ALERT! I installed the 32 bit version this morning after running the 64 bit version of mixbus 3 thru the ringer all day yesterday! WHAM! The 32 bit version wrecked the 64 bit version! Something happened to the video player in the 64 bit version and the 32 bit version would not iinitialize!
I immediately uninstalled the 32 bit but the damage was already done to the 64! I ended up having to completely uninstall 64 and reinstall. All is good now but it was rather scary for about 15 to 30 minutes.

I have my machine cleaned up now and I believe I am going to wait for an update prior to re-install. Too many issues currently. They'll get some things fixed and it will be fun to play with again.

Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

Since my plug in licenses are on the laptop(with 2.5) and I want to figure that out. How to get them or the licenses on to the desktop PC.  I'll only do the 64 bit, on the desktop.
Seems like not being in a rush is crucial! LOL

Okay I can confirm (for me at least) Izotope Nectar 2 nor elements is working in Mix3us. They will scan and load but they will pass no sound. I'm trying to find out how many of the bundled Sonar plugins work. LP64 caused my PC to lockup so I'm not going to try LPcomp. Channel tools works, Boost11 works...of course the Breverb and BT Nomad doesn't. Everything else is working great. CPU is around 10 to 15%. DSP 14%.

Re: Mixbus 3 is coming online today (7/7/2015) 2015/07/10 20:24:00 (permalink)
Here is some more info on midi on Mixbus.  I have played more with it, and while it works reasonably well, it is not really a complex midi sequencer.  It is fine for adding some midi, but I do not see it replacing Sonar or even Studio One for heavy midi track routing.  Then, today I just noticed that one of the Harrison tech persons just confirmed this over on their Mixbus forum when asked about midi workflow.  This is what the Harrison tech said:

"Mixbus is not intended to be a "MIDI sequencer" or an arranger. Instead it is optimized to record, edit, mix and master "real" audio.

However, even very audio-centric recordists "occasionally" want some MIDI and virtual instruments. Mixbus is going to work really great for that kind of person.

If you're into film scoring, you'll probably want to use something else for MIDI sequencing, and then use Mixbus to mix the tracks into a polished deliverable."
 End of quote.

Again, midi does work (and works well), but I will probably still use Sonar for most of my more intense midi projects, but if I just need to add a couple of midi tracks here and there, then Mixbus sees designed for that.  Perhaps others with more use of it can add to this, or correct this and give their experience.

MB3 doesn't seem to like the Saffire 24pro. I notice when I try to open a new or existing project the lights on my Saffire blink and MB3 doesn't see it and crashes so I can't open anything. If I keep trying to load a project I might get lucky and it will see the Saffire and open  project. MB3 won't see Waves plugins. I have to go to their forum and see if I can find some info.

Sometimes it crashes. :-( It may be reacting to Zoomtext though. I am loving the EQ! I've only tried stock FX and they're working great. Mostly I'm just learning to get around the program working on a master. I think I'll only ever use this program for mastering.

I upgraded to v3. I didn't like the workflow in V2 very much and I don't like it much now. I'm glad they've added support for Midi and Virtual Instruments, but Loading a softsynth is rather awkward to me. Not a total waste of $40 bux though. It does add a nice polish to my stereo tracks imported from Sonar. As a DAW... I'm not liking it.

So far, here are the VSTi's that I have not been able to get to work in Mixbus3 (64bit):
Ezkeys (crashes mixbus)
SampleTank3 (crashes mixbus)
Rapture Pro (crashes mixbus)  [Dim Pro works fine]

I have not tried all my vsti's but I went through most and they worked fine.  Strange that Ezkeys did not work, but Ezdrummer and Superior Drummer worked.

So far have not been able to get Ozone 4 or Ozone 5 to show up; they scan, but do not show up in the plugin list.  I am still working through the audio fx vsts, but so far only these two don't show.

I bought the upgrade to V3, but I have a question.
You're supposed to put the license in your "home" folder, and though they explain where it is in a video, I can't find it.
My desktop doesn't seem to have a home folder, certainly not where they say it is. (Windows 8.1)

So far I have MB3 rolling along. The mixer is too small. I can't really read the bus names.
And, if you really want to lock it up and watch it crash and burn open an MB2 project in MB3.
I have read some on the forums and such and it is suggested to NOT open MB2 projects in MB3.
No biggie I was just trying to run with something already setup.
I just imported those tracks into MB3 so that I could spend some time with it.
It's pretty cool, but Sonar is my choice for tracking and such, but man does MB make mixing fun and the finished product sure does shine.

Thanks guys. Scott Garrigus told me how that works so, I am good to go, though a little cautious with all the issues listed above!

There actually isn't a folder there called Home on my desktop, but I know where to put it. My FX Essentials license is in the same place on the laptop (Windows 7).

I had the same problem with the mixer being to small. Somehow it magically got bigger or it has something to do with font scaling. Goto: Edit/preferences and select the GUI tab.

Re: Mixbus 3 is coming online today (7/7/2015) 2015/07/13 16:54:39 (permalink)
I have just got Mixbus V3 installed.  I am running the 64 bit version on Win 7.  It is all running OK but still a little glitchy here and there. Crashes around changing audio buffer settings, opening and closing too.

PSP Xenon does not run inside Mixbus 3 at all well.  There is something seriously wrong. Xenon is perfect for me inside other DAW's (SOP)  But inside MB3 it only seems to be working on the left channel which is not much chop.  Also it sounds like an out of phase sound with half the music missing and hollow, pretty weird.  When you bypass it all is normal again.

I have quite a few of their plugins and they all work fine.  Does not like Xenon right now for me anyway.  I have alerted them to it in case they don't know.  I bet an update will come out soon with some fixes hopefully this being one because I cannot use it all now as it is.

Other third party plugs work fine. I have the Nomal Pultec EQ and it is functioning normally inside Mixbus.  I like Mixbus for mastering in some situations genre wise.  I am about to master a more acoustic rock sound album so I think it will be perfect for it.

Crashes around changing audio buffer settings, opening and closing too.

Ardour4 has the same problem so I think this needs to be fixed in the core application.

Remember MB3 is based on Ardour4.

You can report that bug to Harrison but i suspect it would get faster attention if you reported it to the Ardour development team.

MB3 crashes constantly for me. Splitting clips, closing, opening a session,etc... I can't use it in the current state it's in. I have 3 other DAWS installed on my audio PC and they all work perfectly fine. Also, ezkeys crashes MB3 instantly. I'm in touch with tech support about this, but was told that the problems I am having have not been reported by anyone else? Hope they fix this thing and soon.

Too many problems here. I'll wait for updates before trying again.

Most of my glitches seem to be based on my environment. I have CODE24 Cloud backup service. I forgot to suspend it while using my DAW (any DAW, SONAR, MB3 etc.).

It certainly is not unusable for me. Once it settles down and I have got it working I can work for hours on it without issues.  But there are a few things that need to be addressed for sure. Xenon being one for me as I do like it as the last mastering processor.

There are the good things. The signal flow is a lot more interesting now and the sound of it might be for the better too. Have not tested it yet on that front but am about to.

I'm happy to hear it is working out for you Jeff but, I'm not having that kind of experience.

I can't wait to get it installed again and start using it but I'm convinced there is nothing I can do on my end to make that happen. Once they release an update/fix for the many issues I'll give it another shot. I am confident they are working very hard to get those fixes out.

Purrrfect Audio DAW here.  Wow!...

I haven't installed it yet, but am watching and hoping it'll all get sorted. I, too have Xenon, Jeff, so please post if you find a work around.
I'm glad to have it and am glad that I'm not in a hurry to use it! LOL
