Bob, thanks for your patience. Checked with other cable, same result, it does not move to complete installation. I will turn to Bronze Member before I track my first track

OK IF your attempt with a new cable does not work, We will try two different driver versions from the Roland site. They are not made for Win 7, but sometimes Vista and even XP drivers sometimes work better than the ones they release for Win 7. Given that this driver we have been trying to install is VERSION 1, this may be something contributing to this problem. So, have you installed using a different cable? trying that again with other USB ports? If no to the above, then 1. Download the Vista 64-bit driver: http://www.rolandus.com/s...A_25_win_vista_x64.zip 2. While you are there, also download the XP x-64 driver too: http://www.rolandus.com/s...a/UA25_XPx64Drv101.EXE After downloading both of these, start with the Vista one - unzip it and copy contents to another folder first, then run the install. If THAT does not work, unzip the XP driver folder, copy contents to another folder and run THAT one. Please do the above only as needed. and only after you tell me what happened when you tried using the different cable in different USB ports. Bob

Wow, this is a long thread. I have not read it all, so forgive me for butting in. I just wanted to point out another method to install. Use the Device Manager, click on 'Sound, video and game controllers' and right click on your current audio driver. Select properties. In properties, select Driver and in Driver select 'Update Driver...' When the Update panel appears, select 'Browse my computer...' and select the folder where your new driver is located. If you already tried this, I apologize and I'll butt out. It may also help if you disable the motherboard audio in your BIOS setup, but that isn't essential.

Is this an unsigned driver? You can override that with a Policy change:

I do not have any more options to try - It appears to me that their Win 7 x64 drivers suck. Nothing I can conceive of has worked, and I just do not know what else to do. The last thing I can suggest is that you try to email support and run down the list of what we tried with them. I did not see any sort of phone number to contact them directly, just the email option. Do not forget at at some point you will want to UNDO the change we made in the Local Group policy Editor - so that Windows is set back to its default processing for USB driver installations. When you get into that policy in the editor, just change it to "Not Configured" and restart. Bob Bone

I was trying to tell you to UNDO that change we made that told Windows NOT to install drivers automatically. Once we are all through with this you want to make Windows go back to its DEFAULT processing, where it WILL install drivers automatically. I DID find a phone number for support here in the US for Roland. I can call them in about 45 minutes and see what they say about all of this. I will do so,and post results of that phone call. Can you possibly be on hand at your computer in 45 minutes to 1 hour from right now? They may well want to try a few things and I need you to be there so that we can do this. If you cannot be there, then please tell me a time today that you will be available, and I will call them then. Thanks, Bob Bone

Afrodrum Arachnaut, do you think I will be better of with Saffire Pro14 like yours ? I don't know. I like it. I use on old driver (Version 2.2). Version 3 is current, but I don't feel the need to change because 2.4 was a step back. Audio drivers are usually one of the poorest parts of Windows installations because the market is so small - not as many test cases.

I will pass along the complete situation. That was using the WDM drivers, which is NOT what you want to be doing. Thanks - I am hoping that Stinga can review the thread and find some kind of way to get you up and running. Meantime, I am dialing Roland support now, and will post back after finishing. I will post during the call if I need you to tell me anything or do anything per the support folks. Bob

I have a UA25 and UA101 both are USB, I use the 101 now as it has more inputs. One quick check do you have the UA25 button on the back selected to advanced? I'm sure it will help with the driver installation, I can't remember off the top of my head but you will have to have it set to advanced for it to work with sonar. Your original problem was cured by changing the drivers from WDM to ASIO or vice versa. The Roland driver definately works though. Have you a restore point you can go back to post driver installation so you can start agin?
