Welp...the only info I could find in my initial search was a MUSIK MESSE thingy which did say...I'm pretty sure...that it WOULD be $99 to upgrade from EZD1. Could be wrong though. I also think that's a bit high. $49, you bet.

I like and still use EZD. If it wasn't for the long conversion time when I put it in a 96k project, I would probably still use it exclusively. But when switching between 96k projects, a d EZD has to reload each time is a major PITA.
So if EZD2 solves this problem, with all my present EXP's, I'll get it. If not I'll keep using SD3 and BFD Eco.

Yeah, I can understand why waiting for a sample rate conversion would be a pain. But I don't think that the vision for the EZdrummer product was targeted at people using 96k sample rates. Your kind of pushing it out of it's comfort zone. EZdrummer has always been about songwriters first and helping him/her get an idea working. Then you turn the midi performance into a big time production using Superior Drummer or even by changing the midi format within EZplayer Pro to a competing drum sampler format.

Cool. I paid full retail price for EZdrummer when it came out because it was the only product like it that was available at the time. Yeah, there was bigger drum packages but nothing did what EZdrummer did. I've never regretted paying full price even when street prices approached a third of what I paid.

I love EZ. In fact, this is the first third party product announcement that's really got me excited in a long, long time. I do have and use Superior, and it is indeed awesome, but it also has features I never use - I prefer to avoid mixer redundancy, so I don't care for the included effects and presets. OTOH, things like offline bounce individual channels directly from within SD can be very handy. For songwriting, I still use EZ. And it often ends up being the only thing I use. If the new EZ Drummer fills a bit of the existing gap between EZ and Superior, it may very well be all I need.

I doubt I'll upgrade just because I'm so content with EZ/SD2/Eco, but I don't think they're going to struggle to find buyers. In terms of the blend of ease of use, included midi, included sounds and expandability, EZ is tough product to beat.

I'm finally in a position were I don't need anything, but I will be very interested in this one. I'm determined to spend far less on software this year...so it will have to be great, and on sell somewhere. I've learned my lesson about paying full price for any of this stuff.

Unless it's something truly mind-blowing, I'll wait for the sales if the upgrade prices are correct. Can't remember the last time I used EZD. I only installed it on my recent OS upgrade in case of older projects that I might re-visit at some point.

Well said. I am very happy with EXDrummer1, SD2, AD, Eco, NI Abbey Road.... So EZDrummer2 might be nice, but I will wait for a good sale and get it down the road. I do hope it will load the EZX libraires. i have all of them and hope it is backward compatible.

Yes. Loading the old EZX libraries is a must. I believe I read that it will... in one of the adds. My long term plan does include adding Superior drums at some point, but if EZ2 does what I need, better than what I'm doing now, it will be worth consideration. Mod Bod says it's great, so I bet it will be.

I'm in the same camp as you Clint, I don't really need anything at this point. I have always really liked EZD for the ease of writing, but had migrated to others that sounded better. Superior was on my list to upgrade to at some point, mainly because I have always loved EZD functionality. I am highly curious because of Dave's comments as a Beta Tester.

I wonder if if there are new AI type features like Jamsticks? I use my EZX a lot in Superior but don't fire up EZ Drummer much these days, so its got to bring something significant to the party if i am going to upgrade. Built in effects don't sell for me as I have some pretty decent effects to run in Sonar's mixer.

No AI in a Jamstix like implementation but it has a bit of smarts in certain aspects. If you are using Superior for reasons of sound and tweakability you will likely want to stay there. However, you may (as I do) like the new EZD2 because it helps you get there easier. With that picture published, it's obvious that there is a blend of EZkeys features integrated in EZD2. Let your imagination take that out a few steps.

51 posts in less than 24 hours (52 now I guess). That says it all doesn't it? I'm pretty sure EZD2 will be an instant success. 8 year cycle tells a story (there have been numerous updates, unlike a certain other vsti already mentioned), it is well engineered and supported; its a great product. For me? I don't think so Reading between the lines in the press release, it sounds like they're after eating AD's lunch with all their new effects. Good luck to them; I hope bringing out EZD2 brings their sales back up. As for the rest of it, the new sound engine, etc. how much difference is that really going to make for me? I'm a hack with EZD 1 for crying out loud! So, no. Not for me, I don't think. Especially not when I'd have to upgrade Nashville, Latin and Twisted as well. That's likely to cost me another $150 for a total of $250 just for adding effects? Hell. I've got effects coming out the wazoo now!

I've read all of the info and I'm still not clear on a few things. 1. It says all EZXs will work and have been upgraded with effect chain presets and graphics. How will this work? Will these new EZXs appear in my account? 2. Will EZD still exist or will the upgrade and download replace it completely on my hard drive? That could answer my first question. 3. Are we sure the EZX conversion is free? If a conversion even takes place.

Q. With the introduction of EZdrummer 2, will we have to uninstall/remove EZdrummer and all the EZX libraries?
A. no.
Q. Or is this a completely new version with a completely different drum library that will coexist alongside EZdrummer (V1)?
A. it ships with its own sound library and will replace EZdrummer 1 in your projects (so you get the new upgraded version when you open them next). Pop/Rock will of course remain available.
Q. Is EZdrummer 2 going to be compatible with older EZdrummer sessions?
A. yes.
Q. Lastly, is EZdrummer 2 going to be compatible with the current line of EZX's, S2, the SDX's, Solo & EZplayer pro? Or are all of these getting updates to version 2 as well?
A. certain aspects require updates, in various respect depending on the product mentioned in your list. That will be done gradually but most will be available on release (of EZdrummer 2).
... feel free to post follow up questions, but be aware that we are planning to post a FAQ in the course of the day, or tomorrow latest, so you may be better off waiting for this to be posted and probe further points after reading it.
