Hi everyone,

The .zip file now has been updated to include alternate reverb settings that can be used in place of the Cakewalk FX Reverb, which will be of great use to 64-bit users.

Jonas,

I appreciate this so much. You told me you were going to do this and you came through! I have been using Sonar 32bit instead of the 64bit because I really liked your EMT plate setting in the fxreverb. For those who haven't tried it much - it is also a great vocal tracking verb that uses a very little cpu.

Thanks Again - I will be trying these out this evening!

Thanks Jonas this is exactly what I needed to get beyond simple recording. It's very very cool.

Since I have Studio and not Producer (yet), I don't have the LP64_Multiband or the Vintage_Channel_VC64, can anyone recommend replacements (settings?) for those?

Thanks

Now that the reverbs presets are available for Sonar 64 bits, it would be well to have an alternative for the Cakewalk FxFlange and FxChorus.

Maybe with Sonitus FxModulator (64 bits).

Merci!

I just randomly came upon this thread, but here's some bump lovin' for your troubles.

Thanks for the template. I can't wait to try it out. In fact, I've been wondering if folks on the Sonar forums do this type of thing, and *poof* here it is!

Jonas,

I don't see anything wrong you offering this wonderful template with the option to send you a donation via paypal. It is that good. My recording sound so much better using this setup. I would love to send you something for your hard work and hopefully add incentive for you to continue this great work.

Just a thought.

All the best,

Dave

Jonas; I was tweaking your most recent template tonight, and noticed something.
Should the Mix Left and Mix Right buses be panned center as they are, or should Mix Left be panned hard left, and Mix right be panned hard right?
These are output to the master which is center. Or doesn't it matter? Also when applying say tapebus should it be applied on the master bus, or one on the mix bus left, and one on the mix bus right? Thanks in advance, and thanks for your hard work..

To me it makes most sense to have them panned centre post split, simply put so as not to apply any gain or reduction in levels before the separated channels are recombined back into a stereo bus again (which also will be panned centre).

On the fx like the tape sim you suggested there's nothing stopping you having an extra inline fx bus before or after the split. If for some reason you wanted to apply different processing to each channel as well I don't see why you can't do that while the channels are split.

Just my take on it FWIW being a complete fan of this resource that Jonas has provided.

Thanks Jonbouy. So the way I am going to set it up then is: Mix Left Bus panned center, and output to Master Bus, Mix Right Bus panned center and output to Master Bus.
I am going to place tapebus on the mix Left bus, and tapebus on the Mix right bus.

Jonas when I load the .cwp it says I'm missing K:\mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2.

I understand this is (K:\mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2) the missing rex file which I dowloaded.

What program to open to use a Rex file (Propellerhead ReCycle) Or...

I'm not to familar with Rex Files?

By the way Great Template

Thx in advanced...

OK... I loaded rerbloop100_bpm_n.rx2 into Sonars RXP Player however I still get the missing K:\mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2 when I load the template.

I've inserted the RXP Player (With The Rex File) on tracks and saved the project and when I open the saved project I stll get the missing K:\mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2.

Its probaly no big deal, but the pop up window is a little anoying..

Anybody.. How do I get rid of this missing K:\mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2 POP Up Window.... When I load the template...

Thx in advanced

Megalodon, I erased the RXP player from the synth rack;and since I don't use any midi except for ez drummer, I erased the whole lot-brass, bass, ect. However I kept an extra template with all synths in case I want to use it down the road. It seems to work.

Megalodon,

I copied the reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2 file into a new folder called "Mastering" in the RXP contents directory (where the RXP Groove Browser looks for its files). On my Vista system this was the "c:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\RXP\Contents" folder (so the full path name of the REX file is c:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\RXP\Contents\Mastering\reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2". Then I opened the bundled mixing template project, opened the synth rack, opened the RXP instance by double-clicking it, clicked on the Groove file name section to open the Groove Browser, pressed the F5 key to refresh the browser contents, selected the reverbloop100_bpm_n.rx2 file from the Mastering folder, then saved the project as a project template. Now I can create a new project using the saved project template and no longer get the missing file popup message.

Many thanks for the template. I can really learn a lot from this;-)

To keep with sub bus conventions that you used in this template, may I recomend renaming the sub master bus (do not touch) to
sub master bus split (do not touch). Also instead of assigning an output to this sub master bus split and turning it down, assigin it to none and set volume to 0, can view meters for quick troubleshooting. This would bring it inline with what you did for the sub drum split off to 2 stage compression sends;-)

It's a hungry template. 35 - 50 % cpu useage.
Again many thanks.

I have downloaded the first version ( or was it the second ?? ) In 2006.

Most of the routing and the comp / Eq settings then went over my head.

3 years down the road. A lot more experience and a lot more practice at mixing,
I just opened the lastest vesion of the template and althought the routhing is different,
i use the same kind of technics and similar EQ/ Comp settings.

Pink Noise while listening to the whole song is a trick i will definitly have to try.
The short pink noise bursts are also a very good idea.

Thanks for sharring such knowledge

When I open up this template, I get the following message. Can anyone help?

The following tracks and buses are currently assigned to a silent hardware output. The items listed below will be silent in your project until their outputs are reassigned to an appropriate hardware output:

drum bus split (do not touch)

THanks,
Stuart.
