Important Question! :-)
Hi guys, It's been a whirlwind 48 hours for us and engaging with you guys here has just validated how incredible this community is. "Thank you" could not be said enough. There are a lot more questions which have been asked that I will be able to give answers to in the week ahead so appreciate you all being patient. Understanding feature requests and ideas is really important to all of us as we define the product roadmap - so we'll be figuring out the right way to gather as much information as to what would be important to prioritise. Related to this... and the most important question we all need answered: Would anyone mind if we moved from APG to an alternative forum framework provider? Someone recommended XenForo in a thread, I'm also a fan of Invision Community - but this is something we could act on quite quickly in parallel while we're in the process of sorting everything else out I'm thinking it could be really valuable for us to do this quickly and with a fresh start, so I would like to migrate this forum into a locked "legacy" forum so no-one loses their posts and historical helpful info - but not needing to migrate threads would simplify things to no end. Happy to hear your thoughts! ---- p.s Sorry if you were hoping for something more serious, that will come soon :-)

Figure it as a fresh start. Just please keep a forum open. One thing I can say is that cakewalk forum was one active place.

meng Would anyone mind if we moved from APG to an alternative forum framework provider?
A forum update/refresh is long overdue, but I'd be careful about making immediate changes before the news of your ownership has disseminated. FWIW, people are used to checking stickies/pinned threads like this one. meng I'm also asking this because for the life of me I can't figure out how to change my avatar photo...
Go into User Control Panel (top-right corner on my screen), then find Avatar/Profile Photo options under Edit Profile. ;)

meng ... and the most important question we all need answered: Would anyone mind if we moved from APG to an alternative forum framework provider?
If I read you correctly, everything here will be preserved somehow, but no longer "live," and a new forum will be started someplace else. There have probably been some (a few) occasions where an issue has been solved months or even years after the original thread is started, so that would not happen again. But it's OK with me if a new forum is started. As CEO, you should know that we give each other tech support here, which will save the company money and help maintain CSI. EDITED TO ADD: Maybe you could find a platform for the legacy threads and the new posts where the search function works.

Respect starts at the beginning of a relationship..............and you are so down to earth it is a pleasure for me to about face and fire up the ole Sonar again!!........and move the 'wanna be' replacement DAWS to one side after months of sufferance. I'd love a forum that is not part of a larger community.
Also, if you freeze and archive this, please spend an afternoon working on a better search function. This forum's search never has worked properly.

A forum format change is welcome, as long as we keep the open exchange of ideas, and spontaneous nature that has always been the Cakewalk forum tradition here. Meng, I'm sure you realize there is no other forum like this in the DAW / Audio world . . . lets strive to keep it that way.
Cakewalk by Bandlab, Cubase, RME Babyface Pro, Intel i7 3770K @3.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77-VPro/Thunderbolt, 32GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 250 GB OS SSD, 2TB HDD samples, Win 10 Pro 64 bit, backed up by Macrium Reflect, Novation Impulse 61 Midi Key Controller, Tannoy Active Near Field Monitors, Guitars by Vantage, Gibson, Yamaki and Ovation.

I think it's a good idea. The forum refresh that happened most recently was better because it would actually save drafts and all of that nice stuff, but the search function still kind of sucks, and it's missing a lot of the things you kind of take for granted in other forum software these days. Keeping this forum archived is a great idea though, there's a lot of wisdom spread throughout the forum that we can all still benefit from.

Just 2 notes: * the majority of this community is not so young. Changing habits is more annoying with age. * Cakewalk has tried "bakery", as a replacements for the (locked) feedback section of the forum. It was completely ignored by the community.

Changing forum software is a great idea, this software suxx big time at times... (though not so bad at others) Changing forum format is NOT so good. This forum works and thrives because of the conversational aspect of thread posting. It's like one big group txt chat, and while that could be confusing it seems to work very well here. Other, more "support focused" forum formats tend to kill conversation. Q&A style was tried and failed miserably.

I think it's a great idea, with the usual couple of caveats: - As Karyn said, keep the thread structure as it is
- Lock the old forum but make it searchable (btw, a large % of the older "solutions" aren't really solutions as far as Platinum is concerned, so having access to the old threads is maybe not that crucial)
- Support for mobile platforms (IOS & Android)

I see no problem with that. As long as the existing content is not lost in the process, migrating not required as you say that would coplicate things, but at least keeping it accessible for reference purposes since it is basically a big help/support/resource container at this point.
