Even taking the marketing out of the equation (which I have no problem with, incidentally) and just looking at the deliverables so far since the Gibson buyout, this is clearly a business with a plan. Where we are today with SPlat, monthly updates etc, isn't just some randomised (sorry I spell in English english ! ) happenstance. The improvements to the audio engine, ARA integration and enhancements, VST3 compatibility, monthly updates, payment model etc etc signify to me anyway, that Gibson have decided to go for gold and take on the best in the business, and beat them at their game. I am really pleased I went with my 80's MIDI sensibilities and loyalties and decided to stay the course with Cakewalk...its been a fun ride so far and I really think at some point the 'industry' at large will have to take notice if it isn't already.

I keep coming back to this forum thread just to read all the speculation. Not even close. Cakewalk should give a nice prize to whomever guesses it correctly! Suffice it to say I think most if not all will be very pleased. There is a gun to my head and I can say no more. Utes are gonna have to wait till D-DAY! 20 days and counting!

This is probably nothing but if you blow up the faded picture of Sonar on the monitor, the faders look a bit odd - sort of 3D ish. Are we getting VR version? Crumbs, what will we see? I have had some mushrooms for dinner so maybe it is me.

Sonar for MAC would be really huge.... huge disappointment about announcement for many Sonar users. I fully agree with SilkTone. It would give nothing for Windows users (probably most of current users? so hard to name it huge for almost all. And in fact it would distract development team in work for fixing Sonar as it still is quite unstable with many bugs. Of course I am not against Sonar will be covering all possible OSes including even Linux but we are talking about announcement which is to be beneficial for almost all Sonar related.

Whoa. That lifetime updates thing is... interesting. So clearly, part of Cakewalk's plans has to be something that adds other revenue streams. Because no company in the world wants me to pay £148 now - which is the price I'm being offered - and then get zero from me for the rest of forever. So.. hmm. Interested, but a little nervous. Some guesses: rental of certain features, like the Slate rental model. Also maybe in app purchases of same. Long term, maybe the core app becomes free. Just speculating, of course.

This seems too good to be true. I logged in, hit BUY NOW, and it's telling me I can get lifetime updates for only $99? How is that even remotely feasible for Cakewalk from an economic standpoint? Does this include only bug fixes, etc.? Or does it include everything I'm currently getting with my yearly membership fee?

Big announcements coming June 1st, 2016 . Good New's Only ? OK , a couple of unsubstantiated Totally Raw Wild guesses over here . From an imagination with out borders . 1, Cakewalk decided to take over the whole Nomad Factory catalog and it is now included it in Splat ... 2, Cakewalk decided to not waste precious time fixing the staff view and went into a partnership / distribution agreement with an Industry Standard Notation Software Company . 3 . a , In a totally bold unexpected move , Cakewalk solidified it's alliance even further with Microsoft . The goal of having a fully self contained autonomous DAW that was unencumbered with the daily day to day chores of general computing needs and maintenance was finally actualized when Microsoft decided that it would be advantageous for them to rewrite a specific version of Windows 10 64 Pro strictly for Professional DAW use only . 3 . b , As a result of that strategic move from Microsoft , Gibson decided to test the waters and come out with a new line of affordable Tascam products that are fully capable of satisfying even the most discriminating of DAW Power user's . This new product line will not only be well suited for Mobile recording and general home studio use, These new units will run SONAR Splat in Windows 10 . all the best, Kenny

I assume the prices are individually tailored to where each customer is in the upgrade tree. It's always been that way.
