Wow! 5 pages in a matter of hours. That has to be some kind of record! Is everyone drunk tonight or something? Hahahaha! X1 has problems. Some people experience them, others don't. I happen to be one of the "dont's". The new posters are probably due to X1 hitting the you know what sites. Happens all the time here and on other boards as well. Sad, but a fact of life. Sometimes the leeches can't even be content with scamming the system, they have to rub salt in the wounds as well. When pirated copies of PT (M-Audio version) hit the servers last year, DUC was flooded with "how do I make this work" type posts from noobs. So was Gearslutz. It's very predictable. The serious DAW users seem to get along well and respect each other. Over on the Cubendo, Reaper and PreSonus forums the atmosphere is friendly and faults are debated. We all laugh, try and help and move on to more serious topics. Hell, each of those loyal fan groups knows that Reaper 4, Studio One 2.x and Cubase 6 are either just out, or soon to be released and they could possibly, and mostly likely *will* have bugs as well. Software is defective because it's designed by humans and we are not perfect. Anyway, off my soapbox and time for another Sam Adams :)

Well, I "wasted" my 5000th post on another thread. But this one has been entertaining I suppose. Sad note to end on, in post 131 - The implication that it's only pirates who are on the Forum complaining about X1 hits an all-time low in "arguments"---But it goes to show, people feel passionately about the X1 topic because we all know that X1 has made everyone declare a collective, "What the...?"--In reaction, some have rallied to defend the fort, while some other people, even previous "fanbois" (like me?) have dared to say, "Um---have you noticed--the Emperor's wearing no clothes---?" Hopefully everything in X1 will eventually be fixed up well enough that we can all get on with other, more important things than ranting on yet another X1 thread, be it pro or con. RB

You guys are a riot!!! Yes, the Presonus forums are quite boring compared to this forum lately. Give them time though as S1 2.x is soon to be released, or so the rumor mill says, and that place will light up like a marquee. The one to watch though is the Cubendo forums as C6 gets loose in the wild. Those guys are brutal and take no prisoners. The absolute toughest though is DUC. Those guys are fanatics when it comes to performance. I have to give Avid credit, they seem to have tested their PT9 quite well as it's not a zoo over there like I expected. The conspiracy theory part of me believes that they have had PT working on all hardware for years and because of marketing, never released it. It was probably just a matter of flipping a couple of bits to make it work with OEM hardware and ADC and then all they had to do was add some features, which is where they spent the real time.

I noticed this on the Sonar product page. System Requirements - Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit)/Vista Service Pack 2 (32- or 64-bit)/Windows 7 (32- or 64-bit)*
- Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.67 GHz/AMD Phenom Quad Core 9750 2.4 Ghz
- 2 GB RAM
- 1280x800 minimum screen resolution
- 4.5GB for minimal installation, 15GB for complete installation
- SONAR on DVD: DVD-ROM, DVD+/-R or DVD+/-RW Drive
- SONAR download: Broadband or better internet connection for download
- Cakewalk Publisher requires available web server space with FTP access
* Windows XP Media Center and Windows XP 64-bit are not officially supported. I know that a service pack can contain maintenance that will greatly improve one's chances of success. It was like that with XP2. Lots of people resisted that one until they learned that they needed to put in SP2 just to be able to use high capacity hard drives or high capacity camera cards. I generally don't wait too long to put in a new Service Pack these days. As long as I don't have any critical things going on, I'll do it right away. If you're on XP and still using SP1 or SP2, don't be stubborn, put the Service Pack 3 on already! SP3 has been out for over 2 years. Back up your system with a disk imaging program first if you're nervous. The minimum requirements for Sonar were not written just for giggles; there's a reason (probably several) for requiring SP3.

Wow, look what's grown overnight. My tuppence worth is there's so many variations of hardware and ways of using the program there's as a natural result going to be variations on opinions. I cite V-Vocal as a good example. Undoubtedly there are many, many users who are having real problems with it to the point that it seems to be, for them at least unusable. But then there are users of it, of which I am one, that have no problems with it at all (or should I say didn't until X1 which now seems to flatline the audio when re-opening a project with another already open - solved by opening a project into an empty X1). But that's just an example. Ask one person about V-Vocal stand clear and wait for the expletives, ask another and the answer will be "it works great". Must make working out what is wrong with it for some people a complete nightmare. To the OP you may want to borrow my BS filter which automatically filters out most of the BS and files it in the ignore column. Works for me and just as well. Trouble is for those experiencing bugs, (me included) there's so much mis-understanding/BS/speculation to filter through to get to what actually is a bug or omission of function. I think it's called life.........

"The minimum requirements for Sonar were not written just for giggles; there's a reason (probably several) for requiring SP3" Most of the people having issues have stated they are on Windows XP SP3 32-bit. Also something else to note too, I've seen both a fair balance of posts with both Windows 7, Vista and XP having related issues.

B Best thread of the day award, Best Picture - fish, Longest running thread while I slept award I don't use the forum to solve problems but it is entertaining at night. CW support phone call is the only way to try to make X1 work. Even they are pulling their hair out. Best response yet "Experiment" Example - latency. X1 only works with 1024 samples. Must be XP, old drivers, winter solstice. None of the above. Latest clean install of Win7-64, latest Lynx ASIO drivers with latency under 35 ms (tested) but X1 stick choking. I'm not a lurker, not a newbie, don't own another DAW other than the crap they give you with everything these days, don't have anything installed on my DAW other than Sonar, Lynx mixer, Melodyne and UAD-2 Quad. Testing X1 with Melo and AUD not started. CW support lines are marking time until the next bug fix. Must be the job from hell. When I ran a software company, that was publicly traded, we owned up to bad code, told the customers straight up not to use new releases in live mode and to run parallel for 90 days before a cut-over. Hot-fixes were sent out to customers with a field engineer and the SQA staff person on stand-by. Maybe CW doesn't charge enough for that kind of hand holding. They should think of systemic changes in their code release policy and procedures. ad hominem attacks throughout the forum since X1 are not appropriate. assume most people are being honest.

Bub Sorry Jonbouy, the honeymoon's over. ;) Click here. Thanks for the heads up Bub, I'd never have read the Daily Mail. Put it this way if the Daily Mail was American you'd all know it as a Republican fanzine, not that I'm implying that is a bad thing in itself. It's just not somewhere you'd go for any truth unbiased news.

Positively Charged Steve Mac ...coming from fanboys... I have decided that I really don't like that word. Yes it can be accurate when used correctly, but lately and on this forum, I see it being used more and more often as an insult with little or no basis for its use other than as a way to get somebody's goat. +1 I agree and I am sorry to see it happening. I just hope that things calm down soon and that the issues people have will be fixed so they can enjoy X1 like some of us do. Then we could go from bickering to start talking about the cool features and smart little techniques in X1 that we don't know of yet.
