Benstat,

Thanks for considering 'save as'. Didn't think you'd spotted that.

But instead of X1 tools, what about... Sta Tools

Did the uninstall and reinstall.  All worked well.  It is possible I totally missed seeing it when it first opened up initially with the project and screenset I opened it with.  So that may be why it took so long to appear(it was there all along). I saw the splash screen and then waited to see something change but it may have been there all along (hiding in the track header).  When I did the reinstall I had a different project open with a more standard view and it was noticeable right off the bat.

So at this point I would probably suggest ignoring my initial observation that it took some time to load.

I don't remember off hand who it was that was using the event inspector extensively but 1 feature that he would likely be eternally grateful for would be the ability to float the event inspector off the control bar to the work surface.  I have used it that way in 8.5 but not to the same degree that some other large orchestral template users do.

Sorry lorneyb2, but straight away I know this is one for the Bakers. Only so much you can do from the outside. Keep the ideas coming though - you never know what's possible until you try...

[Edit: Just had a thought - I could provide alternative screenset shortcut buttons (ie. screenset buttons 1 to 6). By doing that, you could remove the screenset module from the Control Bar, and you might have enough space for the event inspector as a result?]

[Edit 2: Speaking of which, I could move the mute, solo arm/unarm all tracks etc buttons to the toolbar, then you could get rid of the Control Bar 'Mix Module' as well, freeing up even more Control Bar space? Might experiment with that.]

Going to bed now. Really glad that a lot of people are finding it useful.
I hope you'll understand if I don't respond to all posts here. If I spend all my time on the forum, I won't have any time to fix or improve SX1H! See you tomorrow, and in the meantime, keep posting suggestions, feedback and bugs - I'll definately read and take note of it all in due course. Focusing on SX1H version 1 now...

BTW...

For your moning's entertainment...

Replacing buttons that are in the Control Bar are a little helpful, but hoenstly I've got as many visible as I need and manage to fit them on screen (19" monitor) 1280x1024 on my temporary monitor...

What I would like to see are buttons for things that are currently only available with key-clusters or menus such as the Marker window (where you can edit markers)... Of course with the exception of the snap2nager... I mean grid.... I'd love to see TWO of those! (one for tv/one for prv and such small event editors)...

Hey Ben...Just loaded her up and was clicking through and checking operations.  When I clicked on D to hide the Dock the screen did flicker...but the Multidock didn't go anywhere.  Everything else seemed to work fine.  I just read about adding it to the utilites menu in the preferences and will do that also.  Keep rockin, ol pal.  Keep rockin.

PS:  One question...when I go back and power up X1 will your control bar be where I left it or do I need to instantiate some way every time I power up X1?

I have CW's FX3 Soundstage. It is wrapped by a DX to VST wrapper. I tried it out and no problems with it. I do have one Jbridge plugin I just can't recall what it is for now. As soon as I do I will report on it.

Yourolpal- I think you first have to close or float everything in the multidock before it will disappear.

Keni - I would think unless you saved it as a template it would likely revert to whatever settings you had in the song at the time you saved it.  The full screen must be a global setting.

OK, which ones in particular? I had thought about adding a button to show/hide the Control Bar (same as pressing 'C') just because I'm a big mouse user and like to click things!

Oh, and can you give me a bit more info about what you want to achieve with the Marker stuff? Are you saying you'd like to be able to edit markers via the SX1H toolbar as an alternative to the Control Bar?

Thanks for the feedback ol' pal. It seems that hiding the Multidock is prone to the odd glitch ATM. One thing to try - if you hide (or show) it and nothing appears to change, try resizing the Sonar window straight afterwards. You may find that the Multidock suddenly disappears (or appears, depending on what you did) just by doing that. I'm looking into it...

I'm afraid you need to manually start SX1H every time you start Sonar. It should remember where it was last positioned though (although Keni reported a bug with this which I'm looking into). SX1H is a standalone program. It's position and preferences are NOT saved with any projects. Sonar and its projects are completely ignorant of SX1H. It simply sits on top of Sonar and pokes it with a stick every so often.

Hi Keni,
This is a limitation of SX1H. When you open a project that was previously saved in full screen mode, and/or with the Multidock hidden, you will have to manually switch Sonar back into full screen mode, and hide the Multidock again. These two settings are known only to SX1H, and not to Sonar. When you save your project, Sonar doesn't save the state of either of these things with your project (or indeed anything else to do with SX1H).
Also, when Sonar opens a new project, it creates new windows for the Inspector, Multidock, Browser, etc. It doesn't re-use the old Multidock window (which was already hidden), but creates a brand new one which isn't hidden. As a result, you see the Multidock again even though you thought you'd hidden it before. I can work around this, but more testing is needed because there is a minor performance hit.
Thanks, Ben

Here's a weird bug. When I hit the "SAVE" icon it works fine, but then the next time I hit the spacebar to start the project playing again, it keeps saving until I move the cursor to a different point in the project.

Thanks emwhy. This is probably to do with the fact that the keyboard input focus will remain on the 'Save' toolbar button once you click it. Then you press space and that triggers the save action again because it's still focused. Sonar should get the input focus as soon as one of the toolbar buttons is clicked. Fix coming soon.

No... the multidock should disappear without floating things, but it may be hung up if the dock is open or if (as you mention) a view is open in the dock even with the dock closed... Issues to be looked at for sure...

Keni - I would think unless you saved it as a template it would likely revert to whatever settings you had in the song at the time you saved it.  The full screen must be a global setting.

Yes, I thought of that too... But I thought to report it as an observation...

Thanks...
