Can you drag a synth (i.e. Dimension Pro) from the Browser onto an existing synth track to replace the synth?

Good question!

Unfortunately not yet ...but it's on deck and fairly high-priority,

Feature #1 for the next update. Recording into the Matrix -- feature #2. :)

Looking at the comparison chart between Producer and Studio, it does not specifically say which Mastering Effects and Channel Strip Effects are Producer Exclusives. Is there a detailed comparison chart?

Resonant Order

The removable docking window is reason enough for me to upgrade. Extra special thanks for putting this in since it was at the top of my list.

A couple of questions:

Any chance for automation lanes with this version?

Can I change the color of the new gui?

Thanks!

No automation lanes in this version, but the enhancements to automation are pretty major in X1 and may supersede the need (although we plan to offer lanes in the future under the Skylight framework).

The colors of some aspects can be changed and some thoughtfully designed presets will ship with X1.

Hi Brandon...

Just wondering if we;ll be able to get RID of the lanes in the midi editor (PRV) (The channel-by-channel editing  used in the Controller pane is a REAL pain when editing midi-guitar tracks...) ;-)

Thanks...
Keni

Try the Cakewalk Japan site via Google Translate. It has a more detailed comparison than the US site for some reason.

... can't wait to hear more about the automation improvements.

Looks like one major thing is the "edit filters" that will let you work with one automation envelope at a time (instead of having them always overlapped at all times) ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PXkRMQTTsE#t=4m19s
That's great. However, I wonder if Sonar 8.5 will receive an update to correct the immensly annyoing bug with synth parameter automation envelopes. And it is: if I click on an envelope to select it, then try to grab a node on this selected envelope, the selection is lost *if* there is another envelope overlayed below. A major hassly this, for me, which is not even cured by maximising the track pane to the max. The only solution is to move the overlayed envelope out of the way, and only then grab the node on the other envelope. Why hasn't this been spotted and corected is a mystery 101.

Please...time of selected area...please.

Yes! Please, please! This is so crucial to my working method ( and frankly, it's available on all other hosts).
I work with lots of short clips which on some projects have to be created to length. So, each time I want to check the clip's length I need to right click and select an option there. However, since I have to do it on lots and lots of clips, it soon becomes a major drag having to right click on the clip to check its length.

Another issue, which the right click option does not solve is, when I need to check the time/length of a few selected clips - it is not possible currently! The only way is to bounce all selected clips to one file, and then check the length.

Does Sonar X1 solve this problem with a simple selection length display on the navigation bar?

Looks like the FX bin is still pinned to the right side of the Track Pane.

I wonder if the audio input friendly naming convention has been changed to allow mono channel naming instead of stereo pairs.

Yes that woudl be wonderful and save from leaving teh musical side of the brain and find myself going ok 1 is 1 2 is 1r and so forth then i use two interfaces to get 16 tracks so im going saffire pro 3r is  4 and 5l is teh octopre 12.
