Hey Ben, downloaded the zip again this morning (from post 37 link)and am still getting error dialog when trying to open Helper from the Utilities menu. Is there another link? I thought I read above that this was fixed.

Hi Ben, Good work - anything that can free up screen estate is good in my book!! A quick test of BFD2 in jbridge seems to work fine (running 64 bit X1, on Win7 64 bit) - even with the multidock hidden, I could drop the BFD2 window onto the track view, and it puts it in the multidock. One error I found, which you might already know about - if you float the multidock (in my case on a seperate monitor) and then try to hide it, it comes up with the error "Sorry the following error occurred: "Unable to find Multidock window" Sorry X1 Helper will now close" Its not really a problem as such, as you can restart X1 Helper , but just in case you'd not spotted it! Cheers James

benstat Keni What I would like to see are buttons for things that are currently only available with key-clusters OK, which ones in particular? I had thought about adding a button to show/hide the Control Bar (same as pressing 'C') just because I'm a big mouse user and like to click things! Oh, and can you give me a bit more info about what you want to achieve with the Marker stuff? Are you saying you'd like to be able to edit markers via the SX1H toolbar as an alternative to the Control Bar? Good Morning benstat... Always hard to think when I'm put on the spot... ;-) But for the markers... Simply a button to open the markers window where I can edit my markers (such as renaming them) Other things that might be nice? Here's a pair that I made shortcuts for in the PRV... Widen and Naroow buttons for the CV A button for opening the metronome settings window (too bad there's no way to add a window/button for changing count-in) Here's one that might be confusing location-wise, but what about a button for snap's move to/by... I know this is against what I said earlier about things in the control bar, but this one is hidden... Then there's a few that I find often make things easier/faster... New/Open/Save-As... Frquently the decision of how to access something is based on where the hands/pointer are at the moment... For example... It was easier for me to click on the transport's slider to move a measure back/forward as my hand was on the mouse... Currently I must do this by lifting my hand off the mouse (it needs a right hand and left hand) to sue the shortcut to move in these manners.... so the constant movement back/forth from mouse to keys becomes the issue... I'll think on this a bit more... I must admit that I'm realizing that a lot of my issues with the Control bar are it's flagrant use of graphics instead of purpose... Very pretty and "uncluttered", but taking far too much space for what it offers... In oposition to what I've already said, I'd love to replace the whole things with more compact and comprehensive tools as we used to have... Right now there's too much hidden!!! Keni

benstat Keni I just ran into something unusual... I had a song open with the dock burried and full screen mode... I closed the song using Alt-F C then opened a different song... the new song opened in full screen mode, but multidock was again visible at the bottom of the screen... Keni Hi Keni, This is a limitation of SX1H. When you open a project that was previously saved in full screen mode, and/or with the Multidock hidden, you will have to manually switch Sonar back into full screen mode, and hide the Multidock again. These two settings are known only to SX1H, and not to Sonar. When you save your project, Sonar doesn't save the state of either of these things with your project (or indeed anything else to do with SX1H). Also, when Sonar opens a new project, it creates new windows for the Inspector, Multidock, Browser, etc. It doesn't re-use the old Multidock window (which was already hidden), but creates a brand new one which isn't hidden. As a result, you see the Multidock again even though you thought you'd hidden it before. I can work around this, but more testing is needed because there is a minor performance hit. Thanks, Ben I understand... But you mentioned the posibility of Helper keeping it's own settings and causing the launch of X1 when it (Helper) is launched... thereby giving it's setup info to Sonar immediately... I can see where this would be an issue for moving from one file to another once Sonar is open, but would it then be possible to have a button in Helper that would issue these parameters when a new project is opened thru it?

yorolpal Hey Ben, downloaded the zip again this morning (from post 37 link)and am still getting error dialog when trying to open Helper from the Utilities menu. Is there another link? I thought I read above that this was fixed. Hey ol' pal! You might have identified a new issue here. If you download the SX1H zip and extract it to a folder, then run SX1H and add it to the Utilities menu, what happens if you delete the SX1H files, then download it again and extract it to a different folder? The registry settings used for the Utilities menu will still point to the original folder, and therefore it won't work. As a workaround, try removing SX1H from the Utilities menu via the Preferences window. Then add it again and see if your Utilities link works now. I'll do a few experiments too, and add it to the list of fixes. Thanks for pointing it out.

I just downloaded it and extracted it to the SAME folder as the original so it would overwrite all the files. Do you want me to extract it to a new folder?

Well now, this is super interesting!--I'm coming in late, and have looked through the thread - there's probably the answer to my problem with this, but I'm not finding it: Following the instructions in post #36, unzipping, then opening X1, then running the Helper's .exe file, I get the error message "Unable to find the Sonar X1 window..." ? i think cakewalk should send you a v-700 or a job offer. YET ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE SONAR. THE USERS WORK TOGETHER TO HELP EACH OTHER AND ACTUALLY CARE!! I hope the mods entertain the thought of adding your baby to an "additional content" file.. you should think about making a "custom mod" shop for sonar :)
Phenom Quad core, 8gb ram, 3.5tb of Fine Music Storage Vault Under Armed Guard w/ UAV support (air-hog chopper), set of MA-15D, Delta 10-10 pci w/interface, m-box 3 pro, projectmix I/O, Metal Pop Filters, Two SKB cases Full of Suck Removal Buttons, Cedar Walls, Stripper Pole (helps with mastering & block priceing) more stuff i'm to lazy to add. ;) P.S. good Memory foam is freakin awesome.

king_weasel I am having the same problem as Randy B above except I am running X1a Essentials on XP SP3 with Sonar on my primary monitor... Thanks Randy and King Weasel. I know what the problem is. Basically it's to do with Studio and Essential having slightly different windows than Producer. I think I know how to fix it. Leave it with me. Update coming some time this weekend.

Ben I really appreciate the extra space I gain on my fairly small monitor, thank you. Probably a stupid question: The browser colours - the default background is black in X1a, with blue text. When I hover over a file, the default text turns dark blue and is unreadable on the black background! So I was hoping Helper's ability to change these colours would sort this little issue out, but it doesn't seem to change anything. Thanks Bill

Helper only changes the text/background colour of items that are NOT selected. If you select an item, it is highlighted and the colours aren't always consistent. Is that what you mean? I'll add it to the list to investigate at some point. Thanks, Ben

Ben I've just worked out that it is just the plug in browser that Helper changes the colours of - not the media browser? That's the one that needs changing, as the dark blue text becomes unreadable when you hover over the file name!

I've just made beta 2 available and changed the title of this thread accordingly. You can download it here: http://www.staton.co.uk/downloads/sonarx1helper_v0.9.1.0.zip I'll post a list of improvements soon. I didn't intend to release a new version so soon, but rbowser and king_weasel highlighted the fact that the original version doesn't work with Studio or Essential, so I did a quick fix (hopefully anyway, rbowser and king_weasel - please let me know if it works or not). [Edit: Don't expect too much - it's mainly bug fixes.]
