I am on Sonar X1d.  Can I trust that if I just click through the install process that everything will work OK?

I have some concerns about my virtual instruments working.

Konrad, didn't you have trouble last time with EZD2 not working? Was that you? (You changed your avatar?)

I installed through CCC on my Win8 pc (not my music PC) this morning and everything is working as expected. Went very smooth. I didn't install anything else other than X4 because I already had X3e Dim Pro, Rapture, and all other instruments installed already. I fired up a project that I had with Dim Pro, Rapture, Louge Liz, Session D3, and all worked as expected.

kudos to Cakewalk and Cleverbridge support for resolving my issue in under 48 hrs. I do have to say however, that giving me a US phone number to call from Australia, instead of an email, might have been Cakewalk simplifying things a little too much.

Well I sent a PM to Andrew 11 hours ago explaining the problems and I've not had an answer yet.

Sorry, someone may have already answered this... but looking at the options, I think going to Professional would be best for me. But, am I allowed to upgrade to that version from Producer X3? Its seems (and correct me if I'm wrong) the only additional feature on Premuim is Vocal Sync?

Thanks

Be aware that you'll lose the ProChannel flyout Quad EQ and analyser if you go with Professional (which is the equivalent of X3 Studio).

Well 3 AD Packs at 90 euros each and the upgrade to AD2... is worth the $149 tag... but as far as features are concerned im not too impressed.

I really think they should retire some of the olddr vsts part of the bundle and invest in more new libraries. That's whats lets it down...

And every time you reinstall your computer, you have to install ALL versions to not forget some "old" plug-in which is not available in the latest. There are already several such plug-ins like V-Vocal, I do not think that is good idea.

They should have thought the vst's through before this release...  have a spring clean and start afresh..

(Solved) I can't activate Platinum! 2015/01/27 23:27:49 (permalink)
I can't activate Platinum!    I go to the Command Center.  Click Activate and all I get is infor on how to do it offline. That's ZERO help! I can't register Platinum!  I get the message that it is already registered!
Can someone offer help???  At best, the activation process (or registration  ...  or whatever it is supposed to be called)  is really really really poor!

Fear not, check your CW store account to confirm that SONAR as been activated and registered (3C makes this an "invisible" and seamless process).  Also, if SONAR has not been registered you will be prompted with a toast message indicating that SONAR is running in demo mode.

Just to further what LRR said, Command Center automatically registers/activates Sonar during the install phase.  If you installed it using Command Center, you are already registered, activated and ready to go.

If you're offline, the Activation has to be done manually.  The Activate button, as you  found out, tells you how to do it.
If you're ONline, no need to do anything at all. It's already been done for you by CCC.  Activation, serial numbers, registration, all done.  It is really really really easy.  You don't have to do anything.

I kind of thought that was the case but  for some reason unbeknownst to me, my product, installed using the Command Center, remains in the Demo state making it useless and a waste of money! It may have something to do with that point in time when the Single Sign On foisted itself on unsuspecting users like me.  I was made persona non grata  ... not able to post etc ... until the Cakewalks guys reset my password and  as I recall, my user name ).

As far as Cakewalk's new marketing gimmick is concerned... I am also not at all fond of what I think is a membership  payment.  Maybe I am mis-reading Cakewalk's advertising; but, it smacks of the fact that I own nothing  ... not even a license!  Instead I have a right to use the product for a year as a dues-paying member!

As a result of all this I am trying to get a refund.  Now I'm told that I must go to an outfit called Cleverbridge. As an aside, when I go the their link, I get a Cakewalk site. Just another case of what I think is a a sloppy, poor quality, online presence.  I am curious as to whether or not I am getting old and consequently impatient with the silliness that accompanies these kinds of commercial gimmicks!  Does anyone else out there harbor  the same mindset.

I think after the install via C3 I saw a few folks saying the computer required a reboot (with an internet connection active) and then Platinum works. Have you tried rebooting after the install?

You're right, it is a membership payment.  But yes, you are mis-reading the advertising. If you pay up front (just like we always have) or pay 12 consecutive monthly instalments, you get to own and keep everything you paid for.
The membership entitles you to a whole bunch of upgrades and extra content, equivalent to a complete 'old style' upgrade.

Hope all is well Mike.  It's been a while sine I've seen a post from you!

Yes!  I've rebooted several times.  I still get a message saying "Can't Save"  "Demo Mode" then at the bottom right  of the so called "toast" (whatever that is supposed to mean)  it says "ACTIVATE HERE".  When clicked, it takes me to something that gives me instructions for "Offline Activation" as if my computer isn't connected to the internet ... but it is!

No worries, we all make mistakes.  It's only the trolls that then won't admit it.

I would send a few PMs to the Bakers though about the activation.  It should have worked automatically if your machine is net connected.  It could be something as simple as a dropped connection during activation which has left their server thinking it worked but your instal not activated.

I suspect you have a mis-match in you Command Center credentials and your SSO credentials.  You might try logging out of Command Center, logging back in and launching Sonar from the command center.  Not sure it will work, but its probably worth 5 minutes to try it.

Is there a boxed version of Platinum available for upgrading ?   ...or, can I upgrade online to one computer then transfer over to my audio computer ?

I only ask because I don't use anti-virus protection on my audio computer, since it's never connected to the internet.  (many years working for Compaq/HP taught me how useless a virus-infected computer can be !)

it's been hinted that boxed versions will be available, but your best option is to download.  You can copy the download files to your audio computer and perform an off-line activation.

Download is better than boxes because from now on all updates will be fed in regular, short intervals as each updated feature is ready.  We're looking a roughly a monthly schedule from what I understand.

Yes, you can download the files from your Cake account, transfer them to your off-line DAW and use the off-line activation procedure found in the FAQ to activate Sonar.

I installed Sonar manually, without Command Center, and the software still activated properly through there instantly.

I suspect you have a mis-match in you Command Center credentials and your SSO credentials.  You might try logging out of Command Center, logging back in and launching Sonar from the command center.  Not sure it will work, but its probably worth 5 minutes to try it.

more, even: while cc is not running, clear any cakewalk cookies from your browser, then launch cc again and see if that helps

good luck!

So far so good. I removed all cookies! Logged out and re-logged  into  the CCC . Now the question remains how do execute (launch??) Sonar fro the center?
