We are batching up another email with many of the folks here who didn't get the email. This should solve a lot of the problems. It was related to people buying a second upgrade instead of a renewal last year but still qualify for offer. Rather than fixing these piece mail, more effective to fix it for all. We should be sending out another batch of emails this afternoon. I'll let you know when that is done and if people are still having issues, we are happy to assist.

joakes No e mail received about the upgrade - did get one however re the AAS offer.
Current store lifetime upgrade states 225.78 Euros, is that correct - exchange rates dollar/euro are normally the other way round, or are we talking VAT here ?
Cheers, Jerry
All set with email.
Andrew, many many thanks. Purchase on the way ! Cheers, Jerry

M@ No no no........Cakewalk have made a deal with Microsoft who will release WindowsXI on June 1st. It will be a 256 bit operating system with Sonar embedded in it's core.
Really, I didn't know...thanks for the heads up...idiot...
I feel the last word in your comment was totally uncalled for .What did you honestly expect to gain from that ? Before a large portion of this thread became a Cakewalk please update my e mail roll call , the general vibe of this thread was pretty lighthearted and fun. Kenny

I did not receive an email. I got the June 1 announcement one though. Could it be because I own Professional and not Platinum? I do see that the lifetime upgrade is available to me from the links posted earlier... for $525. Does that sound right for a Professional user upgrade to Lifetime Platinum? Just a regular Platinum upgrade for me is $299. So shouldn't it be $400? Or at the most $500?

azslow3 Opted in, but I have rather bad feeling about what CW is going to deliver. This year we have got so far: * drop of phone support (since CW is reading this thread... do you know that it is not possible to schedule call back, right? ) * SONAR self de-authorizing * bad written 2 master plug-ins * redundant button to add tracks * simplified way to submit material to one online mastering service I know that many users are excited by this list, I am not
I think Tempo Detection was a very big deal; Smart Solo was also a good addition. In terms of add-ons, TH3 and Melodyne 4 are both worthy additions. It does seem the emphasis has been more on fixes and optimizations than new features, but I don't have a problem with that.
Melodyne 4 has appeared apart from CW, I mean whatever was done to integrate it was done during X3. Apart from tempo importing... But in general you are right, I have to add into the list: * tempo operations with Melodyne 4 * Smart Solo * some optimizations and fixes, at least for someone I hope the mastering plug-ins will be up to spec in the next release, they're excellent (although admittedly, I haven't experienced the graphics issues others have had, so I've been able to actually use them).
I also do not have graphics issues. It just eat my CPU without any reason. But 0.75 sec reaction delay sounds rather disturbing for me (note it is affecting all operations, not only with this plug-in). They have ARA and they can get the whole material in advance by other means if for some reason such huge window is required for processing. What I really want to see is ACT replaced by your controller manager!!!
Not in the next release

berlymahn I hit that Cakewalk Store Lifetime link. My price is $525. Others state their offer is $99. Seriously? Looked in my store account. 51 items listed since 2007, and a good majority of the items are purchase items. Have not upgraded to Splat from X3 (yet). At $525 as my price for this offer, now guessing I am CW persona non grata, as a result. The current offer clearly is for existing Platinum users. So you're not even supposed to see/know about that lifetime upgrade. I suspect they will offer this also as an upgrade to X3 and older at a discount, but I guess you will just have to wait. Same for upgrades from Artist/Professional. Right now the pricing seems to be: * subscribed, but no renewal yet: $199. * subscribed, and renewal in 2016 (so most likely a running subscription since Platinum was released): $99. I'm in the $199 camp as I only upgraded my X1 to Platinum end of 2015 and am still on my 1st year of Platinum.

As usual I'm confused. I just spent $200 on my Platinum renewal in Feb. and now I have to pay another $200?? It seems that Cakewalk needs to generate a lump of cash on short notice. No emails here, just a sense of "WTF NOW". How will the rules change next month? This takes me back to X1 and then X1 Producer and then X1 Producer plus. Just continuous change that feels like you guys just make it up as you go along. If you are going to change the rules just get on with it. Don't tease, don't release little bits of the big picture. The last year has been great but I'm getting tired of Cakewalk showing up with their hands out asking if I've any change to spare. Perhaps I'll get the memo one day and understand what everyone is so happy about. Right now, not so much.

