The Program will install the 64 bit plugins and I believe you will just have to drop your license files in the folder with the plugins...
I keep my license files backed up in case of emergencies...
That's all an assumption, but would seem logical...

As much as I like the Mixbus extra plugins (I bought the complete v2 last year), I am just ordering the $40 update, and not getting their Lookahead compressor. Not that it is not a good deal, but I have other compressors with this feature already that do that. BTW, I did finally get my email. So now it is off to ordering v3 and relearning my way around Mixbus workflow.

I can't bring myself to jump into MB at this time but I do like the concept of a tailored sound based on a very popular analog console. I played enough studio drum sessions with a Harrison board in my day. However, I have been enjoying the H-EQ from Waves that helps me apply different sounding EQ's to tracks which gives me insight into what other console EQ emulators sound like. It's all good and refreshing. Maybe someday I will try out MB product but for now, I am happy with my DAWS and 3rd party EQ's.

Got it this morning! I just did some quick down and dirty testing. At first it was crashing quite a bit but it seemed like the more I restarted it the program ironed out and the crashing stopped. Almost like it was settling in. I am on Windows 7 on desktop and Windows 8.1 on laptop. I have to say that it is a welcome change to have midi instruments now! I have had no issues with the midi controller at all. Now I just have to learn the midi side of this thing a little better and it should be a great tool in the bag. And with a resounding NOOOOOO! I say you will have to pry Sonar from my cold, dead hands! BTW, there is NO NOTATION in Mixbus 3! hee-hee

Have not got to melodyne yet. I've been scanning for about an hour and it keeps kicking things out that I know are valid 64bit vsts. I need to research how to look at what was black listed and see if I can fix them somehow.

bapu Since I only ever experimented with MB2.x I intend to completely deinstall it before I install MB3 64bit.
I asked Harrison about that and received the two answers below: Hi Rick, Yes, you can do that if you like but just be aware that if you were previously running 32-bit Mixbus (on Windows presumably?) your plugins will all be 32-bit as well. They won't work any more until you obtain 64-bit versions. If you've got any important work in progress, it might be safer to run both versions in parallel for a while until you're confident about changing over permanently. I highly encourage you to keep v2.5 installed to work on your older sessions. There have been some changes to the signal flow of v3 that will change the sound of your old sessions. And a few features (such as channelstrip eq/compressor automation) are not carried over from v2 to v3. I'm in the same boat as I only had one project that had been committed to MF2.5 and has since been captured in other places. I am now wishing that I would have removed 2.5 before installing 3.0

Clint, I did get Melodyne to scan in but when I open it, it says it is not licensed and is in playback mode. Studio One v3 does the same thing to me though. I can run Melodyne Editor in standalone mode and everything is fine there. Maybe something I'm doing wrong with the vst's. What I can't get is Ozone 5 to scan in and there is no listing in the Black List folder and Ben is too busy right now with easier issues so I'll wait until he has time. I think Carl said he had issues scanning Ozone also?

I installed last night with no issues at first. I first tried audio tracks and they worked great. Then I added midi tracks, but that started crashing Mixbus after a few minutes, but then it got better like it was learning from the previous crashes. However, I had one real head banging dilemma--I had the hardest time trying to figure out how to change the midi instrument in a track where midi was already installed. It was clear when adding the midi track how to insert any instrument, but when I wanted to change the instrument for another one, I could not figure it out (at first). So I read the manual, but that was no help at all. In fact, the manual is anemic and insufficent; I would say that Harrison really needs to write a real manual that is more than a few pages long. Finally, I learned to remove the instrument and to use the plugin manager to install an instrument on the already established midi track. I know there is a learning curve, and I am willing to put the effort in. Having worked with Sonar since its inception, and with Studio One for a couple year, I find Mixbus, well, different. I love the console work flow, but the midi workflow seems strange, if not just different. BTW, I honestly love the "character", that "Harrison sound", that this Mixbus gives to audio tracks. They have that nailed down and absolutely have it right. However, their newness to the midi instrument world shows in how they have documented it (or not) and how midi routing and instruments are added to tracks. Perhaps this is a problem with Ardour as its platform; I do not know. Still, it is nice to have midi as an option. Hopefully, a better manual will come, and the crashing will get less frequent, or some updates will arrive soon. Just my 2 cents! [[EDIT: I need to make a correction. I just found the pdf version of the Mixbus3 manual and it is 324 pages long. So I apologize for misleading anyone. The midi section (in my opinion) still needs a description of how to change instruments; it mentions how to load them when creating a midi track, but not how to change them. Nevertheless, I was wrong about the length of the online manual; it is more than a few pages, actually 324 pages. Here is a link: http://www.harrisonconsol...opic/about-this-manual]]

