Has anyone else had problems getting this template to work in 8.01? It works fine in 7.2 and I can save and then open that project in 8.01, but creating a new project from scratch in 8.01 won't work. Any ideas?

On the template why are all the send areas set to 'off'? The send levels have been adjusted but they are all turned off. Do they need to be on? Thanks for the template, by the way.

Jonas, I loaded your template yesterday morning. Never came out of the studio until about 9:00 pm last night. The template is awesome. I did a little tweaking, added ezdrummer to it, made a female vocalist, and a male vocalist template. I actually recorded a Johnny Cash tune yesterday for fun. (Folsom Prison Blues) Anyway, I have a couple of questions. What is the purpose of the sub (do not touch)? May seem like an obvious question, but is there a reason that the eq's have presets but are not turned on/activated? This isn't a question: I think CamelCrusher really adds allot to the sound. Now I can't remember some of the other questions. Thanks again, this will be my go to template for sure.

What is the purpose of the sub (do not touch)? May seem like an obvious question, but is there a reason that the eq's have presets but are not turned on/activated? The submaster bus is there to allow the splitting of the stereo signal to two seperate mono signals. Jonas maintains that by doing this, it helps to a create wider sounding mix. I haven't made any comparisons to the more standard way of routing, but it doesn't cause any harm doing it this way. The presets on the EQ's (as well as other effects) are there as a guide or starting point. They are not intended to be absolutely used in every situation on every mix. Every mix will require different choices and settings, so they are there available and ready to go if and when you need them.

Man, I'm going to read this thread from top to bottom. I found out about the template from somebody in the songs forum very recently; downloaded it, and modded it with EZ drummer and plugged one of my piano synths into it for permanent - like. I had a listen to just the drums so far (routed the kick, snare and OH exactly like original), and OMG. If the rest of the template is this promising, this is going to be a godsend!!!! I do have some routing questions and questions about levels (like of the sub, MONO L & R channels, etc.), but will read this thread to try and shed some linght. (One thing I noticed though after I imported my entire project into it, with all the busses' effects she uses QUITE a bit of horsepower - horsepower that I have in small measure unfortunately. Any tips on boosting power could be helpful, other than adjusting latency all the way RIGHT or SAFE.) This is awesome!!! Jonus, you ROCK!

Here are some questions from DAVE earlier in this thread that I'd love to have answered as well: - I'm surprised he did not place a compressor on the piano track. It seems to me that this would be pretty standard. - Why does he send only the drum overheads track to the drum bus and not the kick and snare tracks as well? - No compressor on the drum tracks or drum bus seems odd too. - After adjusting all of my individual track levels during the mix process, I found that the Mix Left and Mix Right buses were overloading by almost 5dB (Peak levels). Consequently, the Master bus is overloading a bit too. Is it OK to reduce the levels (say, 6dB) on each of the Mix Left and Mix Right busses to bring everything down to a respectable level? - Shouldn't the output of the "sub master bus (do not touch)" be set to "None"? On closer inspection, I realized that the output of the sub master was being to sent to my sound card. This meant that the sub master output AS WELL as the Master output was being sent to my sound card. So, it should be set to "None" right?

This template is another good reason for Sonar to have the ability to EXPORT/IMPORT projects. The coding pretty much exists already with the track templates code. I want to be able to save parts of a project, with audio/midi,.., to a new project. I want to be able to load this template and then import any of the dozens of existing projects. J

I have a bunch of stock "Project Templates" I created that have always opened with new versions of Sonar. I had to open each Project Template directly as an actual project in S8 and save them as new templates. Then they worked in the "New" project template selector. I figured it was a 'personal problem', but now I know I'm not the only one. P.S. Thanks for the template Jonas!

This template doesn't work for me (I'm on the most recent version of Sonar 8). It loads the basic Sonar screen (main window) and nothing else..??? No tracks, nothing.. only the large transport control. Any ideas how to fix this? Craig

Open it first by itself (not using it as a template for a project) and save it. After that it started to work for me.

I have threatened to update the template. I have a couple of ideas I've been wanting to add to it that involve some more complex signal routing. The problem is that I'd have to explain myself.

jsaras, I have a couple of questions. I've been using a tweaked version of you template for a while now. I was messing with the template tonight, and noticed some questionable routing. I just want to verify that the routing is correct. Drum bus: Output to submaster buss (do not touch) Submaster Bus: Output to Motu Audio Asio Main outs 1&2 Mix L: Output to Master out Mix R: Output to Master out Master out: Output to Motu audio Asio main outs 1&2 All send busses: Output to submaster, which again is sent out to Motu audio asio main outs 1&2 I guess my main question (no pun intended) is: should the submaster bus be output to the master? This way all of the send busses would also go out to the maser instead of the Motu audio asio main 1&2. Thanks in advance for any help.

Basically, everything goes to to the Submaster bus which goes into the Master which then feeds your sound card.
