Project 5 reboot, going by the DJ imaging? God I wish they bought Sibelius already. That'd make my day.

stickman393 Like trailers for trailers, I find announcements about announcements to be tedious. I understand it's because Marketing and buzz-generation, but. Pick one: [ ] It's the end of Cakewalk [ ] It's the end of Sonar [ ] I'm moving to Fruity Loops
It's all good news so unless that's your definition of good news, you are probably on the wrong path.

Not sure about other Cakewalk employees, but at least Joey's got a Gibson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqB-8-PqRfU?t=352
Those are office guitars ;)
So you admit Cakewalk's buying Gibson?

I think Gibson is buying Softube and will incorporate Console 1 fully into Sonar prochannel...would be a good move. That kind of hardware to directly position on any track really quick, and get your work done what you had in mind for that track. And since hardware is so simple and idea is so brilliant it will be industry standard. You don't need 24-32 motorized faders, it's just expensive.

I think the answer is in the still image or the looping video on that teaser page. I'm thinking the most obvious thing is SONAR on Mac, although it's not something that I would like to see since that means eventually the focus on the PC side will fade. Also, it doesn't actually benefit anyone that uses SONAR on PC. I took a close look at the video there and one thing I noticed is that the Melodyne animations are very smooth. Unfortunately Celemony developed Melodyne on Mac and graphically optimized it for Mac. You need different kinds of optimizations for graphics on the PC, and Celemony can't be bothered. It has always been sluggish on the PC. I have a very fast PC right now and for instance scrolling in Melodyne is not nearly as smooth as in the video. Then again the video might have been "Photoshopped" (whatever you call the equivalent for video), so might not mean anything. Hope I'm wrong! Hopefully it is actually something that we as PC users can benefit from

We're not buying Softube but we've got full Console 1 integration coming. And thats not even part of the announcement :)

Sonar on MAC would be huge! Also an idea that hasn't been mentioned is the possibilty of Cloud Collaboration. I know Sonar has Gobbler integration but, Collaboration the way Pro Tools is doing it with 12.5 is different. Hell, how about cloud collaboration with any DAW? Like OMF for cloud?

WOW OMG I just realized that if the Big News is Sonar for MAC, that just might be yet another big Nail in Avid'S Coffin! Don't get me wrong, I'd hate to see Avid die (JK I would totally enjoy this) Their customer service BLOWS, their subscription plan SUCKS. Bring on SONAR FOR MAC!

I think SilkTone is right. My guess it's a brand-new DAW, that's also available on a MAC, and it probably has more Project-5 like capabilities for EDM production. I base this guess on what Michael Hoover said in past interviews, The upcoming feature page for future features only include generic drawings, no real screenshots. There's also haven't been much added to the upcoming features lately. Finally, the fact they used a DJ image makes me think they are trying to target that audience. What do I win? :-)

Assuming it's SONAR for MAC, it would have one heck of an uphill climb in terms of competing on that platform. You would have Pro Tools, Ableton, and Logic I would guess as major market share (maybe Cubase too). Pro Tools, you might be able to sway a few users over. I don't see many moving over from Ableton unless the new version of 'SONAR' has many more features that appeal to a Ableton user. The biggest issue is Logic -- how does Cakewalk compete against the price-point in Logic? You would have a good shot at maybe taking some new users, Cubase and Studio One users, but it's going to take some real features innovative features to do that.

Actually it's SONAR rewritten in Fortran. There's an 80 character limit on your songs, and you need to use punch cards to load the software. Silly joke for those who ever dealt with punch cards :P

I'm not quite sure it's something outside of Sonar. The announcement reads that it is a part of SONAR.
I think that they will introduce Live style clips, for live playback. Maybe a different view, that allows real time drag/drop functionality?
Im not sure.. It has to be something something Live..
