior for final rendering. Pro-L couldn't come close... now, Pro-L2??? we'll just have to wait till 2016...Stealth'll frack your cpu at 16x oversampling though... it'll render in quick mode but remember to turn off 16x oversampling when trying to work on the song... Personally I went with the 35% deal... and consumed all my jams in the process... super deal.... ended up with Mesa, Stealth, and A4 with enough left over to hopefully get in on the next group buy for all the other collections. I'm a very happy camper right now!

This is all to confusing for me. Pre order price is $99. My only beef with the previous software is it is not scalable. If your monitor is a 32 TV which is set at 1366x768 the bottom of Amplitube is chopped off in stand alone. I will get this someday.

Forgive my ignorance here, but got a question. Earlier in this thread there was a concern about ver 4 being stripped down and relying on the custom shop to get anything going forward. Searched the site and read about the 5 new amps, cab room, an acoustic guitar stomp. Nothing however about included stomps and racks. Ver 2 and 3 had lots of info about the included effects. Was wondering. Is $99 going to get a shell with a few amp heads, one stomp, and then having to fork out another $10 to the custom shop to get a flanger. Thanks for clarifying this. Don't want to ultimately spend $500 to get back to where Amplitube 3 was. John

I am really undecided on this. I generally like to upgrade my kit to the latest version just because that's how I do things. However for the price I'm just not sure how worth it this is. Particularly since there isn't upgrade pricing. I wish they had some audio comparisons with 3.

Something that kind of bothered me a bit is that I got the Mesa/Boogie collection and when I would go to load the cabs, I get warning after warning that I don't have this or that addon for whatever preset I was trying to use. After about the 8th one, I just gave up for the day. Not sure if all these presets require Amplitube 3 Full or a bunch of other addons from the store. This is my first purchase from IK so I'm still not very familiar with the interface.

I smell an enormous rat. I've just posted this on the IK Forum and will be very interested in Peter's reply:- "I'm really not clear on this.
If I buy Amplitube4 , my Amplitube3 gear will be missing from V4, except for gear I've bought. Which gear is that? If it's not the gear in my A3 then I infer that the only gear 'from V3' will be any additional Custom Shop gear I've bought, is that right?
If I parse all that, what I get is: "A4 is a stripped down Amplitube3 Lite with some new amps added to sweeten the pot but the intent is to encourage customers to buy (re-buy?) gear from the Custom Shop that they already bought in A3. That's why this isn't being called an upgrade."
I'm not trying to be shirty, it's just that I smell a Custom Shop continuous purchases model here. It seems to me if I lay out £70 I reasonably expect to end up with what I already have plus a lot more besides. If I end up with a lot less than what I already have plus four or five new amps then I'd need rocks in my head to pay for doing that. If I've totally misunderstood and that is not the situation then I sincerely apologise, but I need to fully understand what's being offered here."

I did do the update to A3 and the customshop. I would check and make sure you have the lastest version of A3 3.15 and customshop 1.6 (I think). I did get an error after upgrading and had to delete everything and re-install A3.

I just read through this whole post - the one thing that comes through loud and clear is that IK's marketing strategy / policies are not clear and obvious to everyone (myself included) - you could almost say they seem deliberately muddled perhaps Quite frankly this puts me off getting back into the IK products. I'll use what I have until such time as they wont work anymore, then they can gracefully slip into the draw full of software that no longer works! I should have got my monies worth by then and then we can part without any hard feelings! If they should ever decide to de-muddle their marketing, I would probably get back on the bike straight away - for the time being too busy making some music!! Nigel

Although their marketing strategies are unclear and a turn off, I have to say their T-Racks plugins are fantastic (especially the newer ones that came out last year EQ 73, 81, Precision Com/limiter, Master 432 etc...). I've used them on almost every audio track (since that group buy) and found them to just uplift the sonic character of each track......even using both EQ's (73 & 81) on the same track has produced very pleasing results. So Nigel, before you drop using IK's stuff, just take a look at these plugins as they're totally worth jumping through the few hoops to get them. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/cat-view.php?C=family-t-racks-processors

One thing I would suggest to anyone contemplating this purchase is to update ALL their Custom Shop apps...I have TRacks, Amp3 and Sampletank3 and I wish I had updated BEFORE I purchased my gear credits as it seems I get 10 more with each update. That means I could've just purchased the 50 gear credit pack and ended up only $30 bucks out of pocket for the Amp4 upgrade. No biggie but something to keep in mind if you have not yet taken any action on this.

When you purchase something in the IK Store you're given an option to apply up to 30% of the price using your jam points. You can purchase Gear Credit packs in the Store this way and save. Your best bet, if you have some jam points, is to purchase the amount of Gear Credits you need in the IK Store and apply your jam points to the full %30 of the price (if you have that many). Then make your upgrade purchase in the Custom Shop using your gear credits. Also remember, as I stated above, that you'll get 10 extra Gear Credits for updating each of your Custom Shop modules...i.e.TRacks, Amp, and Sampletank. At least I did. Needlessly convoluted...but it does work.

Quite so. I would even argue that they sport some kind of dynamic marketing strategy. This is a highly interactive market, with active GearSlutz and KVR forum participation following every single move they make. So maybe at each new launch they wait to see what is acceptable and what isn't. You can view this as a fiendish Dr. Fu Manchu plot, but I believe it's even to our advantage. This specific kind of dynamic marketing allows for adaptive behavior if certain complaints are voiced. Their history has shown that they do adapt and change policy when complaints are reiterated. Remember the changes to their SampleTank and JamPoints policy. So I guess the way to handle this from a consumer POV is to make ourselves heard. Over and over again. So here's me, voicing my wish for a free AmpliTube 4 to run my AmpliTube 3 stuff

Indeed, I think you only get it once. I got it when I updated the Custom Shop in T-RackS, but not when I did the same with SampleTank and AmpliTube.

If you already have AT3, all of that gear will function in AmpliTube 4. From http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube4/index.php?pp=at4cs-gear - As a standalone software and DAW plug-in, AmpliTube 4 comes with the gear listed. If you currently own a previous version of AmpliTube, you can use the Custom Shop feature to restore all of your gear from Custom Shop purchases and legacy gear.
