I've just been informed by Amazon UK that shipping date is expected to be the 14th of MAY
Hey Colin... Excellent. I was wondering about that. Sorry it takes longer to arrive in the UK, but I'm happy to hear it'll be there soon.

Thanks!

I'll be starting at the beginning. For various reasons I didn't get a chance to dig onto X1 and didn't buy the X1 Power book. I just know the basics of X2. So I only know X2 fron putzing around and reading the forum.
Hey Dave... That's a good idea. Yeah, I always recommend reading the book from cover-to-cover if you have the time because you'll get the most out of it that way. By the way, thanks for changing the title of this topic.

Hey Rob... Thanks very much! Wow, SONAR 6... that was a long time ago. You've got lots of catching up to do. I'm sure that Summertime weather will help. Warm here in CT too, but it's supposed to go back down to the 50's tomorrow.

By the way, you're website looks great and you've got some nice samples up there too. Were they done in SONAR X2?

Scott

Hey, Scott.  Yeah, SONAR 6 Power was a long time ago, but it helped me so much and I still used it often all the way through 8.5 when I needed a reminder of basic stuff that hadn't really changed a lot (terminology, concepts of routing and such). The jump to X2 has been a wonderful experience for me. The new interface has changed everything. I now feel I'm controlling it instead of the other way around.  Your book should complete the experience by em"power"ing me to take that control to the next level. As I've said here before, Cake manuals/help files are fine if one already knows what to look for, whereas your books have opened my eyes to things I didn't already know and explained them in a logical, not technical, way. Jeez... I sound like an ad, don't I?

Thanks for visiting my site and the nice comment.  All the pieces were done over the years with Cake up to SONAR 8.5.  99.9% of the samples used are from EastWest libraries and Cake's built in synths.  Unfortunately, I haven't updated my site in a LONG time so some of my best work has not been added.  Actually, I'm hoping you cover Cakewalk Publisher in X2 Power since I feel I'm being left behind in understanding how to get my music "out there". I plan on starting another thread about website development...

Sorry for going on so long, but I truly am looking forward to X2 Power!

Best,
Rob

Hi Scott;

The X2 Power book, which UPS delivered at noon yesterday, has been on target 100% so far with the topics I wanted to see first.  It is a bit more streamlined than the X1 book and leads the reader, especially new users, straight into the subjects.  It is a very good thing that the last two chapters are on the CAL language, which I use and need to look up, and Audio for Video which comprise almost half of my workflow.  I have used CAL since the Pro Audio days and find it useful to help with custom settings.

My hats off to you for another Right On! book for Sonar!

Hey Rob... you can post as many comments as you'd like, even if they sound like an ad. That's fine with me.  Seriously though, I may repost your comments in various places (like on my site and newsletter, etc.) to help promote the book. Is that okay?

The book doesn't cover Cakewalk Publisher. I don't really recommend it. It's actually easier if you sign up with a site like SoundCloud (or others). You can upload your music there and most of those types of sites provide a free player that you can add to your site.

Thanks!

Hi Scott

Hey Sepheritoh... yes, there will definitely be an eBook version. I believe the Nook version over at Barnes & Noble is already available and the Amazon Kindle version is currently in the works. I'm hoping that the publisher will have the Kindle version ready around the end of this month. I'll be sure to announce the eBook when it's ready.

Were you wondering about Nook or Kindle?

Also, to Everyone... keep in mind that both Nook and Kindle ebooks can be read on various devices (even Mac and PC). You don't need to actually own a Nook or Kindle reader.

Thanks!

Yeah, I wish Cakewalk would develop CAL further. That one topic alone could probably fill a whole book. And as far as  I know, there isn't another DAW out there that provides that type of functionality (although I could be wrong). But just think how powerful it could be to automate everything in SONAR and create your own editing tools via scripting. You can do that now with CAL up to a point, but it could be so much more.

X2 Power is a must have for every Sonar user.

Scott, you have out done yourself!

I am very pleased that I got this book. You all know I do know Sonar fairly well yet this book gives me confidence that without it I would be hard pressed to have. Any question I have is answered with Scott's own wonderful style. I don't know how he put this massive book together but it truly shines.

Thank you Mr.Garrigus!

P.S. The is just what us X2 users needed.

Hey Sepheritoh... yeah, that's the nice thing about both the Kindle and Nook formats... they have free readers for just about every device so the eBook format doesn't really matter. You can choose whichever one you like best.

Hey John... thanks very much! I appreciate the wonderful comments. I hope you don't mind if I quote you sometime to help promote the book.

Or better yet... (but only if you have time)... you could post a review over on Amazon and in the Cakewalk Store after you've had a chance to read more of the book.

Thanks!
Scott

To Everyone...

Thanks so much for the kind words and support!

After you've had a chance to read the book... (and only if you have the time)... could you consider posting a review over on Amazon and in the Cakewalk Store?

I have links to both places in the SONAR X2 Power! section on my site: http://www.garrigus.com/powerbooks.asp

Thanks!

 I sound like an ad, don't I?

Hey Rob... you can post as many comments as you'd like, even if they sound like an ad.

Thanks!

Scott, feel free to quote me any time, anywhere.  Thanks for the heads up about Publisher. I actually signed up for SoundCloud, but I want to have my own site... my only issue is figuring out how to make my samples play without opening a separate window (quicktime, windows media player, etc)  and then having to close it again to get back to my site. Too clunky.   Anyway, as I said, I think I'll start another thread... don't want to hijack this  lovefest

Best,
Rob

I got my book yesterday. I had a small amount of time before falling to sleep to read it.
Scott`s work in summarizing X2 is wonderful! All those little tricks I was missing is in there.
Can`t wait for more time this weekend to keep reading it.
I admit this is my 1st power book from Scott. For what little I paid, its worth ever
penny.
A must have for X2 users.

My copy would have arrived today but for some reason, Fedex now delivers to the local post office and they, (typically), take several more days to finally make the delivery. Very interesting....BTW, this will be my sixth SP book! Paul

Re:SONAR X2 Power Available Now! 2013/04/12 23:25:37 (permalink)
Hi, Scott!

My Sonar X2 Power! is due to arrive at the end of April, replacing my X1 Power! book.

I find that one of my biggest challenges is understanding inputs and outputs and minimizing the time it takes me to move from having an idea I want to record, to actually recording it.

I dread the deadly energy-draining non-responding meters and having to play Nancy flippin' Drew to figure out how to make the instrument I'm pounding on or mic I'm bleating into behave and allow itself to be properly recorded. An advanced degree from MIT shouldn't be necessary to the recording process, I persist in naively believing.

For this reason, I hope your book shows up soon!

Regards,
LJT
