I'm sure there isn't an answer for this, yet, but I'd like to know just the same:

Question:
For those of us who wish to stick with SONAR 2017.09, we were promised that when Cakewalk was wound down, we would be provided with a mechanism to re-authenticate our existing code assets without relying on the Cakewalk authentication server.

Will this promise still be kept? I have no expectations of the servers being maintained after this acquisition goes through.

I'm not sure where to start. Meng you are a class act and I think it speaks volumes to have the new owner of the company come and engage with our users on day one. I am overjoyed to see this happen! When all this went down last November, it was very emotional for all of us and heartbreaking to see loyal users potentially left out in the cold, especially since the last few years were the golden years of SONAR development.

When I first met Meng, he spoke to me about his vision for BandLab and the future of music software and I was convinced that this was one of the most dynamic and forward thinking companies I had come across in the music space. There is no better heir to Cakewalk's legacy I can think of and I'm sure Gibson felt the same way! Meng is also a terrific blues guitar player BTW!!
Besides Meng, BandLab has some amazingly talented and competent engineers and staff. I'm honored to be part of his team and working on the next generation of music software, not just continuing the development of what Cakewalk was best known for, but taking it to the next level. With BandLab's deeply integrated social platform and vision there could be some truly exciting possibilities that I look forward to exploring in the near future.

I think you can all be confident that not only will SONAR live on but that it will evolve in ways we didn't imagine. Thank you Meng and BandLab for making Cakewalk walk again!

PS: Oh and super happy to have my long time colleague Ben Staton join me again!

Excellent news and thank you for the information. I have been using Cakewalk products for twenty years and have been a Sonar Platinum lifetime user and consider it the best DAW available, I'm sure not everyone agrees but that's my personal opinion.  It's great to know that we will be able to continue our workflow and look forward to the future with Cakewalk.  It's great that Noel and Ben will be on board also. Thanks for the good news and all the best to the BandLab family looking forward to more information.

Welcome Meng, and welcome back Noel.

If the months and years ahead are half as good as your introduction letter, I suspect we'll be very good friends indeed. Those of us who have stuck with and fallen in love with Sonar over the years have recently had a very sobering realisation as to what is on offer elsewhere, and frankly, it is bleak compared to what this DAW and this vibrant community has become. It was always forward thinking and pioneering - and now it seems even more vision and drive will be added to it.

I am personally really, really looking forward to NOT worrying about other DAWs for a long long time. Phew! :O)

This is good news.
I've been working with a couple other DAWS since the announcement of Cakewalk folding and I've got to say, they just don't stack up. Other opinions may vary, but for me, Sonar is just the right fit.

Funny, yesterday I notice how this forum was just at a all time low for posts and participants. I've taken to posting questions in Software because that's been the only active sub  forum. There seems to be about 5 of us left here yesterday and I was seriously thinking of giving up on this forum myself . Look at all the people replying to this thread. Most I don't recognize as regulars.
So we hit bottom yesterday and here we go again, it's all uphill from here.

I can just see all those defectors returning now :)

Excellent news!

Even though I've also now started learning and using Cubase, I'm really looking forward to see what you do with "the product that was SONAR " going forwards - it still feels the best integrated with modern Windows with its touch, pen and Surface Dial support (was going to get a Dial, but put that on hold with original announcement) and some of the workflows are by far and away still the best (mainly soft-synth work, with some loops for my music).

Great news that some of the team have come across - and love that you've engaged with the community so quickly, and can I suggest that this should be pinned in the forum so everyone can see it!

Delighted to hear this...The best music tech news of the year. I have used Cakewalk since day one. Up until recently felt that it was one of the best software investments that I have ever made. Own many versions and will continue upgrading as the product evolves. Shame on Gibson...As an owner of many of their guitars I never thought I would say that. Best wishes and success for supporting the best product of its kind for Windows.
