Bub, I had a long response typed up... and I hit a wrong key on this laptop... and it was wiped.
I don't think your machine is at fault for all the issues you've experienced.
But, when you look at the Guitar Rig experience (which persisted outside of X1 - even after reloading a backup image file), that brings the machine/configuration into question.
I'm not saying X1 is bug-free.
I am saying (and I'm not lying about it), X1 can/does perform a lot better for some folks.
If Danny Danzi called with major issues, the first thing I'd have him do is rule out the hardware.
Once you know for sure the "foundation" is rock-solid, then you can move on.
Until then, you're taking your best guess...
ie: It's common to have a bad stick of DDR3. Even if the RAM is brand-new, you need to test to be sure all is well.
In the end, your choices are just that (yours).
Few individuals have racked up the experience I have over the past 15-20 years.
Thus, when I see you struggling, I try to offer advice/encourgement.
I'm paid to make things work...
That means making the hardware as rock-solid as possible.
Trouble-shooting is also a major part of what I (we) do.
Sometimes that means working around problems/limitations/etc.
All things in X1 should work as expected. No argument...
But I'd rather be productive than be "right"... pulling out my hair, raising my blood-pressure, etc.
The scenario is what it is... (imperfect)
Bullet-proof yourself as much as possible.
Factors to consider:
-Hardware and Configuration (test the core hardware to be sure it's 100% stable)
-Workflow (workaround problematic areas like Vvocal, ProChannel, etc)
-Plugins (reduce your collection to native x64 rock-solid fundamentals)
If you look at those having a positive experience with X1, several factors tend to be common:
1. They're generally running current generation hardware
2. They're generally running Win7x64
3. They're generally running known rock-solid audio interfaces
To simply dismiss all "positive" X1 user experiences as lies/exaggerations... is actually doing yourself a disservice.
I've got a client doing major label mixes with X1.
Note that this guy isn't a Cakewalk/Sonar endorsee...
There's nothing holding/binding him to X1... except for the fact that he's productive using it.
