Susan G The problem I'm having (one of many) is that I can't just highlight a sentence or two, and have that be the only thing quoted as I did in the past. Actually, that part I think I have down! Highlight what you want to quote, then click "Reply to Message" directly, neither of the options. Okay, so I can either do what you suggest, and manually change the starting quotation tag to "quote=Susan G" (with square brackets in place of the quotes), or I can quote the whole message (which includes the attribution) and delete what I want to exclude (as I've done here... after waiting 10 minutes for the forum to come back up after going down in the middle of my post, of course. "ASPPlayground", huh. Seems more like "ASPTortureChamber" to me. Edit: Oddball font is due to pasting the message into Word temporarily to rescue it from the forum server dump! Are we having fun yet?

I fervently hope they can do that, since it's a huge PITN the way it is now. -Susan

Another thing that I've noticed is that I have a few threads from the old forums saved as favorites. (This also happens when I did a search for an old thread. I found another thread that had a link to it but got this same message.) When I select them from my favorites menu in IE8 it comes up with: The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

- Click the Back button to try another link.

OK, I can edit them, change ".asp" to ".aspx" with a global search-and-replace. But forum links in previous forum threads no longer work! That's a lot of information lost.

So either ".aspx" or ".ashx" works now? I don't get that, either, but mostly I don't get how we're supposed to get to links referenced in previous threads, since they're all broken now. That is definitely not good. I guess all we can do for now is edit them manually. Willy? Please?! -Susan

The forum seems to be back up, but I've gotten several email notifications with absolutely nothing in them in the way of any kind of message. The last one apparently being Susan G's message. So I don't even know if anyone will see this in an email notification. At least the horizontal scroll bar is gone. As far as I can see though, the change I talked about making a few posts ago with changing the asp to ashx in old url's still seems to work. But still - sheesh! I think we were better off when it was Usenet.

Mamabear I'm getting SO frustrated not being able to read the posts in my emails. Can someone please email me when that gets fixed. A lot of the fun is gone. :-( Hi Janet, Clicking on the 'User-Control Panel' button itself and then click 'Feature Preferences' there are various options in regards to subscriptions and notifications. Then there's additional options in the 'Post-Reply' section (as I write this post) there is a drop-down menu, hmmm get 'Daily Digest',, I wonder what tha' heck that is???? LOL!! I don't subcribe or receive notifications from forum/threads or private messages, I also have other features turned off! But you want those features on and setup correctly. When you get notifications by Email (although being blank-body) did it provide at least a Link to the thread? There are other options in the user-Control Panel, may be worth checking them all out. The following is not in regards to this forum software: Also consider some Email clients and/or additional security programs/settings there are options to display Email content as just plain old text OR display images and html in Emails, these options are for security purposes since unwanted scripts can be embedded in html and images that can be a potential risk to privacy and viruses! But of course I have sites such as Cakewalk allowed to display content such as images because I trust them :-)

Yes, I get a link to the thread I can click (and that takes awhile, but it works.) I haven't changed any of my preferences, and it's not only happening to me, so I think it's something that happened during the big switch-over (since for one or two days we could at least see a line or two of the body of the text.) I'm crossing my fingers that it will get fixed soon. Daily Digest? Like Reader's Digest for CW forums? That would be good! lol

Hi- Rodan Why does it say "trial" version? Shouldn't a full production forum be running on licensed software? Where do you see that? Here it says "Forum Commercial Version 3.5" at the bottom of the page. Re the e-mail situation: I wish they'd tell us if they're going to start including the message text again. I guess I'll just turn off that option for now, since I don't really have any use for it as is. That should be fixed along with no "In reply to" and no content in forwarded messages. Those 3 things are clear steps backwards, IMO. -Susan

This is on a Mac with Firefox 3.0.12 (latest version). Curiouser and curiouser. I think things are changing here without any real attention from anyone in charge - I seem to remember seeing the word 'trial' in the aspplayground line at the bottom of the screen at one time.

I have grown to dislike the orange... (I'm guessing it's the new SONAR update's theme color) it reminds me of McDonald's and makes me think I'm supposed to become uncomfortable and leave quickly. I prefer the grey and black theme of the forum that was so successful for the past 5 years. best regards, mike

jackn2mpu Problem: 1) No matter how wide one makes a page, there's still a scroll bar across the bottom of the web page. 2) Incomplete inclusion of text in emailed notices - i.e. when an email notification of a post is received the additional text entered by the responder goes missing. #1 - has been fixed for the forum and I'll work on getting it fixed on the main site as well thanks for pointing that out! #2 - Under investigation.
