And, as I expected ... the Cakewalk "store" is slow as hell.

But, but . . . they said:

A: No. We have revamped the download system to scale up if required to handle the volume. The amount of people downloading SONAR X1 will not affect your download time.

I think the "download servers" are hosted in a different place/server set than the store.
 
The Cakewalk store is one of the worst places on Earth lol. 
  
It's already a big mess.   To say it's slow would be a dramatic understatement.
 
 

The download is coming along at max speed here. The store wasn't that bad either, for the amount of volume there must be now. I was through in six minutes. Looks like Cake thought ahead and got scaled bandwidth.

If you think Cake's store is slow, compare with the NI sale a couple weeks back - their servers were completely down for 3 of 5 days of their sale and super slow the following two. I didn't even bother it was so bad, and NI lost my purchase for not doing the right thing and thinking ahead.

I had to chase after them to get my 8.5 serial so I guess I should have expected to have to wait until morning and chase after them again.

I am one of the people who bought the upgrade in the first week of November. I have waited five weeks to buy the boxed version. I have HughesNet because I live in the boons, subject to FAP after 375MB of download, so I can't download the massive files and need the boxed version. So I added the boxed version and the store would not let me check out. Sure, it gave it to me for $29.99, but I could not check out. I got a message that says “An item in your cart requires further validation” when I tried to check out. Andrew, why wait until the night of the release to tell us that was how this would work? And I have changed nothing in my account since 8.5 was shipped to me last month, so who knows.

  Anyway, I tried to add both to see if I could check out. Sure enough, it would let me check out then! Obviously, as Andrew put it, you need to buy both at once. I don't need to buy a second copy of SONAR X1 just so I can get the boxed.  Cakewalk, how about a little help for a customer since Pro Audio 6?

Nope, you're right. If you bought 8.5 after Nov 1, you get a free upgrade to X1. As long as you registered your product, you should be getting an email. That being said, I haven't received an email yet.

Nope, you're right. If you bought 8.5 after Nov 1, you get a free upgrade to X1. As long as you registered your product, you should be getting an email. That being said, I haven't received an email yet.

I may have missed the info elsewhere but - am I correct in assuming with 8.5PE installed I don't need to download the Beatscape, DimPro (except the new expansion) and additional content lumps?