Thanx for the review Celius.
Most definitely they have "the sound" down...I also think that the stereo field in Mixbus seems "wider" when I listen...but that may just be me...
In any event, MB3 can only improve with time...so that's good to know...

rtucker55 I just noticed something else on the Harrison website: The initial release of Mixbus v3 is shipping with control-surface protocols disabled. An upcoming release will re-enable the control protocols, which include MIDI controllers, Mackie fader protocols, and OSC ethernet control. Guess I need to give them a call Thursday because if I can't use a MIDI controller (keyboard) it would not be very use full for me.
I noticed this too, and had a brief exchange with Ben on Gearslutz about it. Midi keyboards are supported, it is just the protocols for control sufaces that are disabled. The wording was ambiguous in their FAQ. I got an upgrade email today, but don't know if I want to bite. I had to abandon the previous version because of stability problems. The console workflow was cool, and it sounded great. But this is of little use if it runs sporadically and unpredictably. So I'm sitting back watching. Anyone reporting success or failure please include your OS specs. Thanks.

Mixbus 3 working great here. All plugins scanned in fine...no crashes so far. I haven't tried midi yet, just importing some wav files and looking around. I'm glad I used ardour for a few weeks to get familiar. If anyone has questions or wants me to try something...let me know.

Well, this is interesting. I must have done something wrong during the install and scan. I just checked my main 64bit vst folder and several of my vsts/vstis have a .fsi, or .fsb, or .err placed after the .dll. So I see things like iZotope Ozone5.dll.fsb and iZotope Ozone5.dll.err The ones with the .fsb and .err are the ones that do not show up in MF3. It appears that MF3 is marking my vsts vs. putting the blacklist info in the folder it belongs in. It may be time for a System restore.

Definitely an issue with Ozone. I haven't noticed the adding on to the end of the .dll but I'll check. I really would like to get Ozone working in Mixbus 3 but it may be interesting to see what can be done with just the tools in mb. One other issue has reared it's head! I am running 2 Studio-Capture interfaces in ASIO. All my other DAWs see all the available inputs and outputs. Mixbus 3 only sees 1 interface. Mixbus 2 sees all of them! Why not 3? Anyone have a hint?

After my little discovery above I restored my machine from an system image I made prior to installation. I have followed your footsteps by uninstalling MB2.5 and the old Ardour and removed all old mixbus folders. I did leave the plugin .txt license files in the home directory. I am going to make another image with the machine clean and then try another MB3 install. Hope things go better this time. Support seems swamped but they are replying in pretty quick order. Hope things get better for you bapu!

I'm not hearing any audio problems. Although I've only use one stereo track so far...The plugin thing just seems to be making a tag or identifier of some sort for Mixbus 3. That doesn't bother me. I'm going to be glad to delete my 32 bit dlls. I left Mixbus 2.5 installed. I may delete it later, but I thought It may be smart to keep it for a while. I need to delete Mixbus 2.5, MC6, Sonar X1, X2, AND X3 to free up some hard drive space at some point.

I'll probably eventually have to make a folder for Mixbus 3 plugins. All of Sonar's plugins scanned in, but a lot will only work in Sonar...i.e. Nomad Blue tubes. I don't want the LV2 stuff. I won't be buying any of those. I'll probably delete them too. Plugin management could be cleaned up a bit.

My opinion! I have 2.5 on both my desktop and laptop. It may come in handy for older projects but I would not waste the time or space if you have never had Mixbus older versions. You get both the 32 and 64 bit versions of 3 and just starting out I would stick with those. Although pretty soon 32 bit versions of anything will be prehistoric and die.

Now that's it both 32b & 64b make sure to check if you made a separate 'harrisionx86' vst folder to avoid confusion or issues.
