I only got the first mail too. And my price is 227 euros, which seems high as I already paid for the yearly twice.

All set with email and correct pricing.

hmmm. Can someone just copy and paste the e-mail so we could read it?

If that is allowed, I think it would be a good idea. Just got the first mail myself regarding June 1st.
All the best.

You now have the right email. I fixed your account.

Could anybody concisely explain what is meant by the Platinum "pay one time" offer?  Pay one time for what exactly?

Also any idea how much it would cost for a current yearly Platinum subscriber?  The offers page say to log in to get the upgrade price, but the log in page says I'm already logged in......

If you're logged in, just go to the URL that is mentioned in the quoted e-mail on page 3, and you will see how much discount you get for Lifetime compared to the normal $499 (or whatever it normally is).

The current "pay one time" is rather confusing and is basically the difference between paying monthly and paying once for 12 months. The 12 months is important because you have to have a membership for 12 months to be able to keep using the product after you stopped your membership. See: http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions#start . E.g. suppose you're new to Sonar and pay $49 for 2 months. If you then stop paying, you can't use your Sonar Platinum anymore. If you pay $49 for 12 months, you will be able to continue using the last month's version even if you stopped paying. The latter can be cheaper by choosing upfront to pay $499 instead of 12x$49 which they call 'pay one time'.

No e mail received about the upgrade - did get one however re the AAS offer.

Current store lifetime upgrade states 225.78 Euros, is that correct - exchange rates dollar/euro are normally the other way round, or are we talking VAT here ?

Cheers,
Jerry

I have not received an email from Cakewalk in a long time--although surprisingly I DID receive the AAS upgrade email.

I'd like to receive these emails if possible--can my account be fixed too please?

Opted in, but I have rather bad feeling about what CW is going to deliver. This year we have got so far:
* drop of phone support (since CW is reading this thread... do you know that it is not possible to schedule call back, right? )
* SONAR self de-authorizing
* bad written 2 master plug-ins
* redundant button to add tracks
* simplified way to submit material to one online mastering service
I know that many users are excited by this list, I am not

I think Tempo Detection was a very big deal; Smart Solo was also a good addition. In terms of add-ons, TH3 and Melodyne 4 are both worthy additions. It does seem the emphasis has been more on fixes and optimizations than new features, but I don't have a problem with that.

I hope the mastering plug-ins will be up to spec in the next release, they're excellent (although admittedly, I haven't experienced the graphics issues others have had, so I've been able to actually use them).

What I really want to see is ACT replaced by your controller manager!!!

Thanks for checking, Andrew. I got the email now. The price is still 188 euros ex VAT though, is that correct? I thought it would be less because I bought two yearlies already. My Sonar is valid until March 2017. Is it because I purchased the second through JRRShop? If that's the deal than that's it but I got the impression some folks got a lower price after buying two yearlies.

Re: Big announcements coming June 1st, 2016 2016/05/18 11:57:23 (permalink)
So I'm hoping, perhaps foolishly, that there will be some sort of staff view improvements soon.  I subscribed to the monthly pay model Jan 2015, and since then there have been a handful of staff view bug fixes.  Most of them I'd never encountered and I've been working in Sonar since version 2.  "Lackluster" is a good word to describe progress in this area, though I will give them credit that they gave it some attention, which is better than it has been in the past.

I don't expect improvements to staff view to be a part of these announcements.  At this point I see 3 possible options for the bakers:

1.  Actually devote real dev time to fixing long-standing annoyances and add actual useful features or polish to the staff view.  I think if this were going to happen, it already would have.

2. Integrate a 3rd party notation system.  As a software developer myself, this could actually be more difficult than just a full rewrite in-house.  I don't like this option because Sonar's staff view is unique in many ways and there are things I do like about it.  Third-party integration would likely throw out the baby with the bathwater and we'd end up with something completely different.

3. Open source the staff view portion of the code.  I know this may not even be technically possible, but if it were, I would love the opportunity for the community to fix and enhance the code, and create pull requests for Cakewalk to review and roll into the next release cycle.

Obviously this post is only tangentially related to the "big announcements" since I don't think staff view will be involved, but I've noticed a lack of posts regarding these issues lately and decided to remind Cake that we, the staff view weirdos, still exist and that I for one am still wanting real movement in this area.
