One thing that bothers me each time when I do LOOP recording is the strange, needless clip split point within the take lanes. All takes are split just at the time point when I stop the recording and it is sometimes quite hard to catch a reasonable point (before or after the musical phrase). It would be very helpful if the clips would not be split within the individual take lanes (for one single loop recording). This would make clip handling (copy, paste, trim, ...) much easier! Marc

Non-destructive track/clip normalization function that adjusts the clip gain to achieve normalization instead of processing the clip? This should naturally keep the envelope shape as it is, just move it vertically to find the normalized gain value...

While that would be cool, I don't think the bakers will be adding any dedicated hardware control surface support to Cakewalk any time soon. Ableton developers built support for Launchpad directly into Live beginning with v9.2. The Cakewalk Matrix supports MIDI learn, so it is simple enough to activate columns (scenes), or individual cells from any MIDI pads, including Launchpad. That being said, if you want the full experience, you should probably be using Live for that.

Zargg Hi. Just wanted to let you know that ASIO4ALL is NOT an ASIO driver. It is a WDM wrapper (if I'm not mistaken) to let you use devices without ASIO driver at low latency. Some people have had success using it though, but I haven't had the need as my devices have its own drivers. If your Zoom has its own drivers, I'd uninstall and leave ASIO4ALL uninstalled. All the best.
I didn't say that ASIO4ALL was a driver, neither that I started out installing it. Trying to explain once more: 1. I made a fresh Windows 10 installation with Cakewalk by Bandlab using the Zoom R24 Asiso driver. Installing Cakewalk by Bandlab broke ASIO completely for every other application that can use ASIO, like MusicBee, Audacity etc. I did not work in Cakewalk by Bandlab either. 2. I then downloaded ASIO4ALL and installed/ uninstalled it. (Just a s a quick test, since I did find some mentioning around it in the earlyer days of Cakewalk) That fixed the broken ASIO for Zooms own driver, but the Zoom R24's DAW control plugin for SONAR made SONAR crash everytime a fader etc. on the R24 was moved. 3. Made a fresh Windows 10 installation once more, installed the original Cakewalk SONAR Professional 23.10.0.14 and did not run into any issues with the R24. Something in Cakewalk by Bandlab conflicts with the R24. Regarding fresh Windows 10 installation, the partitions where completely deleted from the disk before I installed the OS on it.

1) Improved MIDI editing. I would love to see velocities shown in the note as they do in Studio One rather than the current shading of the note color. Shading can be very difficult to see.

For EZDrummer 23 bit VSTi:
If I load a project created in SONAR X3 with an EZD instance into CbB, it works fine. If I create a brand new proj in CbB and load an EZD instance, it hangs and fails to function.

Toontrack released a 64bit version of the original EZD years ago. IIRC, the 32bit versions of their plug-ins do not work reliably in 64bit hosts.

1. Completely revamped and fully featured matrix that supports recording, automation, follow actions, etc like the Live and Bitwig clip launchers. 2. Completely revamped MIDI editor that includes a new drum editor that makes MIDI editing simple and powerful w/o the need for key modifiers or tool switching to do the standard set of tasks: add, delete, change note start/end/pitch/velocity. 3. Better handling of multi-output instruments like drum machines and samplers. One track per channel with all MIDI and audio parameters. 4. Extend aux tracks to aux folders so we can have bus folders. 5. Native Instruments NKS support. Overall I would like to see the focus placed on the development and enhancement of program features, NOT plugin instruments and FX which are available in spades from other sources, many free, of superb quality. I'm not looking for that from my DAW.

How about a way to adjust the font size in the time bar? When I'm mixing, I use a double widescreen monitor setup which means I have to sit back a ways, and these old eyes ain't what they used to be.

Notecrusher 1. Completely revamped and fully featured matrix that supports recording, automation, follow actions, etc like the Live and Bitwig clip launchers.
Even though you cannot use follow actions, there is something that you can do in Cakewalk that you cannot do with Live (I cannot say about Bitwig). You can use the Matrix with step sequencer clips and use the Step Sequencer probability features to automatically generate variations that can be recorded.

Greetings, My suggestion is to allow the ability to color the track shell areas (? Not quite sure what this section/area is called?) within the Tungsten theme. The Mercury theme allows this, but its colors are so bright, that it is not attractive. I am attaching a quick JPG showing the PreSonus Studio One mix view (with colors for each track shell) on top, with a rendering (done in PhotoShop) of what the Tungsten might look like with colors for the track shell/areas (I have not colored all of the tracks -just some in the middle).

can we add support for Unicode text ? like Right-to-Left languages ?
when there are tracks named in such characters, the corresponding takes/wave files are named in the same unicode characters... so when reopening the project, CbB can't find them.

Here's something I wish you would fix that has been broken for a LONG time. The last version I had where it worked was Sonar 8.5. Notice how Snap is turned ON, and the note value selected is 1/4? Can you please fix it so it will actually do that in Staff View rather than creating a mess that looks like this any time I barely miss clicking squarely on the beat? I had a bunch of shortcuts ingrained in my memory for changing note values on the fly, too. I can still do most of those using key bindings, but I can't make a note go to the correct value if you're going to allow it to go anywhere regardless of what I select.

Before sending my master to the mastering office, I use the Audio / Export function. It's normal and everything is fine. Yet it would be much better if it was in the presets an option "Conforms to sample rate and bit detph project." This would allow the mastering studio to conform the file with their own adapted material, without having to work on a title that has already been converted when we do not take care to modify them.

A tiny (easy?) request : When exporting audio in mp3, editing the ID3 features, I'd like to find the album name that has been written in the "Notes" (Browser view). EDIT: It's worse than that, I just noticed. It takes the name and the track number of the last exported mp3 (so from an other project) rather than the name it should take from the "Notes" window.

I've got a suggestion for an improvement to the start page and media browser. 1. To be able to see project notes on the start page when going through existing / recent projects. Same on the media browser when hovering the mouse over projects. 2. Ability to play a preview of a project from the start page & media browser. The way I'd see (2) working, would be to have a "Save Preview" checkbox on the Save dialog All this would do is perform an export of the master bus of say the first 20 seconds (or some configurable length) of your project and save the exported wav file the project's audio folder. Somewhere in the cwp file, it would have a reference to this file as being the project preview. Then, with in the media browser you could play the project preview in the same way you can preview loops. This would be an enormous help for going through unfinished projects which don't have meaningful song names yet.

In the BandLab Assistant on the Apps Tab, when it says "A new version is available", it would be helpful if when you click on "Learn More" that it actually takes you to a page with information on that new version. Perhaps release notes so we could actually learn more about that new version. Currently it only takes you to the CbB webpage.

FR: Export Tracks - file naming Currently you have to give a prefix for track names. However, almost often I'd like to export tracks _without_ any prefix. Track names and numbers could be used exclusively for wav filenames.

I would really like to see a 4th option added to the Drag and Drop options to "Play Clip on Top". I often need to borrow a section from a clip and paste it over another part of the clip (to fix noises, etc.) and currently the only choice I have is to MIX the old with the new or REPLACE the old with the new. The problem with REPLACE is that once that clip segment is dropped in it cannot be moved or edited again without disturbing everything around it. If there was an option to "Play Clip on Top" you could simply move the new overlaid clip around, trim it, etc., NON-DESTRUCTIVELY to the clip beneath. This is how some other DAWs, like Cubase, work. Very helpful. I am currently trying to do this using "Take Lanes" but it is way more cumbersome than simply sliding clips around in the main track view.
