I gotta say. I'm a PC guy and don't really care for macs. Had one for a while and now it's gathering dust while I'm trying to sell it. BUT if Sonar was to become a part of the Apple ecosystem, I'd be really happy. It would mean: 1) more longevity for the platform (bigger user base means more people count on it to survive and thrive) 2) getting some cutting edge new features. Trying to break into the new market where you have things like Logic or S1 that have, say, simple and powerful flex time capabilities will mean we're getting the same stuff as well. 3) Maybe Sonar will gain some fresh code in the porting and will shed all the legacy stuff that's a bit antiquated. As for me PLEASE GIVE ME A REDESIGNED SCORE EDITOR! cheers!

Isn't there supposed to be something else coming? I might be reading too much into it, but the teaser page had three slots for announcements, so lifetime membership would be one, Mac would be two, and a third still to come?

I don't understand the fascination with a Mac. My brother in law has tried to talk me into purchasing one for ages. Why would I spend 5 times as much for the same performance, just to have an Apple on my case.

burkek I actually hope it's an announcement that Sonar is migrating to Mac. It's the only thing preventing me from moving to the 5K iMac. As a photographer and sometimes videographer, I've been drooling for that screen. It has always been my music apps that have kept me committed to the PC.
We have a 5k iMac here that's been upgraded. (Support for Mac clients running VE Pro) 32GB RAM, replaced the 2TB Fusion drive with a real SSD, replaced the CPU with a i7-6700k It's a nice machine (now)... but it's a *royal* pain to work on. Anything other than swapping RAM means peeling off the screen. Need to replace the boot drive? The screen has to come off. While certainly possible, you've got one shot to get the screen back on right (using double-side adhesive tape). Even if you're super tech-savvy, this will get your blood-pressure going. Once inside, working on the iMac is sort of a cross between a laptop and a mini-ITX machine. Tight space... (if you want to get to the CPU, you're essentially disassembling the entire machine) While currently (ironically) the fastest Mac you can purchase (faster than the current generation Mac Pros), you can't add anything internally. That means all additional drives have to be either Thunderbolt or USB3 (external). You've got a total of 4 USB3 ports and 2 Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt drives are outrageously expensive. ie: 1TB conventional HD is $200. I typically use 7-8 total drives on my main DAW. To duplicate this setup with a Mac, it's $2k to $3k just for drives. Apple makes a slick machine. But they're not without foibles and limitations... If anyone is curious, the iMac with 6700k is not faster than a PC running a 6700k. OSX is certainly leaner than Win10... but on current generation hardware, that makes little to no difference. iMac Skylake boot time is slower than PC Skylake (using identical SSD as boot drive). In any event, the 5k iMac is a nice machine. Just know the details before laying down the cash. If the Mac port is the sole BIG NEWS... All I can say is... Meh! Not too exciting to me.

If this is all that the announcement is about, I still say bravo. Many engineers in my country scoff at anything not on a Mac, and if this gives CW more market share, more legitimacy and more cashflow to keep developing an awesome product I'll take it. As it is I've been holding off on upgrading my PC as I am rather tired of the usual Windows drama that seems to come and go... not sure if OSX will be any better, but having choices is always good.. or most always :O) But 1st of June has not ended yet, maybe there's more...?
