If that's the strategy, then why is that option only available for Producer users, and not the other two X1 versions, and Music Creator, and what have you? I suspect the overall plan is a bit more sophisticated than that.

"then why is that option only available for Producer users"

Because it is a really dumb strategy... it's like selling proprietary light bulbs.

I'm sending the money in out of pity and blind optimism.

Roland reported a $9,000,000 loss last March.   :-(

So that users upgrade to X1 Producer and generate even  more income for Cakewalk. And anyway, there needs to be a sufficient distinction between the versions or people won't pay for the flagship version.

John really, stop making a fool of yourself. The important points I made about the Sonitus EQ and the ProChannel remain. Feel free to clutch at straws and argue yourself into logical cul de sacs by all means but I'm done with this non-sense.

Its only $50. I'm buying it.  I've waisted more money at Red Lobster.

GT! Good to see you. :)

Unfortunately, I have to firmly disagree with you on this ...

There is no such thing as 'wasted' money at Red Lobster! ;) HEHE!

Endless Shrimp Fest is going on as we speak. All ya can eat for $15.99. Mmmm. Shrimp. Glrlglglglrglrgl.

Good point. I stand corrected.   Or better yet I "sit" corrected with a plate full of shrimp.   lol

Bub, I had a long response typed up... and I hit a wrong key on this laptop... and it was wiped.

I don't think your machine is at fault for all the issues you've experienced.
But, when you look at the Guitar Rig experience (which persisted outside of X1 - even after reloading a backup image file), that brings the machine/configuration into question.

I'm not saying X1 is bug-free.
I am saying (and I'm not lying about it), X1 can/does perform a lot better for some folks.

If Danny Danzi called with major issues, the first thing I'd have him do is rule out the hardware.
Once you know for sure the "foundation" is rock-solid, then you can move on.
Until then, you're taking your best guess...
ie:  It's common to have a bad stick of DDR3.  Even if the RAM is brand-new, you need to test to be sure all is well.

In the end, your choices are just that (yours).
Few individuals have racked up the experience I have over the past 15-20 years.
Thus, when I see you struggling, I try to offer advice/encourgement.
I'm paid to make things work...
That means making the hardware as rock-solid as possible.
Trouble-shooting is also a major part of what I (we) do.
Sometimes that means working around problems/limitations/etc.
All things in X1 should work as expected.  No argument...
But I'd rather be productive than be "right"... pulling out my hair, raising my blood-pressure, etc.
The scenario is what it is... (imperfect)
Bullet-proof yourself as much as possible.

Factors to consider:
-Hardware and Configuration  (test the core hardware to be sure it's 100% stable)
-Workflow (workaround problematic areas like Vvocal, ProChannel, etc)
-Plugins (reduce your collection to native x64 rock-solid fundamentals)

If you look at those having a positive experience with X1, several factors tend to be common:
1.  They're generally running current generation hardware
2.  They're generally running Win7x64
3.  They're generally running known rock-solid audio interfaces

To simply dismiss all "positive" X1 user experiences as lies/exaggerations... is actually doing yourself a disservice.

I've got a client doing major label mixes with X1.
Note that this guy isn't a Cakewalk/Sonar endorsee...
There's nothing holding/binding him to X1... except for the fact that he's productive using it.

Hey Jim ... thanks for the reply.

FWIW ... that Guitar Rig problem is the first problem I've had that wasn't fixed by a patch from Cake ...

I'm convinced it's a hardware problem, but I don't know what caused it.

Let me tell you a true story ...

I'm a gamer. I have a PS3 and update it regularly. I rented a western shooter called Red Dead Redemption. I finished it and liked it so much I bought it. Popped it in, PS Network came up and said there was an update for it, so I went ahead and did it. It never worked after that. It would crash at exactly the same spot every single time I started it. I formatted the HDD, did a factory reset, replaced the HDD ... and it still wouldn't work so I returned it, rented it again from the local video store, and it wouldn't work either, even though I had completed it previously. Every other game I've ever rented works except for that one. If you do a search on the net, you'll find I'm not alone.

So what happened? It's very similar to what happened to me with the X1c patch and my CPU spike problem. I did an update, and my hardware won't work properly ever since.

So I don't know. I don't have the resources to be swapping motherboards and CPU's. I did test the RAM with Memtest86+ and it checks ok.

I'm not blaming what happened on anyone, but I have seen software cause problems with hardware in PC's in the past (I've worked on them too since around 90 ~ 91) and I've recently seen it with a gaming console.

Again, thanks for your reply. I'll get it going eventually but right now I just don't have the money to be throwing parts at it. And I needed a break anyways. :)
