A new version will be on the way soon. Taking a bit longer than expected due to some annoyingly persistent problems.

Very nice work benstat. I've just been having a play with SONAR helper and it fits nicely in the TV windows title bar in Win 7 ;-) Can I make a suggestion - could you add a "spacer" element to the menu? So we can group buttons?

So we can group buttons? Actually the buttons are already grouped, and you can use the Preferences window to show/hide/move/group buttons as you see fit. From your post, it's obvious to me that the button groups are not far enough apart to be easily distinguishable at the moment. In fact, I had thought about this myself before, and I wanted to add something to the toolbar preferences to let the user define how many pixels apart button groups should be. I'll try and squeeze it into the next version which I hope to release some time this weekend (though don't hold me to it!). Thanks, Ben

You're right - they are kind of grouped - I was thinking more like a "line" to put between groups, like the "separator" in Firefox ;-) I won't hold you to it - it would just be handy if you get around to it ;-)

Does X1 Helper have a tool that maps the audio input output. Cubase has a nice feature for that but CW doesn't. It can be one of the more frustrating issues when you're recording and the data mapping is one track/input at-a-time. ProTools 9 has a similar feature.

Mod Bod How do you uninstall SonarX1 Helper? I can't find it in the Control Panel. Remove Helper from the SONAR Utilities menu (if it's there), then just delete the files. I tried to make it easy to install / uninstall (ie. copy the files onto your PC and run it, then delete the files when you're finished with it - no messing about with the Control Panel). In the next version there is an uninstall option that cleans up anything Helper related for you, (including anything from older versions too), leaving your PC totally free of anything at all to do with Helper. No temporary files, empty folders, registry settings - nothing.

In the Sonar helper buttons click on the Q for preferences and under General tab uncheck the Box for "Add Sonar Helper to Utility menu" and it will remove it.

Thanks guys. You beat me to it. Either of those methods will do it (use the registry one if you've already deleted Helper). The Helper preferences screen is the 2nd from the right by default, right next to the 'X' close button. Edit: I think I may just make a very small 'Cleanup' program that anyone can download, run, then delete, if they want to get rid of Helper and be sure it hasn't left anything behind. Programs that leave lots of stuff behind after an uninstall really annoy me, and I certainly don't want Helper to be one of those!

Mod Bod bitman Now why on earth would you want to do that Dave? I wanted to have a look at it but I don't use it. I've accidentally clicked it when going for Sound Forge in my Tools Menu. Nothing against it but I prefer a less busy screen. It just occurred to me... You may not be aware that Helper can show as many (or as few) buttons as you want. You can even set it up to show just 1 button if, for example, you only want the 'Full Screen Mode' functionality and nothing else. I usually run it with about 8 buttons, which is much smaller and less intrusive than the default (which is to show all buttons). You can also 'auto'hide' buttons, so that they are only shown when you move the mouse cursor over the toolbar. For example, you could set it up so that the 'Save' button is the only button you can see, but as soon as you move the mouse cursor over the toolbar, it suddenly shows the 'Save As..', 'Show/Hide MultiDock' and 'PRV' buttons too. Move the mouse away from the toolbar and the extra buttons disappear again, and you can see more of SONAR. It's all done via the 'Toolbar' tab of the Preferences window. I'm guessing that Helper just isn't for you though Mod Bod, but I mention it just in case. I'm toying with the idea of making Helper only show a handful of buttons by default, and leaving it up to the user to go into Preferences to show any additional buttons they want. This is more in line with the new, less cluttered X1 interface. Anyone have any opinions on this?

Ben, I would like to express my appreciation for all the work you have put in on Helper. I get along pretty well with X1a but you have made it so easy to add whatever bit that we miss from 8.5. I know that whipping up a utility from scratch without benefit of source code can't be easy, especially since everyone knows that we sonar users aren't very demanding;-) So if you decide to put up something like a paypal donation link, I would be happy show my thanks in a tangible way. ej

sanelso2 Hey Ben, I know you are probably very hard at work on SONAR X1 Helper. Just stumbled on the website you posted: http://www.sonarhelper.com/Pages/Default.aspx ....I guess this means it won't be long now! :) I'm hoping to post a new version some time this weekend, family commitments permitting. I've done a lot of work on it since the last version. Mostly bug fixes and general stability improvements, but some new stuff too like separate snap settings for the PRV.

MUSE Does this open automatically with Sonar once set up? This is what I'd like to see also if it's possible, Ben? That said, thank you for an awesome utility...it fits perfectly snug right under my tool bar and I love it! If there was a way to have it auto-open and save itself where I have it set up, that would rock. Is that possible? Also, I have mine set to keep my colors in my menu for plugs etc in the browser window. Though it's set to keep my settings, I have to click on preferences to make my colors change eventhough the check box is ticked already. Maybe a bug...maybe me, I'm not sure. Anyway...this rules, thank you so much for it. :)

It saves its position correctly now too. I'm not aware of the browser colour problem you mentioned. I might have quick look at that before it goes live, but if not, I'll try and fix it in the next update. Thanks, Ben
