Still no email here for us free updaters. Anyone get it yet? (Not expecting a chorus of replies since anyone who did get it won't be hanging around here any more!)

nope...

Emails to those who qualify for the free update will go out tomorrow. Sorry for the wait, but it won't be long

Oh. Well, that would have been a good thing to put in the FAQ. I've been hitting refresh for an hour an a half now for no reason.

Well, not no reason. It gave me an excuse to litter the forums with a few extra posts.

To add some clarification:

Logistcally, we needed to wait until tonight to gather all the people eligible for free upgrades and then prepare the emails to go out in a seperate batch. This will happen tomorrow as Seth has stated.

It's in the FAQ ...

Q: I qualified for a free upgrade to SONAR X1. When can I get my download?

A: Customers who qualified for the free upgrade by purchasing SONAR 8.5 on or after November 1st will receive an email on December 8th with information on how to redeem their download. Please be patient as we roll this out to all customers.

You're still welcome to hang out, though.

And, to be fair, the FAQ did say "December 8" and "Please be patient as we roll this out to all customers."

I still assumed that "December 8" implied "same time as everyone else."

Okay, at last I'm making good on my threat and going to sleep. Enjoy the rest of the party, y'all.

No kiddin man, would have been nice to put that in the FAQ-where we all could have seen it instead of waiting here for an hour and a half...So far, the launch 'party' ain't so great. I'm going to bed.

Peace.

c. I'm worried about my buds who bought 8.5 and have to wait to get their DL/SN. It kinda doesn't feel right.

BTW, the store DID open a little earlier than midnight EST (or 9pm PST, i.e. my local time).  I was able to purchase and start the download before the big hand pointed upwards.  Downloads of the essential parts took about an hour or so but they are very large files so this seemed reasonable.

It looks like the download originates from cloud based servers, which is probably might be why Cakewalk was confident about scaling easily to meet demand...

Upgrades are available and have been since 9pm PST (12am EST). As you can see, the forum is a very busy place right about now.

We've got some pretty dedicated folks in our outfit, I'll say that. Fortunately for me, I'm on the West Coast so its not quite as late as it could be as if I were with the rest of the crew back in Mass.
