I have been absent from the forums since the bad news last year. It has been with heavy heart that I started using the other DAWs to choose as my main workshop. It is true that all DAWs are different and have great features all their own, but the hole left in my workspace for the lack of Sonar was as big as the Grand Canyon!!!!! It has been downright depressing to have to find workarounds to compensate for tools and techniques that I took for granted in Sonar. I am cautiously optimistic about this buyout because of what we all have been put through! Let it not be said that for the first time since the bad news broke that I am once again smiling and anticipating good things to come once more for my favorite DAW. I am also so happy to hear that some of the original staff at Cakewalk will be back to work!!! Menq, we humbly thank you for breathing life back in to our community and our DAW! May your investment and faith in us prove to be invaluable. Bless You,sir!!!!!!

Though we never post anything here, we are China Distributor of Cakewalk, that day Roland Distributor gave up both Cakewalk and me, and I picked it up and opened company just for dealing with Cakewalk. We never gave up Cakewalk through these short period, now we finally find a clearer future. We can't wait to walk with you together. Thank you all. For all the people I have met, you are a wonderful team.

Thanks Meng!
I don't think I can ever tell you how grateful I am... and I'm sure many others feel this way.
I could not find another DAW to satisfy me and it made for a very gray future... now bright and shiny!
Having been with Cakewalk since Cakewalk for Windows it has been and will continue to be a joy in my life.
Wonderful to have Noel and Ben still onboard!

This is awesome news! Welcome Meng! I ventured to Samplitude Pro X3 and found it pretty good and started learning it...but there was always something missing. So I just kept going back to Sonar as it's still the best DAW for me and I just hoped it was going to keep working. Firing it up every day has the accompanying mixed emotions of anticipation and holding my breath that it's going to work...I think the latter is plainly known as anxiety. So I'm really pleased to hear that Sonar lives in perhaps what will be another incarnation. Obviously, there continues to be a large fan base for it and that speaks volumes for the quality of this program that helps us make great music. Long live Sonar and Mr Meng and associates...and Bandlab. +1

Coming home, firing up the computer and seeing all of the new messages on the forum I was worried it was bad news. Instead, the announcement by BandLab of purchasing and continuing the development of SONAR is really, really good news. And as others have said before, Thank You for stepping in and keeping this fine piece of software not just in production, but announcing that the plan is continued improvement. I do want to say one thing Noel - you told us to keep the faith when things looked bleak. You were absolutely right. I want to thank you for your insight during that time. I also want to thank you for the work you have done both as developer and a leader with SONAR, and I look forward to the good work I know you and the other bakers will continue to do. Life Is Good!

I await with enthusiasm and caution...I, too, had decided that I needed to stop generating my content/music on a platform that could within a year or so, be dead with "the next Windows 10 upgrade" I went ahead and grabbed the Samplitude offer...but that DAW just doesn't connect with me, although SoundForge is probably worth what I paid and it is awesome. I have been learning/using Reaper increasingly (there is now a plugin to port over my SONAR Projects which I'm doing) and it's a pretty good DAW. I'm more efficient with it but there are more than a few features that I miss from SONAR. I would probably happily come back if I thought that Cakewalk would reliably return, but with each week I get more comfortable with Reaper.

I knew that Cake could get out of this situation. But frankly I was surprised they got away from Gibson faster than I imagined. I thought you might have heard of something only between April and May 2018.
I thank Bandlab with all my heart for solving this problem. I'm looking forward to seeing the next shots that Cakewalk will make, I'm expecting a more aggressive Cakewalk willing to challenge competitors beyond the Windows system. Very, very pleased with that. Know that I'm using Sonar every day!

Noel I remember when I came here to tell people that who was broken was Gibson and a hater tried to say that the problem was Cakewalk. You came and agreed and clarified things and left everyone optimistic about the future. Thank you Noel, we are ready for new products and upgrades. Very anxiously you burned the tongues of opportunistic competitors who were desperate to catch Cake fans. Very, very happy that everything was solved very fast! You guys are awesome, and Sonar will always be my favorite Daw. That was the best news of the last months. My heart was broken, but now I feel like I've gained a new heart... CAKE IS LIVE FOREVER!

I have no idea how this is going to unfold. I hope it unfolds well. But I'm very glad to hear that Noel and Ben have a hand in it. Shame things didn't pan out for Cakewalk as a whole, and all its staff.
But to me as an end user, the saddest thing of all was the idea that this huge 30 year development project with contributions from developers past and present was just going to be thrown away. Cakewalk is literally as old as Windows itself, and I felt like I was watching a wonderful old building being knocked down for no good reason. I'm glad it's going to stay up. Whether I like the refurb is an open question, but it's a project that has all my goodwill.
