Yes, select Sonar Platinum (highlight it) and on the right, you should see launch.

Re: Please read before you purchase SONAR 2015/01/28 19:25:29 (permalink)
The problem  has been resolved.  The source of the problem occupies  the same category as the following quote attributed to Robert McCloskey  ... “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”  It all has to do with the term"Welcome to the Cakewalk Command Center"

As did many, I received that welcome. My "understanding of what I thought it said" was that I had entered the site called Cakewalk Command Center.  It was accompanied on the left by a list of software  that one gets packaged with Platinum.  Sonar Platinum was highlighted with a green button!  To the right of that green button and the list that followed ...  right below the paragraph heading "Get Started with Cakewalk Command Center"  ... were the options to Download or Watch Video.  The way I "read" it was that I could download Sonar Platinum! What was "meant"  was that I had the option to Download the Cakewalk Command Center package or watch a video describing it.  Since I had already downloaded Sonar Platinum and watched its promotional video I simply gave no thought to downloading or watching another promotional video.  In other words "Why bother?  I'm already in the Command Center site".  Finally after getting feedback from you  folks, I figured there must be something more to the CC than what I had been looking at. I decided to read closely, the "Getting started" message.  I finally realized what was meant by the bakers and found the correct Command Center. Of course, everything worked swimmingly from there on out! The whole issue, however, could have been avoided by simply making the "Download" option read "Download Command Center Here"  or "Download CCC" or  making really simple ... "Download CC"

I know that the instructions were there all along but I, and I am sure many others,  tend to only quickly glance at stuff that appears to be irrelevant. Bottom line in this long winded epistle is a plea for ensuring that nebulous instructions don't make it past the quality control folks.  I assume that Cakewalk has such a group!

Trying to 'Upgrade' (for $149 upfront)....  My cart shows MSRP, even tho I'm logged in.  Still shows MSRP after I enter credit card information.  Hesitate to click the 'Buy Now' button with that price showing in my cart.  According to the original post on this thread, I'm supposed to see the Upgrade price.  What gives?

Pre-ordered dvd box set Sonar Platinum from Sweetwater this morning For $149 usd. I have since received a call from a Sweetwater rep stating that the box set of DVDs will ship next week. I'm assuming that the serial number will ship with the set.. and all I'll need to do is install and register it and it will then show up in the sso or command center?

Hmmn.. Wonder why Sweetwater makes the distinction between "Download" and "Boxed" versions.. and during check out, one has several options for delivery.. free standard fedex, 2 day fedex, Overnight +/-$35 shipping, UPS..
Guess they haven't a clue of what's in the box. Kinda dumb to wait a week for the same download version plus a potential shipping expense. Guess it'll include owner's manual/shortcut key combos.. oh well. Hope I don't miss out on "free" updates while I wait.. :-P

UPDATE.. Called Sweetwater rep.. verified "boxed" version is most likely the same as the "download" version except for some paperwork/flyers and such.. with a week delay in receiving the download info/stuff.. so I converted my order to "download" version. Now I'm Platinum! Trying to figure out the AD2 producer bundle and whether or not I should install it over my existing AD2 full version to collect an additional 3 ADpaks.. (I currently own all but 4 of the ADpaks).. will I create issues with my current install?

My understanding is that no, there will be no conflict, it will simply give you 3 more items from each category that will add to your existing collection. It's exactly the same as buying another Producer Pack, which you could do if you wanted to. But now you don't have to. Yay!

All you need to do is register the new code with XLN and the packs are added to your account.
When you open the XLN installer it will allow you to choose your new ones.

No need to reinstall AD2, just the numbers.

Hoping to upgrade to Sonar Platinum from Sonar X2 Producer, but my newfangled account doesn't show any of the 20 years worth of Cakewalk products that I've purchased, and there doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them using serial numbers / email addresses.  I've emailed Customer Support a couple of times now... still no response.  Frustrated long-time customer here.

I know it's asking a lot, but others have had the same issue, myself included, and it was resolved easily... but the company is in Boston, and under record snow storms, with patience they will get it resolved I'm sure.

And, going from X2 to Platinum, I think you'll be happy with the upgrade.

Good luck man!

A little "your existing products will not show up in command center" would have gone a long way. Sheesh I wondered where what the hell had gone wrong and I sure wasn't about to order anything new until it would show my old purchases.
I still don't feel like this is fully baked. I must be able to tell command center where I want the installs to go. I mean who doesn't have a sub 512gb ssd as their main drive anymore. The other post got it right, you need to copy NI's service center functionality.

If the new version is purchased will I be paying every year to be able to use Sonar? I have purchased X1 X2 and X3 Producer but I have owned the program for about the same price of the subscription. How many of you are going for it?

No .... once you pay for it in full you own the license and all the updates that belong to it.
It's just as before... with the addition of a no-credit-check and no fees option to pay it out in 12 payments.