So a question for a CW rep: is this 'core only' model also going to be brought to the regular monthly/yearly subscriptions such that no one will have a choice and everyone will have to pay for whatever extras ? Or will the current model keep on existing ? I think this is an important factor in deciding to go with the Lifetime 'core only' subscription or not. Of course it in part also depends on what extras you would get with a regular subscription and how much $ it would be worth. Am wondering whether people who immediately jumped to buying the Lifetime subscription even ever considered this. EDIT: also am wondering what then will happen with Artist and Professional, because the biggest difference between the 3 versions was in the bundled add-ons : http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions#start .

With Cakewalk you never have to pay. This is a new promotion (AFAIK) that ends on Aug 31 of this year. Wait until June 1 to see what the full announcement is but I suspect if you opt in for the lifetime updates new addons (think Drum Replacer and Vocal Sync) will not be included and you pay for those IF and WHEN you want to. Or you can just continue (AFAICT) with your membership as is. Or you stop your merry go round and just live with the version as of your membership expiry date.

We took the liberty of determining when the apocalypse is coming. In all seriousness, it's just a display thing so that we could make SONAR and the website play nice together until we roll out the next update.

So I just renewed my platinum two weeks ago. Please tell me there's a grace period here or a pro-rated special rate, Cakewalk! :-D
Also, while I have your attention: let's beef up the automation lanes and get better envelope tools like most other modern DAWs (including dynamically editable LFOs and splines instead of just drawing points with simple quick/slow/straight connecting lines), better per-clip automation envelope support to complement track automation, and an automation parameter chooser that doesn't make me click the "down" button 500 times to get to the bottom of a long list. :-)

Disregarding that I think 200 is too much for a Platinum renewal (I paid 130 or so through JRR Shop) I believe that the email states that if you already renewed, you get to pay 100 instead of 200. It didn't show up correctly for me either. I think Andrew had to fix something.

I finally received the 'upcoming announcement' email this morning, but I haven't received anything about lifetime upgrades. I purchased my SPLAT renewal in late Feb from a third party. FWIW, I'm really hoping that the June 1st announcement is Mac OS compatibility. The PC platform is seriously falling behind in supporting music production, especially the latest Thunderbolt hardware interfaces. The only reason that I haven't moved to the Mac platform already is SONAR.

TerraSin Got $199 as well following the other guys link. Wonder what the timeline is that decides the pricing? Not complaining (unless Sonar goes out next year) but more curious since another guy I know said his was $99. :)
Wondering that, as well. Mine was $525.00 by following the link, which is quite a bit higher, obviously. I migrated to Platinum from X3 Producer and have already renewed Platinum once. Also own a number of other Cake products.
Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but my offer is much less tempting than one at 199. :)
Excited to see the lifetime model, though.
I didn't renew membership this year (nothing against Sonar, just thought I'd wait until I decide whether to build a new PC DAW or not). The price I'm offered is £420. Which is over $600. Not very tempting I'm afraid.

IF lifetime membership meant core functionality (aux tracks, fixes, etc.) but NO add-ons (Vocal Sync, Drum Replacer, etc.) unless you bought them individually as needed, I'd probably be more inclined to stick with the current annual renewal model. Although I don't use all of those bundled features day-in and day-out, they're still nice to have. And depending on how much those would cost on their own ($99? $149? More?) things could get real expensive, real quick. But going this route (if indeed that's what the plan is) does makes sense, because there's been a lot of feedback regarding the new rolling updates and a very common criticism has been the "junk" that gets bundled with the rolling updates. Some folks just want the program itself and don't feel all the added content justifies the cost, so this would seem to be a good way to address that. I for one like the model exactly as is (I upgraded to SPlat in 2015 then did an annual renewal this year), but giving users more options for features/payments is a good thing. I just hope June's BIG announcement isn't only about new membership options. Hopefully there's some exciting news about the software itself, and not just how people pay for it...
