Give me a bit of time, but I should have all of you straightened out by mid-afternoon (eastern time). Joey, I for one really appreciate all your efforts in this regard and value your time as well so please don't take any more of it to answer this post specifically. I also have no problem waiting until June 1st for more details but the e-mail efforts from Cake Walk seem to have been an issue for quite some time as witnessed by all the users who have not received this particular e-mail in this thread. I have been a user since Sonar 1 or before and have simply not gotten any e-mails regarding sales/updates etc. I haven't been actually harmed in any way so please don't infer that I am complaining, I just think that the Cake marketing folks should be aware so that its users receive every notification to help inform them of upcoming events/ sales etc. Again thank you and no need to respond to this post directly.

I got the email yesterday, and I like the general approach that's being taken - seems a good way to get upgrades to the core program and then select the options for which add-ons you want. For me at least that will work well as I do not always use a lot of the 3rd party addons (Addictive Drums is great, but I still use EZDrummer as my go-to drum software). However, the pricing of the upgrade seems difficult to understand - some people are quoting $99, some $149. I'm in the UK and my price is £176 (and I know that includes 20% VAT) despite my subscription being valid till January 2018. I did recently redeem a code for a subscription extension which I purchased at AudioDeluxe so perhaps the calculation of pricing is not dynamic and needs to be revised manually to take account of recent changes. Is it just the level that UK pricing has been set at a high level or is something wrong with the store calculation of discounts? Alistair C.

https://shop.cakewalk.com/1244/catalog/category.72268/product.172999 I signed in with this link and got my upgrade price £43 something and paid it. In the fullness of time, have I done the right thing, don't know but it seems like a bargain to me. It's all dependant on what CW see as core updates. I have upgraded from free, nothing is free, essential, basic, products in the past. My concern would be say platinum to diamond or whatever designation they deem. Do we have to pay again?.........and again........and again! We get free core updates but would that include the actual product, ie platinum mk 2

Well, given that the only way to cancel your subscription will be to terminate your life, you will need to threaten them with a gun to your head
Most of us will outlive Cakewalk. Which raises the question: Who's lifetime?

I just purchased the Lifetime upgrade to Splat and also grabbed the AAS ultra analog 2. I figure if I live 1 1/2 more years, then everything will be even. Based on what my doctors tell me, I should be around for a few more years. I might not be able to walk, due to my scoliosis, but able to push keys and bang the drum slowly. Much Thanks to Craig, Andrew, Noel, Joey and all the Bakers.

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk]
kennywtelejazz A question to the Bakers regarding the non core program elements of the upcoming Future SONAR . Are you gonna include Demo's of any of the new Cakewalk buy in features and plugs that may be added to SONAR ? Kenny
Maybe but there are so many more important things to focus on don't you think? We included Rapture Session, I imagine it would be the same deal.
Honestly , I have no possible Idea of what type of work stress you may be currently under . IMHO , you seem to be holding up very well considering we may have been be in The Championship Rounds of this thread for quite some time ... I applaud you for the amazing show of strength , patience and commitment to resole , field and clarify many points that have a number of SONAR end user's confused .... Sir , I tip my hat too you ... Have I answered you OK ? on the whole " don't you think " ? all the best, Kenny
I think my point was there's been a lot of talk about core development and exciting things we can do to enhance the program. Whether we do lite versions of our instruments doesn't really change, whether it was membership or lifetime. It would probably make sense to give customers a demo or lite version of an instrument we put out so imagine that would continue. But bigger picture, there are a lot of good core features we can bring to SONAR. No offense was meant.
Andrew , Anyone who uses a P 5 screen shot for an Avatar is totally more than OK in my book Sure , I get where you are coming from . I'm all for core development and all the new possible future exciting enhancements that may be added to SONAR . There is no doubt in my mind that The Cakewalk Team is so far ahead of the loop when it comes to enhancing SONAR that some folks may not even realize how far ahead of the loop Cakewalk actually is Since brevity is not my strong point , after writing a long winded essay based on my last comment I'm choosing not to share it .. I did mean everything I have said regarding the quality's of your work ethic and the way you walk the walk doing your gig ... My last little comment in the post you quoted was Snarky , for that I take full responsibility and apologize too you for going there. all the best . keep up the good work , Kenny

If I am understanding this I think this a huge benefit to being a long time customer. I am looking forward to this as true perk for hanging around so long. The only caveat is if they change the name in a year or two. They may call it Radar down the line and we start over. LOL

Or if they decide to dispense with brevity and change it to Sound Navigation And Ranging. Sound Navigation And Ranging Platinum. Has a nice ring to it.

I was wondering how they could afford to offer this (and I already signed up and paid for it). Perhaps this was obvious to everyone else, but I didn't catch this at first. I took another look at this language in the offer: - No, because we’ll still be developing new products including new instruments, effects, add-ons, and content. These (and third-party products) will be available for purchase separately. Lifetime updates apply only to SONAR.
It occurred to me that I've been getting new add-ons every few months or so, and updates to those add-ons for few. I guess the next time they release a new plug-in, or an update to Melodyne, etc., that it'll be extra.
Dean L. Surkin - Steinway A (1902, rebuilt 1988), Kawai MP8, Yamaha KX-76; Intel i7-4770K, 32GB, RME AIO; HP ZR30w (great monitor!); Sonar Platinum, Garritan JABB3 and GPO4, VB3 One day, when I have the time, I will learn how to use all the features of Cakewalk 2.0. Oh, wait, Sonar 8.5. What did you say? Sonar version what?
