Bug: I have a project with 10 audio tracks. I had some of the inputs set up still and I wanted them all set to 'None'. I highlight all 10 tracks, hold down CTRL, click on 'Input', click on 'None' on the first track, and X1 crashes every time and creates a mini dmp file. I am able to recreate the error.

I don't know but all my registrant Nomad Factory plugins went into DEMO mode after I installed X1 because you get an unwanted installation of an outdated Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library? After I un-installed and installed Nomad Factory plugins again I got an included "up to date" version of Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library so everything works again.

Problem Summary: Rewire Broken Problem Description: Only channels 1 and 2 can be setup as a true stereo input in Rewire, anything higher than that has to be set up as hard-panned mono inputs despite there being 'Stereo' selections in the drop down, these are in fact summed mono. This makes freezing multiple Stereo tracks impossible, unless bounced individually. Playback monitoring can only be achieved by the inconvenient method of pairing hard panned mono tracks routed through a stereo bus. This has been an existing issue since at least V7 and has been submitted before, same behaviour is now confirmed in X1a. Applies to any Rewired app. This leaves Sonar AFAIK as the only existing Rewire capable host to exhibit this behaviour. Applies to any Rewired app. Expected Results: Stereo Input from Rewire on channels pairs from 3-4 and up to 63-64 Actual Results: Two channel Mono from any 'Stereo' selection chosen from the list of Rewired input channels apart from the first stereo pair (Rewire channels 1 and 2). CWBRN-3809 Don't forget folks just because you've seen somebody post a problem report on an issue always create your own if you are affected by it. That's my intention from now at least. It may just make the difference between putting up with a long term niggle and something being fixed. You never know I suppose.

I set my metronome to play during record in my preferences, and then to play during playback once again in the preferences menu, both worked fine. But when I went to preferences to turn off the metronome (hitting apply and Ok) the metronome continued to play during playback. The only way I could turn it off was with the control bar metronome icon. I think it's a legitimate bug. Here's my problem report # CWBRN-3825

quantize ba_midi I haven't read this entire thread - but here's one real bad bug for me - I'm wondering if anyone else has seen/mentioned/reported it: If I am in the PRV and select some notes and want to quantize them, "Q" does NOTHING. I've tried it in a few proejcts. Nada. Zilch. Also when bringing up the PRV (btw, this is in the multi-dock), I have the controller pane visible and the dock ALWAYS comes up with the controller pane taking up most of the screen real estate and the notes are way up top almost hidden. If this has been brought up already, I humbly apologize. But even if so, can someone else confirm what I'm seeing? Thanks.
I also noticed this. I thought it might have something to do with what tool was selected. I finally found that if you hit the "T" (tool) key first, then "Q" it works. So my work-around is to make the quantize shortcut "TQ" and not "Q". I too noticed the controller pane is a little too tall. Maybe resizing it can be remembered for the next time it is opened?

I recently reported a reproducible bug to Cakewalk through the official channels where key bindings are set but have no effect. For example, I bind the 'S' key to the Scrub Tool, but pressing S in the PRV view does nothing (stays on whatever tool was last selected). Also, if I import the Sonar Legacy settings, the old 'B' key is mapped to Scrub, but doesn't seem to work either. I haven't seen this pretty obvious issue reported elsewhere so it may be just my setup, but I can't see anyway around it, and as you can imagine, it makes using X1 productively very difficult until I have the time to relearn all the keys. The program crashing about once an hour doesn't help either. These are usually not reproducible, so not really useful to report officially. I guess I'll have to go back to 7 (still installed and rock-solid on this PC) until the next patch comes out.

This may already have been bought up. I can't make out whether it's a bug or feature request. Maybe it should be possible to set different snap-to resolutions in the PRV and TV but a bug won't let it. Either way the behaviour has no logic Problem Summary: Snap to changes when opening PRV Detailed Description: 1. Open PRV set a snap to resolution - for example 1/16 2. Close the PRV. Note close not minimize 3. In the Track View change the snap to resolution - for example 1/2 4. Double click a MIDI clip to open the PRV 5. Close the PRV Expected Result I would expect the snap to resolution in the Track View to remain at the resolution I set it to - in this example 1/2 Actual Result: The resolution in the Track View gets changed to the resolution in the PRV CWBRN-3853

No idea whether this one's already been done but as mentioned in another post I've reported it anyway Problem Summary: V-Vocal clips go silent with flat line Detailed Description: 1. Open V-Vocal on an audio track 2. Make some edits using v-vocal 3. Save and close the project 4. Re-open the project Expected Result: I would expect to be able to play back and hear the edited v-vocal track. Actual Result: The V-vocal track is silent, the waveform is present but V-vocal window shows a flat line. No audio playback from the v-vocal clip at all. CWBRN-3894 EDIT: This only seems to happen if there is another project already open. With a completely blank X1 and then loading a project this doesn't seem to happen AFAICT.

Not sure if this has been mentioned. I haven't checked it with a New project, but when I import an old project into X1 which I created in 8.5, I have a problem with the Sonitus EQ. In console view, in most instances, when I open up the EQ dialog window by double clicking on the little EQ graph above the fader, it will turn on or turn off one band of the EQ, which was not previously on or off, as the case may be. I never had this issue in 8.5, and it's quite annoying.

