I have an older Rapture install and have not reinstalled it via CCC yet. I opened Rapture after the main Braintree update and the expansion pack is there...

Love what I've read, and can't wait to jump in and play. :)

I wish there were checkboxes in CCC. That way you can just pick what you want installed, hit install, and walk away. Having to hand hold CCC for multiple products is very time consuming. Patience... Patience...

This may have been asked somewhere previously, but given the surprising amount of content (you guys weren't kidding about working to make membership worthwhile!), what will the future availability be for monthly content?

I wondering about my backup strategy for all the new content here.

I'll answer for myself my questions.  I do not believe I received enough information from the announcement, but this is what I discovered.

The version of Platinum in My Accounts / Connected Products is in fact the updated. It does not have an identifier that indicates it is Braintree, and it has a January date, but it is the Braintree installer and worked.

I also needed the Anderton pack, the Boz ProChannel Collection, and the NYC Showroom Impulses.

Installing those four items caught me up with Braintree.

The loop library I have planned for the next release is smaller - about 100 MB so far. But you're going to want it

I also have a bunch of other content in various stages of completion. It's several hundred megabytes so far with more to come, so you might want to plan ahead.

I'm trying very hard not to do "me-too" content - you're not going to get loops with four on the floor 808 kick drums. I have a set called "Angel Rhythm Pads" that's quite unlike anything else. Also some Caribbean rhythms with bass, drums, guitar, and synth; great for dance music (they're the loops I used for "Maladie Du Coeur" on my YouTube channel), and a bunch of other fun things. I don't want to take away all the surprises, but it's material I've made for my own projects.

Also Brian Hardgroove has another idea for loop library and if he can pull it off, it would be pretty cool. It involves other artists so you never know, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

So yeah, there's stuff on the horizon...

I installed the Anderton update with no issue. But the BozPC and NYC Showroom files can't be opened - they aren't .exe files, and not zipped files. How do I update these? Thanks much, Shep

You should be able to install them via the Command Center. I'd check, but my DSL is down...using an AT&T MyFi to go online for now.

Be very careful of C3. I once followed someone's advice of logging out/in in order to reset a product I hid, but that was a BIG mistake. C3 has no concept of what is already installed, only what itself installed (which is wiped once you log out/in). So even if a product is already installed in a default location, it still won't pick it up. I had to re-install everything through C3 again before it would recognize it.

This also means that if you decide to install products manually because this isn't 1995 anymore and we need to specify where products get installed, you will lose the ability to update those products after the fact using C3. So once you go manual, you will need to stick with manual and do manual upgrades from that point onwards.

Because of this, C3 is quite a disappointment for me, and I'm sure for anyone else that need to specify install locations. CW for some mysterious reason ignores all requests to find out whether this situation will be addressed anytime in the near future. They will respond to other questions in the thread, but somehow ignore giving info about this issue.

Help! Sonar Platinum is crashing on start after I installed update. Anyone else having this problem? How the hell can this company have the worst tech support hours? I'm screwed! This is not acceptable!

You can always "rollback" to a previous version with C3, then call support when they're open.

BTW, I find Cake's support about the best around - just my experience.

If you read my post properly you'd notice that I wasn't saying anything bad about their Tech Support, Just their Hours. Been using Cakewalk for 17 years and yes they have a very knowledgeable Tech Support Team. But Waves Tech Support has the best hours.

scook
yes, one reason for the "Help and Tutorials" update

Not really directed at you scook, you just happened to mention that the pdf was part of an update.

Despite originally having installed the Help and Tutorial Files through the CCC, I'm not showing an update for them and I have to download over 1 GIG of redundant data to get a pdf file. The CCC sure needs some fine tuning.

Cakewalk, thanks very much for the Rapture expansion, (as well as other goodies and improvements) but why is it part of a Sonar Installer when it is an update for Rapture. It means if for some reason I should need to reinstall the expansion I have to install the Sonar update. Isn't that a bit weird?

I think we need to wait for Cakewalk to gradually give us more information on these various releases as the time for them gets nearer. We've only just had the first monthly release. We may need to let the bakers get on with their work while we explore the new goodies.

the music creator blah says:

By the point release numbers there are also updates for Dim Pro and Rapture. I compared my installed (for a long time) versions against those in my account and those in my account do indeed seem to be newer but there is no information as to the content of the update.

John,
I'm not using CCC because I need to specify where I want Platinum and everything installed.  This is why I'm asking what pieces I can install from the My Products / Connected Products section.

The Platinum installer there I'm not certain is the current Braintree release and I'm looking for confirmation from someone.  Thanks

Is this the current version to install?  Setup 21.1.0.37.002

I'm sorry Lava, I don't have all the information to answer your question. I use C3 to install the updates and don't know what would happen without using it. I can't really advise anyone how to install things while bypassing C3.
Its also is a tough time because its the week end. I hope you can get it all sorted out. I'm really sorry I can't be of help.

Best
John

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if I just want the fixes, do I download in Command Centre the What's simply named SONAR Platinum, or is it another named item. It's just it looks like a folder header and I am concerned that it will install all the content that I don't want along with it.

thx... i'm waiting for rapture to be added (the last version i have is 1.2.2.7) but dimpro still says 1.5 in my account page... however, noel's comment in another thread implies nothing to do here, so that's fine :-)

Just double click the Sonar header and it will open with the individual installers.

I think it shows differently in mine, as Dim Pro, Melodyne etc are hidden. So it opens with the Header file open. My question is though, does the header installer contain all the content of the installers within that header? I don't want any of the contents.

I am running it now and it seem to be downloading slowly, but gives a percentage of download not a size. I have no idea how big a file I am downloading. It could be 20GB for all I know!

EDIT: The installer for the update in the header finished it's stuff and the content files most still need updating. SO it won't be a bulk installer for all the content then, just the Sonar program itself
