rcrees Scott, feel free to quote me any time, anywhere. Thanks for the heads up about Publisher. I actually signed up for SoundCloud, but I want to have my own site... my only issue is figuring out how to make my samples play without opening a separate window (quicktime, windows media player, etc) and then having to close it again to get back to my site. Too clunky. Anyway, as I said, I think I'll start another thread... don't want to hijack this lovefest Thanks, Rob! I appreciate it. Hey, everybody loves a good lovefest. You can play files from other services (like SoundCloud) on your site without opening another window. Most of those sites provide you with a widget that you can embed on your site. Your visitors stay on your site and they can play your music even though your music is being streamed from SoundCloud (or another site). Scott -- Scott R. donbelisle I got my book yesterday. I had a small amount of time before falling to sleep to read it. Scott`s work in summarizing X2 is wonderful! All those little tricks I was missing is in there. Can`t wait for more time this weekend to keep reading it. I admit this is my 1st power book from Scott. For what little I paid, its worth ever penny. A must have for X2 users. Hey Don... thanks very much! Can I quote you too? It's your first SONAR Power! book? Well, if you have the time, I recommend reading it cover-to-cover to get the most out it. I hope you enjoy the rest of it. Thanks! Scott -- Scott R. Paul G My copy would have arrived today but for some reason, Fedex now delivers to the local post office and they, (typically), take several more days to finally make the delivery. Very interesting....BTW, this will be my sixth SP book! Paul Hey Paul... yeah, that happens here too sometimes. I think it has something to do with Fedex Ground or something, but I don't know for sure. But so far the post office is still delivering on Saturday's so maybe you'll get it today! It's your sixth SONAR Power! book? Cool! And thanks very much! Scott -- Scott R. skinnybones lampshade My Sonar X2 Power! is due to arrive at the end of April, replacing my X1 Power! book. I find that one of my biggest challenges is understanding inputs and outputs and minimizing the time it takes me to move from having an idea I want to record, to actually recording it. Thanks very much, Laura! I appreciate it. That's good news. Are you located overseas, which is why it's taking a little longer to receive the book? One thing to look at in SONAR to get up and running quickly is project templates. You can create your own project template and have it set up with all the settings and tracks you'd like, complete with inputs/outputs already configured. Then when you want to start a new project, you just load the project template and you're ready to go. This is assuming, of course, that your mics are plugged in to the same inputs all the time. garrigus FCCfirstclass The X2 Power book, which UPS delivered at noon yesterday, has been on target 100% so far with the topics I wanted to see first. It is a bit more streamlined than the X1 book and leads the reader, especially new users, straight into the subjects. It is a very good thing that the last two chapters are on the CAL language, which I use and need to look up, and Audio for Video which comprise almost half of my workflow. I have used CAL since the Pro Audio days and find it useful to help with custom settings. My hats off to you for another Right On! book for Sonar! Best, Clint Hey Clint... thanks a lot for the great comments! I may repost those to help promote the book. Is that okay? Scott. Yes, that is OK I hope you sell a million copies!

Having said all that, I'm still well-deep into X1 Power. In fact, the other day I discovered (via X1 Power etc), that by right-clicking on a synth in the synth rack, you can allocate buttons/funtions etc. This stuff'll last me years. Well done, Scotty.

John, if it's as good as Sonar Power 6 or 8 then I'll be well happy. It's the sort of book that can be and should be read from cover to cover because there are little hints & tips scattered throughout the pages.

This is going to be a short user review of Scott's X2 Power book. This can be used in any way Scott wishes. Now to the review. The thing that is most noticeable is the size. This book is large. But there is no wasted space. What this size allows is bigger graphics and more information on each page. Its well put together from a user perspective. Each chapter is thoughtfully laid out with sub headings that correspond to the over all chapter heading but conveniently included. This book can be read from cover to cover with an eye to moving from one subject to another in a logical order or browsed. It also has a great index. To me an good index is extremely important. Almost every page has a tip in it in a box for easy identification. Most pages have multiple tips on them. The large size comes into play here as well. I wont comment on Scott's style of writing because most here are very familiar with it. I will say its one that expounds on a subject without being boring. In other words its immanently readable. Also he offers a view that is different form the manual. This can help with understanding a subject. Now for the important things. Scott makes sure that all the plugins are covered which is no easy task. He also writes on every aspect of X2a without missing anything I can think of. The book is a total of 449 pages long which may seem short considering the manual is 1800 + pages but he does not add redundant stuff that the manual does. For example in the manual every menu item is documented and listed. these things are covered in Scott's book in their appropriate chapter and not listed separately elsewhere. Also as stated the book uses space better than the manual. I believe that it would be considerably longer if Scott had formated it in the same way as the manual. I view it as very efficiently formated without making it hard to read. My summery. This book does what it says it does. It provides full and complete documentation for Sonar X2a Producer that is very convenient and easy to read. It will make a great reference as well as a study guide in conjunction with the Sonar manual. I think it is a must have for all X2 users. Its new large size is a good way to keep the number of pages down without leaving out information. An excellent work that I hope all forum members will purchase.

I agree with John, this book is extremely readable! We've come to expect the best from Scott, and he doesn't disappoint... A MUST for any user (like me) who sometimes feels overwhelmed by the sheer size of X2. Just skim the TOC and you'll see it all put into perspective, then dive in. I'll probably skim once and read cover to cover twice. Thanks, Scott Best, Rob
