Yellowstone: Similar fix for Console View is coming as for the darkside. Active track will get proper highlight color.

What's the difference between a duck? (It has one side both the same) New darkside = win. Especially with square faders and the Neverchannel...

I don't think we can say anything about majorities - I don't think this entire forum represents more than a small minority of Sonar users. But yes, inasmuch as we represent a small but active chunk of the user base, we can say that lots of us want more colour customization (back) than currently exists in Sonar X1, including/especially (for me at least) the console and Pro Channel...

Ben and/or Panu: I've started to play around some in photoshop with ideas for a skin I'm going to create.. I've got a small question: The images used for skinning Sonar.. Are they in png format so it's possible to use transparency? Cuz I've noticed that the knobs and faders have little drop shadows, and I'm curious how these are applied.. When I think about it... ..this can't be the case either, cuz then the drop shadow would change place as the knob is turned.. Or.. Is Sonar rendering the shadows in realtime and it's nothing you have to think about when you make the images? Cheers!

Are you sure about that? :) That about the majority I mean. Yes, there’s a lot of activity in this thread.. But if you count how many unique individuals writing in this thread, it’s not that many, really. :) Personally I wouldn’t mind a darker skin for Sonar X2 as default. The important thing for me though would be the ability to change this into what I want.

Is Sonar rendering the shadows in realtime and it's nothing you have to think about when you make the images? Cheers! Some images are PNG's and some BMP's. All the images I've seen so far are 32 bit, but Panu will know if there are any other color depths. Things like shadows are generally just part of the image (unless Panu knows differently?). Realtime rendering of shadows would be more costly than it's worth I suspect (in terms of development time and CPU usage). Be prepared for a lot of work skinning X1 because there are literally hundreds of images! Take the Tools Module buttons in the Control Bar for example. Each button has 5 states (normal, mouse over, pressed, selected & disabled). The good thing is that you'll be able to make modifications to Panu's existing skins to save time.

All Skylight (tm?) images are PNG's and they have transparency. Shadows are part of the image, nothing is rendered in realtime. Old GUI parts are BMP's. They are in 8 bit format. Some BMP's can be converted to 24 bit as I have done (for example the default wallpaper). Some BMP's don't work correctly if they are not 8 bit (Console View parts, for example disabled send module). You have to be careful when changing bit format of BMP files. As Ben said, there are hundreds of images and in button images there are five different button states. CW people have made a huge job designing and drawing the GUI!

I'd also like to hear if there are any problems with built-in text colors and if some vital elements should be 'lighthoused'. Lighthouse ProChannel? Lighthouse Control Bar?

Panup - a small request or question :) In Track view when I click on a track header the color changes so you know exactly what track you have chosen. But when you click on the buss the color stays the same. Is there any way to have the buss color change like the Track does ? Thank you Sir !

Hard rock? Soft rock? Progressive rock? ;-) Yellowstone is no way perfect in highlighting active track in the Console View. It's next on my fix list.