If you do not upgrade next year, and you have fully paid for this verision, you still keep and use this version as always.

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk]
Hi-

SONAR will be going on sale later this month and wanted to just share some tips to make sure your upgrade experience is awesome.

1) If you haven't signed up for an Single Sign On Account (SSO), please do so before you buy. You can go to:

https://www.cakewalk.com/my-account

You will be asked to create an account if you haven't done that yet. Please use the same email that was used to purchase your product at the Cakewalk Store or that was used to register your product. Once you have created an account, you should see all your purchases listed under the "Products" tab.

2) The first time you visit the Cakewalk Store (shop.cakewalk.com), you will see the price listed as MSRP. That means it's the full price. Don't be scared. Click "Buy Now" and you will be asked to login. Once you do this, you will automatically see your upgrade price reflected in the cart. This is one of the cool new features of the store. No more searching for the right upgrade path, we give it you automatically. And once you are logged in, you'll always see the lowest price for all products (like an upgrade to Z3TA+ 2 for SONAR Platinum customers). You can see if you are logged in at the top right of your browser window on the Store (right below the search button and language selector).

3) Once you complete the purchase of SONAR, you will see a link to download Command Center (https://www.cakewalk.com/Command-Center). Once you download Command Center, you will be asked to login. After you login, you'll magically see all your products in your account. You can start installing your products. Download times are quick and no need to enter serial numbers. This is also another cool feature that will make the process painless for customers.

I'll leave this thread open for any questions or concerns.

Thanks!

Hello Andrew/Cakewalk Staff,

As I previously posted in the Introducing the new SONAR: New lineup, new features, plus membership thread I haven't been able to purchase Platinum at the upgrade price. After seeing the above post today I tried to follow the instructions and they didn't work I now have an order at the full price awaiting payment. I'm not happy about this and want it sorted out. However, being in the U.K. I haven't called before now as I don't want to get a huge bill for the call. Will I get a huge bill if I call to sort this out? In addition I can't help directly via e-mail as I can't access my X3 serial no. via My Account.

Could you please help me?

Thank you

Liam

Your existing products will not show up in C3. Using C3 starts with SONAR Artist/Professional/Platinum.

As Scook said. We built Cakewalk Command Center for products moving forward. We've been referring to them as "Connected Products" (more so just because I haven't come up with a better name myself yet ;) )

I purchased and installed Sonar Platinum from Cakewalk Command Center yesterday and I am little puzzled about the behavior of Cakewalk Command Center with regard to Rapture, Dimension Pro and Melodyne.

Here's my situation:
  • Before purchasing Sonar Platinum, I already owned Rapture, Dimension Pro and Melodyne.
  • As I already owned these products, I chose not to install them again using Cakewalk Command Center
  • Loading an existing project, shows that Sonar Platinum has detected these already installed products and they play as expected (at least at a quick listen all seems fine).
Here's the reason for my confusion:
  • Although Sonar Platinum has found and is able to use the previously installed products (Rapture, Dim Pro, Melodyne), Cakewalk Command Center still shows them as uninstalled (red bullet to the left of them in CCC).
This looks like a bug in Cakewalk Command Center.  If Sonar Platinum can find them, why can't Cakewalk Command Center find them and then manage them properly?

Is this something that will be fixed in a future version of Sonar?

Nick

Re: Please read before you purchase SONAR 2015/02/07 11:21:47 (permalink)
Command Center does not interrogate the PC for products already installed. It relies on data stored in the Command Center folders about what it has installed.

SONAR knows about installed products because it relies on the VST scanner to build an inventory of installed products based on the VST scan path provided.

The DimPro and Rapture packages have not changed in years. I would expect additions would show up as extra packages much like the extra content of the past. Similar to the Content Club if you had X2.

Melodyne relies on Celemony for updates. The program handles updates differently than Cakewalk products. The update tool is built into the Melodyne software itself

That said, this is the initial release of Command Center.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info'.  It confirms what I suspected.

Here's hoping that Command Center will be improved in the future, as the failings I pointed out appear to be quite fixable, especially with respect to Rapture and Dim-Pro.  (If Sonar can detect it.... or if registry entries were examined, or...)

As far as Melodyne, it could be treated in a fashion that would detect what version is already installed and reflect that in its display (colored bullet) and could suggest upgrading using Melodyne's method if it noted the installed version was out dated.

I like the addition of Command Center!  Keep the improvements coming!

Nick

I started with the monthly subscription for Sonar Platinum and tonight purchased the full upgrade. I wish to cancel the monthly subscription once I receive my download authorization from AudioDeluxe.

1) How to cancel the monthly subscription?
2) Do I need to uninstall Platinum and then download / re-install?

Thank You for any tips on how to do this

Dave
