EDIT!!! This post is inaccurate. Please refer to post #130. My apologies. Yours truly, Beepster. @bob... The $79 price is the upgrade of GR4 that comes with Sonar. However I think you may have to register and upgrade the GR4 LE version that comes with Sonar by creating a Native Instruments account. You end up with GR4.2 or something by doing that and then you should qualify for the $79 upgrade. I am indeed curious about this Amplitude that everyone talks about. Some people have been making me think it was included in X1 but I can't seem to find it and I bought the Suite so I should have gotten everything. If it is in there somewhere I'd like to try it out. I also see some Sonar amp sims in my effects toolbox as well. Are those any good? I might see if Amplitude has a demo or something. I have so little time to screw with this crap though. Again it's getting late and I haven't even gotten a chance to fire up my system today. It's peeving me off. Cheers.

H'mm I reckon [like everything] we in Australia, get a different server, with different prices, cause I paid 99 USD! Amplitube X-Gear[very basic],came with X1 Studio ONLY,which I bought [box] and then I got a trial of Amp Metal, that is the full program, that works again if I do a Dell factory re-image,Amp3 is free once you register with IK. I then bought another box of X1 Producer as it was cheap [for a change!],and I registered with N.I. and got Guitar Rig 4 to 5,also I got a little more with Komplete 8 Elements, but OUR,upgrade price for G5 player-same as G4 LE,to GR5 Pro,is certainly 99,not 79. Hope that helps[sorry I type with one finger] I just woke up here. Take Care Bob

EDIT!!! This post is inaccurate. Please refer to post #130. My apologies. Yours truly, Beepster. @bob... No worries, man. I've drank two beers tonight and seem to be looped for some bizarre reason. WTH?! Anyway, the $99 vs. $79 price actually got discussed upthread too. Some people seem to just only be getting the $99 option even in the US. It's a little weird. I'm a little disappointed if Amplitude was included in Studio and I did not get it with the Suite. That's why I bought the bleedin' Suite... so I'd get EVERYTHING. Whatever. Not gonna rail off about that. It's probably just the way the cross company marketing worked out. If I qualify for Amplitude though I want it. I am multi talented but I am mainly a guitar player and when I start releasing music again (which is why I bought X1) people are gonna expect quality from my guitar sound. It really is the most important thing to me. I know I should just get proper amps and mics and yadda yadda but the stuff I need, want and would actually invest real money into will cost thousands of dollars and because of my health I can't really move big gear around nor do I have the luxury of cranking anything up to decent recording levels anymore. I was (and am) hoping I could achieve the results I am looking for with X1 Expanded and GR5. I'll check out the demo and hopefully that elicits some more reasonable results. Sorry for the block of text. Cheers.

As was previously discussed and verified by Native Instruments, to get the GR5 upgrade for $79 you must have the full version of GR4. What comes with Sonar is a light edition (LE) and the upgrade price is $99. Please stop spreading the rumour that people can get it for $79 already !!!!!!!!! It's already been discussed adnauseum....

EDIT!!! This post is REALLY inaccurate and I had to take out the hyperlink because of the forum software. Please refer to post #130. My apologies. Yours truly, Beepster. @djwayne... I am able to upgrade to GR5 for $79. It is fact. I am not lying nor spreading false information. It really does seem to be some weird discrepancy somewhere. I wouldn't do that, man. Even Native Instruments website says it is $79. At least that is what it says here in Canada. Please stop calling me a liar. It's not cool.

Check the sales info, with Sonar comes GR4 LE. I've already gone to the NI website and yes if you have the FULL VERSION of GR4 you can get it for $79.....The FULL version of GR4 does NOT COME WITH SONAR !!!!!!! So anybody who bought Sonar producer has the LE version whether you know it or not. To upgrade the LE version, the price is $99... I'm done explaining it to you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can get it for $79 bucks then you should get it. The rest of us has to pay $99.

To be eligible for the "Update" you have to own a previous version. Are you sure you're looking at the third not second option in the dropdown menu? I'm a Waves GR3 fan, also have the Line 6 stuff.

