I think they are minimizing a bad rollout. It is the first time Cakewalk has distributed their software with Command Center. While I'm sure it has been tested, there are so many configurations out there that it makes sense to trickle a few out at a time before opening the floodgates.

Yeah Dan, I agree with this. And it makes sense.

I was just honest and felt bad I wasn't given the chance to try it out early!! : )

Not the point I was making. You give your loyal customers the FIRST rollout. We have stuck by you for years and you disrespect us like this. I'm not impressed at all. We would have given vital feedback and worked with Cakewalk to iron out any issues.

There are some long time users that are part of this, myself included.  And there are what appear to be newer folks too.  A variety of user types which is really best for this type of thing.   As per the original statement it was a random selection - that's the only fair way IMO since "loyal" can be an awfully subjective thing...

I understand your being jealous; I am, too. But by making it random, they took what they felt to be the most fair approach.

I hope you can resolve your feelings over this and not let them taint your future experiences with the software.

Maybe an open Sonar Preview type thing would be a better idea? Similar to what Microsoft are doing with Windows in recent times?  I am not worried about secrets and surprise features on an on-going basis. More interested in stability.

Who determines who's loyal. You're pretty quick to turn on Cakewalk because you didn't get picked in a random lottery. How is that loyalty. You use you and we but you can only speak for yourself not others. As for those that have been selected they are giving Cakewalk vital information through their feedback. Cakewalk is right on top of any issues. Can't see why you can't be happy that Cakewalk is about to release the best version yet.

Cakewalk promoted this on their website where loyal users follow them. If you were interested in taking part in the draw all you had to do was fill in your email to be in it. When the draw was done, over the period of a week emails went out to those selected and they were offered to buy the pre release of Sonar, Artist, Producer or Platinum.

Simple really. Bill Jackson from Cakewalk explained it was a good opportunity to test out all their new systems which included ordering, payment both full and monthly, downloads, the Cakewalk Command Centre, installation and registration.

That's a lot of changes to manage and the 200 chosen was enough of a sampling to test all those systems. As well as report back in the forum what our view of all this has been. Unfortunately there's been so much nonsense about not understanding this or that, that a lot of the feedback has been drowned out by the constant chatter.

I can't believe that some people who can operate complex software like a DAW have so much difficulty understanding simple concepts that have been presented by Cakewalk.

May I suggest we keep the evaluation of the intelligence of others out of our discussions ?

Well them I'm the luckiest beta tester ever because they're are no major bugs found in this release. At the time of release this version is at least as stable as X3e which was acclaimed as the most stable version of Sonar ever, till now that is.

Don't feel like a beta tester at all. My getting Sonar Platinum had nothing to do with loyalty. It was literally the luck of the draw. And I paid for the privilege.

Good for you and the others selected. I put my name in the hat and was hoping... however the feedback from those who were selected has been very helpful and appreciated. From what I've read this new version and ordering process is pretty much cake.

Mike, paying for privilege is an oxymoron.  It's just an advertising scheme Americans have had drilled in our heads for 50 years.

The guys that are mad that they're people who got the next version of Sonar first are just silly.

I am very ready for it today, but tomorrow Spectrasonics is gonna kill me, so the only lesson I've learned is that I should never, never ever not buy new software for 14 months.

Let the good times roll... somewhere.

I created my SSO account last week and bought Platinum Sonar about 30 minutes ago. Downloaded the command center and installed it. Logged onto the Command Center and there's no products listed ( I have bought many many things from Cakewalk). They show up on my account online with the exception of Cakewalk Platinum. It's completely missing. Is this normal and will just show up later? I would appreciate any help you can give me.

I can't see this question asked anywhere else, so can any tell me whether I need to install Melodyne, Rapture, Dimension Pro and Addictive Drums if I already have Melodyne Editor, Rapture Pro, Dimension Pro and Addictive Drums already installed. I know when installing X3 I just left these out and X3 just picked up that these were already installed. I see that there are different installers for these programs and I guess I just want to know if I need to use these or will Platinum pick up on the programs I already have installed?

Add the Full upgrade into Cart and your crossgrade price should be automatically calculated. It worked for me.

Ok, problems downloading/activating etc.

What I've done:
Purchased the Upgrade to Platinum from JRR
Obtained the redeem codes from JRR
Followed their link License: http://www.cakewalk.com/redeem/
Entered the redemption code (checked twice, the codes are correctly entered)
It then asks me for my X3 Producer Serial Number (checked twice, correctly entered)

It won't go any further, keeps asking for Serial Number

I go into my account to check the Serial Number (I was previously copying from Help > About (which says I'm on build (X3e build 352))

X3 is NOT listed on my list of products.

The Command Center states "You don't have any products"

So, dear community, where do I go from here?

Steve, I've read that entire thread and the main thrust of it appears to be directed towards users who have changed email addresses through different versions.

I've been using the same email address since Sonar 6PE - my first Cakewalk product, so I cannot see how this applies to me.

It may not, I have used one email address since doing business with Cakewalk and still have products missing from my account. Fortunately the remaining missing items are not important. I believe you are down to contacting CW either through the Feedback form or support directly to get X3 in your account before the upgrade will be allowed.