FBB, I also posted this in that other thread for your review but here's what I tried. I have a normal template with a single hidden audio track and whenever I change the magnetic strength to off it would revert back to medium upon reopening. However when I deleted that track and reset mag strength to off, saved as normal, re-opened, it saved my 'off' setting. So I think that setting is tied to the track somehow. Anyway when I deleted my single track it would remember the setting but NOT while that track was in the template. That's the only explanation for your setting to revert to something different than mine. Not sure how to set up a track that will remember my setting for the normal template but am working on it.

OR - it's saved in a Screen Set. I think that's the culprit here. YES confirmed that on my system. That setting is saved in Screen Sets and I have to assume per project as well..

Automation - lost features and bugs In all versions of Sonar except X1, you can select a group of tracks and arm them for automation by choosing automation write enable. All parameters are armed for automation, not just one parameter. Right before starting to automate it's important to go to the start of the song and hit snapshot. This creates a starting place for all moves and changes of all parameters. In 8.5 all tracks armed for automation add a starting point node at the beginning of the song. This is important, because if it's not done then if you accidently hit a fader on your control surface and have not starting point snapshot, then that track will start with the wrong automation settings. There are a few other ways to unintentionally change the start time automation settings, so it's dangerous to not use a start time snapshot. In X1 it appears that you can only automate one parameter at a time by right clicking that parameter and choosing automaton snapshot. The help file mentions multiple automation snapshots, but doesn't explain how to do them. I tried selecting several tracks and choosing automation snapshot, but it didn't work. This is what the help file says about multiple automation snapshots. -=-=-=-=- Successive snapshots do not update envelope node values When taking multiple automation snapshots at the same Now time, new envelope nodes are created instead of updating any existing envelope nodes. To address this issue, undo the previous automation snapshot before performing a new snapshot. -=-=-=-=-= This seems to be a big oversight. What if you are trying to update multiple automation snapshots and you can't undo, either because you did the original snapshot a long time ago and don't want to undo a lot of important stuff or that you closed Sonar and all the undo history is lost. When I first installed X1 and opened an 8.5 file that had automation already recorded. I played the song and it sounded terrible, because EQ settings in Prochannel were incorrectly set to rolloff all automated tracks at 300HZ. So all the tracks sounded really thin and strange. This is a bug in backward compatibility. My automation settings from 8.5 shouldn't affect Prochannel. The reason I prefer to select all the tracks for automation and then choose automation write enable, instead of right clicking "volume" and choosing automation write enable, is because I would have to do that for each track one at a time instead of having a group of tracks all set for automation write enable for all parameters. After choosing snapshot, so I don't have to view about 30 envelope lines in the clip pane, I choose hide all enveleopes and then choose show volume envelope, because usually that's all I automate is volume. Yet if I do choose to automate something else that envelope shows up on the screen along with the volume envelope. In addition to all these automation problems X1 is crashing while changing things in Prochannel or working with the automation. Hopefully this severe instability is temporary and will be fixed in the next patch. I must say my initial impression of X1 isn't very good. If anyone has workarounds for these issues or can enlighten me in case I'm missing something, please chime in.

User ignorance, but in this case mine, but at least I'm not so vain I can't admit it. The snap-to settings are screenset dependent which is going to be a good thing I think. My jury is still out on that one, but my settings weren't saving because the particular screenset I was in was locked. Now I actually know how it works I'm going to complain about it at every opportunity learn how to use it to my advantage.

Canceling received sysx causes crash. Open up an empty project (or any project for that matter). Go to Views-->Sysx (or Alt+Shift+7). In Sysx view, go to File-->Receive. Then choose <you start dump on instrument> and click 'OK'. Now send sysx from any hardware synth or equipment, and click 'Cancel' during or after the sysx transfere. BUG: Sonar shuts down imidiately after clicking 'Cancel'. This happens every single time. (Works fine in Sonar 8.5 on my system)

Console View Fader "Boxes"
2011/05/06 20:09:11
(permalink)
Here's a couple of graphical niggles regarding Console View's faders. Others might have noted similar issues but I figured it couldn't hurt to supply another system's video settings and hardware for troubleshooting: - In Sonar X1's Console View, faders display black boxes in the lower left hand corner of each fader's range, only in the Master section.
- In all sections of the Console View, fader and meter values (the numbers displayed beneath each fader and meter) are positioned too high (or the faders are too low). For example, the focus (white corners that appear over the selected fader) and fader's slider knob abut or overlap the top pixels of those values.
My system: - OS: Windows XP SP3
- Video Card: Matrox Millennium P650
- Video Resolution (dual monitors): 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz
- Color palette: 32-bit color
I hope this is helpful. Dave

Prochannel Plug-in Parameters Incompatible w/ Control Surfaces
2011/05/06 20:50:06
(permalink)
Prochannel's Compressor, EQ and Tube Saturation plug-ins are incompatible with some (all?) control surfaces. For example: - Prochannel's Compressor and Tube Saturation plug-in parameters are not "seen" by Mackie's Control C4. On the C4, paging through a channel's plug-ins reveals all plug-ins and parameters installed in the channel's effects bin but not Prochannel's Compressor or Tube Saturation. Oddly, ProChannel's EQ section does appear and is controllable.
- Adding Prochannel's Compressor, EQ or Tube Saturation plug-in parameters to the MackieControl.ini file has no effect. The C4 still fails to recognize the Compressor and Tube Saturation plug-ins and, for the EQ, doesn't recognize any parameter control preferences specified in the INI file.
I hope this is helpful. Dave
