I wish they'd give these things more specific and/or descriptive monikers. I've been having a heck of a time sorting out what I have and what I don't. When I bought the Suite completely fresh off the turnip truck I was assuming I got everything. Much to my dismay that was not the case and as a poor ole turnip farmer have been getting blinded by the big city lights. I go through the list of add on goodies trying to make sense of it all and most of it is kind of "meh" but stuff like the CL stands out to me and I think to myself... "Self, you totally would have bought this if you had known... but you didn't... sucks to be you". My ridiculous internal dialogues obviously shouldn't be a factor for the cake promo team... however if things were a bit clearer they might make more money. *bites down hard on a raw turnip*

PC76 on a Urei 1176 FET Compessor. PC4K Bus comp is based on the centre console compressor on an SSL 4000 desk. PC4K S-type Channel comp on the Channel comp of same desk. PC4K Exp/Gate on the expander gate from the SSL 4000. Concrete Limiter was a little thing of Cakewalk's own design, AFAIK. You can Google these and see a lot of stuff about them. You can also find manuals for the original hardware, which taught me a lot about using their virtual counterparts.

@jb101... Nice. I will investigate and again I was being a little silly (I actually had the house to myself today so I pulled out my acoustic and had a one man hootenanny which made me boisterous). Pretty much what I was getting at is perhaps Cake has forgotten some of us are new to the newfangled gizmos and whatnots and might make a bit of extra cash with some more descriptive explanations and promos for the "little big" things such as the PC modules. They are quite awesome at this as it is and perhaps more so than any other company out there but yanno... if they went all in with the resource and educational angle I'd bet they'd draw massive business. Truthfully a HUGE part of me deciding on Cakewalk after using an old version of Nuendo for years was the resource element and this forum. I think it is brilliant as far as marketing and SOOO useful for us new folk. However if they really dedicated themselves to the resource angle they could make a lot of cash. I think they should hire Craig and Scott to team up with Seth and Brandon to just completely rip apart every element of the programs, effects and modules and serve them up for free or low cost. THEN you'd see people swarming to Sonar. Musicians want to play music... not pull their hair out trying to figure things out. Anyway... I'm just boisterous and ranty at the moment I guess but that's my take. Cheers and thanks again for the info. :-)

Cheers and thanks again for the info. :-) I guess Cake can't name exactly what they are emulating, so they give clues like "4K" for 4000 and PC2a for "LA2a" to save being sued in this litigious age we're living in. I'm sure lots of people are stumped when they see guitar sims that talk about English 800, Plexi or Tweedbass. It's only easy if you know the answer, as someone once said of quizzes.. I think Cake do a pretty good job of educating, if you look at the videos on Cake TV etc. It is just such a huge learning curve, regardless of your background. I agree that Craig and Scott have provided a lot of fantasic help to understanding all this. I have learnt a VAST amount from them. I think Roey Izhaki's "Mixing Audio" is well worth the read, too. Happy music making.

Also here lots of laughters for this fantastic pre-sale offer. For the fastest customers maybe a boxed version could be a little gift. Anyway very glad for the addons and for the improvements of this new version. I still believe that sonar is the best...

I gave it a long thought, and I just can't do it. I've invested sixteen years in cakewalk products. Bought the books, learned the new features, made releases, etc. But, the company has changed. I've never seen a cakewalk launch that was as borked as the X1 debacle. The fact that a company would release a program that was so buggy really shook my confidence. Breaking the tempo based fast bounce with the X1d update, and not issuing a fix immediately, and now apparently not ever, was a really bad move. I also hate, and I do mean hate, the interface. It's clunky, too large, and ugly. Customization was one of the foundations cakewalk software was built on, and now without the ability to change colors and arrange the interface buttons, I've grown to hate the workflow. Why cakewalk would take away functionality for those of us who grew accustomed to that functionality still baffles me. I don't understand it. It feels like one of those long term relationships where you wake up one day and go "what the hell am I doing?" It took a while for me to break up with the program. I bought the pro channel plugs hoping that things would click, and the pc will be the only thing I miss. I still have high quality plugs that I can use in any host. For me, the pinnacle of Sonar design will always be 8.5.3, so I can't move on. I found another program that allows an obscene amount of customization of the interface, buttons/actions, and works reliably. Nothing is perfect, but it's time to break it off with Sonar. We've grown too far apart. Note: This isn't a condemnation for those who still use the program. To each, their own, and I hope you use whatever is best for you.

I'm definitely in. It's a great price, and the strings sound excellent in the demo . . . wait.
Uh. What did I just say?
Good god, old age is a terrible thing.
Anyway, the strings could help. So I'll install it and do a few parctice projects.
If the unimaginable should happen and the software is not perhaps QUITE bug-free (Ha, Ha. But THAT could never happen, could it?? Pish Tush.), Well I still got the strings and the good price, so I just go back to X1 and wait for a bug fix.
Or two.
Or, perhaps . . .
No. No. That would never happen.

Just got the pre-order last night.... The string pack kinda sold me on it, as I really love strings, and my violin isn't usable right now and I was thinking "Weeeeeell... I'm probably going to get it eventually anyway, and I do quite like some nice strings..."

The strings aren't THAT bad. They are perfectly useable if, like most other packs, you spend a little bit of time tweaking them to fit into the all important MIX. Sure, they wouldn't stand scrutiny in an exposed violin concerto, but that's kind of missing the point of them.

I'm in! Really don't care much about the strings as I have plenty of them in various Samplers/Synths. But for the one day earlier download...now THAT is a whole different thing! Can't wait for it. Really loved X1 and had it stable since its release. Hope things will be the same in X2 but as it is more of an "update" I think it will run like butter! nomnom