EDIT!!! This post is inaccurate. Please refer to post #130. My apologies. Yours truly, Beepster. And I will explain this one more time to YOU. You can UPGRADE to the full version of GR4 with that LE version. That is what I did and now I can upgrade to GR5. Maybe I got some special version with the X1 Suite but the disc and the program said GR4 LE. My registration code was for GR4LE. The sticker on the CD jacket said GR4 LE. When I installed it my computer said I had GR4 LE. When I registered it and checked my NI store account I had a full upgrade to GR4.2.something waiting for me. When I installed that upgrade my computer said I had GR4.2.something installed. After that I had access to the $79 GR5 upgrade available to me in my NI account. I am not lying. I am NOT making this up. The reason the discussion came up in the first place was because I was trying to save everyone $20 and/or have access to the full version of GR4 if they did actually have access to it without realizing. It was a bit of an ordeal for me to do it when I did it so it could be something others had overlooked. If that is NOT the case it doesn't hurt for them to at least look into it. I do not see how I could POSSIBLY gain from lying about this. Frankly I'm a little irked you are insinuating that so I am going to leave this thread and discuss this issue elsewhere. Thank you and goodbye. To everyone else my apologies for being snippy. I just don't like being called a liar. Cheers.

@SToons... I think I had the upgrade for GR5 at $99 before I downloaded the free GR4 upgrade. We can talk about this in another thread. I don't wanna get yelled at again. Cheers, dude.

So I'm gonna eat my words here... kind of. In the interest of NOT putting out false information I have spent the past hour looking into all this. This discussion on price started by someone asking about why they did not have the presets in a specific youtube video. I said I was actually able to get those sounds using the included copy of GR4 after I updated. What was actually happening is the presets in that video are extremely similar to many of the presets in my current version of GR4. Right down to style and sound. However they are NOT the exact presets in that video. The names are similar. The sounds are similar but they are NOT the same presets after I closely inspected the video in comparison to my version of GR. There were different amps and effects being used. My apologies Randy on that one. Now to the upgrade path. So I DO have Guitar Rig 4.2.2 installed. I checked the splash screen. I did indeed upgrade from the initial GR4 LE that came on my Sonar X1 Production Suite Disc 1. It has the serial number and everything on it. It says it is GR4 LE and that is what I installed. After I created my NI store account I had a downloadedable GR4 full update waiting for me which I obviously downloaded and installed. Here are the details (minus serial numbers) on the splash screen... Guitar Rig 4 Version: 4.2.2 License type: Full To me that indicates I do indeed have a full version of GR4... however NI doesn't seem to agree and I will likely contact them about it because THIS is what I am now getting in my store account. I added the prices after the quotes... "As an Owner of Guitar Rig 4 LE Sonar X1 Producer you qalify for the upgrade" $99 "Update for users of Guitar Rig 1-4" $79 "None of the qualifying products are in your account" So essentially my installation is telling me I have a FULL version of GR4. The Native Instruments site is telling me that to upgrade to GR5 I need to have FULL version of GR4 to qualify for the $79 update as opposed to the $99 upgrade. However for some reason I do NOT qualify for the $79 update price because who the bloody hell knows. This is what led to my confusion. To put it more simply when I am told I qualify for x if I have y then I pretty much assume I qualify for y. I was misled and I will likely try to sort this out NOT for the $20 but because I think it stinks and they should be more clear. So yes... my bad, guys. I was mistaken. I do not try to deliberately provide false info and I am more than willing to accept when I have made a mistake but hopefully you can see how my error was made. I wasn't even arguing the point at first but our gracious host decided to slam me so I got a little defensive. When I have a little time I will go back and edit all my posts in this thread and after I discuss this with NI I will try to report back to the forum. Take care, all and again my apologies.

Good, now we can move on...if saving $20 bucks is so important, why don't you get the Scuffham program for $75 ?? That also has some great sounds in it. My demo has expired but I have good memories of the program....

That wasn't the point but it doesn't matter. For anyone who is curious I called NI to see if I missed a step or if they could explain the issue further. The result was that although my software is saying it is GR 4.2.2 Full version I am only registered as having the GR4 LE Sonar X1 Producer version. The support fellow said he did not know why my program was claiming it was a full version and seemed to be confused by that fact himself. So there ya have it. I somehow have a full version but don't.

Well that's helpful. If you actually read what I posted you would see that it WAS indeed a discrepancy that caused my confusion (and I doubt I'm the first). The GR5 $79 update requires GR4 full. My splash screen says I have GR4 full. In non bizarro world that would normally mean I would qualify for the $79 price. You didn't even know what I was talking about and just freaked out and accused me of intentionally spreading false info to the forum. Even the guy at NI was confused so don't be smug. Good day.

I have the same splash screen you do, I told you a hundred times, the full version of GR4 does NOT come with Sonar. You just don't listen.

If you had read my posts and replied to what I was saying instead of flying off the handle I would have been able to figure it out. I said the whole time (except at the very end) that I was not sure exactly what was up. I WAS listening to you but you weren't providing usable info. You said nothing about your version information or your install procedure. You were just trying to shout me down. Very counter productive and insulting especially when I was just trying to help. Later.
