Welcome Meng! I've been using CW since version 3.0, 500 years ago! Or was it 600? I can't recall!

Very excited Sonar will live on and I'm ready for the next chapter.

Please excuse this shameless request, but I didn't renew my Sonar subscription in time to get the update that included ripple edit. Anyway I can snag that now? Please? 😀

Just logged on to the Bandlab site-- It's everything I would hate about a "music" site. Defiantly not aimed at us old farts.  Oh well. as long as they keep our server running that's all that really matters.

This is the best news I've heard in a week! Awesome! I subscribe to whatever stuff you do with the future of Sonar and am sure the next flagship product would be awesome as Soran Platinum, and if by any chance you have decided to make a Mac version as well, I'll live eternally!!

I wonder how much Noel would get for his Coffee Mug if he put it up for auction on EBAY

Ask BandLabs, that's why they bought the company.

This is the greatest news that SONARians could have hoped for!!  Meng seems well funded and forward thinking.  He's a musician, and already developing breakthrough stuff with Bandlab.  I'm guessing the care and feeding of SONAR as it is now is in exceptionally good and respectful hands.  Let me join the chorus of welcoming Meng and the rest of the Bandlab teammates to our large and growing club!!

Big "+1" - while I haven't stopped playing, I also haven't worked on a single project since November.  Mentally I just wasn't there.   But with this news I'm hoping to get back on the song train...

Thanks for the support. I think many don't realize how fragile an ecosystem music software is/has become for many if not most companies in our space.

I, for one., was extremely happy to see Meng "verify" that Sonar will be a desktop App........Sure integration "if" you want it. That's fine also.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't care that the Sonar name will be replaced. It's a new company with an old soul...It's time for a new name. I'm much more concerned about the vision going forward.

---- UPDATE 3/3/2018 ----

Just wanted to drop everybody a note for the start of the weekend. Thank you again for the words of encouragement and support, it means a lot to the team and gets everyone excited! A lot of progress has been made this week and I'm looking forward to being able to share details with all of you officially in the coming weeks :-)

In the past week, a lot of things have now been finalized and I'm excited to say that this will allow us to get the first iteration of our the new flagship product into circulation much sooner than expected. What I can confirm today (and apologies to those who are big fans of it) is that it won't be called SONAR.

Thank you, meng, for the update and your involvement here.

We'll just have to wait to find out what the name of the new BandLab advanced digital audio software suite will be (hopefully some of the VST instruments and effects will still be part of the suite) Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to more information about TDDFKAS, whenever that is available.

I did wonder how likely keeping SONAR as the name was. I suppose the name Cakewalk carries the same or similar baggage, but if we can keep one of the names somehow, that would be excellent. Or some homage to the old names. I started when it was Twelve Tones Systems "Cakewalk" - it's always been Cakewalk to me, one way or another.

I'll be sticking around, regardless what name it eventually earns, though. Just make it a good one.

Hi Meng

I would like to say that your explanations of the reasons behind descisions is important to me I feel like you want me to be apart of this and I have a lot of time dreams and emotions intertwined into Sonar, it also gives me hope that you care and I believe that will guide us not just forward but in the right direction.

I can’t wait to see what the next year brings

Hi Meng,
are there any plans of making a Mac version of the Sonar successor?
I've tried Bandlab and for collaborations it's amazing, can't believe it's free without any storage limitations. But my main platform is now a Mac hence my question.
As I understand in the new version of desktop 'Sonar' there will be tighter integration with online Bandlab.
