I have a Soul Food laying around here. I was very impressed with it playing thru my Fender Concert. I never got a chance to actually play thru a Klon but I do remember salivating over one that was being demoed in a music store in Atlanta a while back. Everything I do now is in the box with A4 or TH2 nowadays but I do like to pull out a good amp from time to time and it is usually front ended with the Soul Food.

Nice phrasing on your post Larry. @michaelhanson I recently found Paul Rose and have been enjoying his YouTubes. I love his phrasing! Michael

And, of course, you may be aware that Bill Finnegan is building the Klon again...although I think he's not hand building anymore. In truth...while the Klon is a very nice overdrive...I thought that both of mine were overpriced at the $275 I paid for each of them...let alone the $2750.00 they can demand now.

Hey, charlyg! That's the ones I have. I own 2 of the Fender Rivera Concert combos with the 1X12 cabs. Back in the day I owned the Rivera Concert top with 2 4X12s. Thanks for the memories. LOL! The distortion channel was not too good but I was using stomps and racks back then anyway. Ah, the mid 8o's. When music was rockin' and hair was big!!!!!!!!!!

I tried a Klon in the late '90s, but don't have any remorse about not buying it. The Way Huge Saucy, Rockett Archer and Keeley Oxblood are way more interesting to me, but I'm happy with my Lovepedal Burst, Fat Sandwich and Philosopher's Tone for now. I would love to add some more, but am not in a big hurry and am not gigging, so "AmpliTube to the rescue!" LOL I've owned mostly Fender amps (about 40+) over the past 52+ years, with a PV LA400(which included a hernia! LOL), Music Man RD110 fifty(?), a Roland Cube 60 when they came out, plus a Carvin SX50, Silvertone 1482 and a killer 1946 Noble 5 watt "accordion pearl" covered screamer. All are long gone and a Princeton Reverb is my sole amp, till I buy a Vox, which'll be my first one of those, though I got to gig through a Royal Guardsman ca '66-'67..... might have been a Super Beatle....too far back and no pics. The only Concert I owned was a 1960, though I've had a ProSonic, Pro (the Pro Tube series)and a Custom Vibrolux. Other than several Blues Deluxes, and Hot Rod Deluxes, most of mine were real tweeds, blonde, brown, or blackface. Now I here about 'em from guys who can afford to collect them! LOL Oh well.... I played through a Fender Twin Reverb II from 1983 until 2011. It was the last Rivera designed Fender amp and is very underrated now.

Holy ****, Larry, Fender black tube twin on top of a dual Showman double 15" cabinet. That was my rig. Destroyed many ears with this combination, mine included. Thought I was the only one who discovered this combo. John

Me too! I got my first Twin Reverb in '68, then a second. I bought a pair of Bassmans the tall version in ??? '69 don't remember when they came out. I ran a pair of Twins with JBL D120s on top of a pair of tall Bassman cabs with 15" JBLs, too, till I realized how heavy it was! LOL A pal from Detroit had the same rig and when we were talking about "our foolish youth(s)", he called it the Ted Nugent set up. I never saw him, and began to wonder who in Chicago (my hometown) might have had one that I decided I had to do, too.......this was ca '68? maybe more like '70. Terry Reid comes to mind, but...... When I came to my senses (or rather got the memo from my back! LOL), I used the '60 Concert and a '59 Bassman. That still seems like my best rig ever...... wish I had those two! I'd better let go and come back to NOW! LOL Michael

Ted used to have a wall of 5 Twins on top of 5 Dual Showmans...
He was probably only running ONE Twin...but it sure looked impressive...
That's why I said it was my "Gonzo" rig...

I contacted IK about the Mesa deal as I have 100 gear credits, but it would seem they can't help with that, only a sell direct from the IK store. No problem, I was planning on waiting to see what Black Friday and the Christmas sales bring anyway.

Not to derail anything about Amplitube, but saw Ted live with the Amboy Dukes right after Steve Farmer quit, (late 60's?). Was a bummer and signaled a terminal downslide for the band... Andy, their keyboard player took up the vocals, but the magic was lost without Steve. Even Ted could not salvage them. Ted however was in incredible form. Stacks of twins on top of dual 15 showman cabinets. Was playing a thick Gibson Byrdland with a straight cord into the twin. No stomp, no effect. Incredible thing is that he had achieved at will, infinite sustain of any note. I used to rely on a hollow body Rick to sustain feedback if the note would resonate, but could never pick a note at random and have it sing like a violin. This guy was my hero. His subsequent albums never hinted at what he was capable of live. John

I had a Dean Explorer....one of the EARLY good ones...it was Wine colored see through finish, neck through body, and it was modified with Pyramid Pickups and a Brass Nut, brass eyelets through the body and a brass bridge....that thing would hold a note forever...

I'm just seeing this, and just checked my e-mail. IK actually has reached out to me and fixed my issue. For the record I never asked them to do this. I wrote and asked about the Mesa thing, and they said it would need to be taken care of in the IK store. I was okay with that, and replied that I had gear credits and understood the situation and would just wait for future sales. I'm stunned with the generosity and service they've shown here. Well done IK! I'm impressed!
