The Sonar Platinum upgrade has been so dreadful I've gone back to working in X3 until SP is debugged. Horrendous  'upgrade' that took a nice dump on my system drive, left lots of plugins not working, and won't even detect Melodyne (on which I heavily rely) as a VST3 and hence no ARA support.

An appalling experience that has cost me many hours so far.

The main issue seems to be that you do not want to install using the default paths, and CCC does not accommodate this at present. However, many people have suggested ways to do custom installs, with the main suggestion being to download all the files, then install them manually as has been in with previous versions of SONAR. Your experience is not the norm, so hopefully the approaches others have used will get you up and running.

I've already worked out how to eventually install it where its supposed to go, and the large amount of time cleaning up after this. Details of the tests, methods, fixes and occasional ranting at  http://www.idmforums.com/showthread.php?t=136904

Command Center is an ill-conceived launch platform and SP a bug-ridden upgrade. Even installing manually does not fix issues with SP and Melodyne.

Many people use SSDs for their system drive for performance, putting applications and data on other, larger drives. Cakewalk seem to have blithely ignored that common configuration and published Command Center regardless. I saw no way to 'just download' in Command Center. The only option was to install. This product should not have been published in its current state.

Please correct your post it's spreading disinformation.

So we have your post here, your thread in the Sonar forums and another thread in the IDM forums. I think we have the message now don't you think?

You managed to snub the whole forum community in a less than ingratiating first post, which is a quite impressive feat :D

I'll leave my post there as is. If I make a fool of myself because I've missed something, I don't mind a spotlight being shone on it. You'll note from my words I was musing more than accusing and as you can see I have not edited the post.

I'll continue to check for updates or fix info on the Melodyne/SP issue. The fact it works fine in X3 tells me Melodyne is installed correctly and the likely culprit is SP. I remain adamant Command Center is not fit for purpose and should not have been released.

The fact products installed by Command Center don't even show up in the Control Panel's Programs & Features is one of the most heinous installation crimes a manufacturer can make and is dreadful gaff.

Well over here we tend to tolerate these sort of comments.

That quote "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" - doesn't seem to amount to much over there. The fact that one of the posters said I was trying to censor your opinions, another person stated that I probably deleted the thread and undeleted it, and a mod banned me as an "arse", when I was attempting to correct what you said about apparent Cakewalk forum censorship (which was unfair and entirely wrong), and then even stating that I agreed with many of your opinions in the cakewalk thread ..... really speaks bucket loads for that forum.

This Roo character doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer. No offence, but how smart do you have to be to figure out that if you're having problems with any aspect of Sonar, you come to the forum, read and ask questions? How is posting a rant about Sonar being a piece of **** and the bakers being stupid, going to solve anything?  ....... well, maybe make the poster feel important or some such thing ......

Seriously, I understand the frustration, but if the majority of installs are working fine, chances are there is something amiss with your installation or your computer. Seems that would be the place to start looking. This forum community will bend over backwards to help those in need. But you have to ask.

BTW Craig, my installation was one of those "boring" installs.

Re: New SONAR "Braintree" Release now available 2015/03/08 21:52:04 (permalink)
Just an FYI - there have been a few annoying people on the forum who claim to be "EDM" artists. The only links they've posted to their music are apparently to cover versions of John Cage's "4:33."

However, please don't let these people give you the wrong idea. I've been working in that genre for several decades, and overall, people who do dance music, as well as DJs, tend to be very open-minded and technically savvy. DJs welcomed my jamming with on them with guitar (and not just because I could sustain notes over a transition LOL), and real EDM musicians are always probing for new sources of inspiration. They are hip to the ways of computers and work within their limitations instead of complain about them - they're not part of the "poor craftsman blames his tools" syndrome.

Fortunately clouds do have silver linings and one of the comments in one of these posts gave me an idea for how to create the ultimate kick drum generator. It's really quite cool and will be given to members, but I wouldn't have come up with it if someone hadn't complained about something that "didn't exist" in SONAR. Well maybe he didn't see it was "hiding in plain sight," but it was, and we all will benefit. Well, maybe not all, but at least I don't need to look for kicks any more.

I would strongly suggest that you contact our support department. The last contact we had (that I can see) is from Oct '14.

Support is built into the price of the software and they are here to help users with these types of configuration issues.

FWIW, personally I use a 250GB SSD and 1TB HDD. I install the core application and the majority of the smaller audio plugins through C3 on the SSD. Otherwise you won't get the performance benefits of the SSD.

I then set my project drive as the 1TB. If I choose to install Synths (Dim Pro), I'll set them to the 1TB via the manual installer.

This setup grants me quick core app updates via C3 (I'm updating daily due to dev releases) while placing large sample libraries on the cheaper platter drive.

Too much going on. Hard to focus. I hope my Octa-Capture works.
I wish CCC would list all the things that are in My Account. I wish they would work with third parties to include other commonly used VSTs such as IK stuff, BFD stuff, and whose ever stuff will work with them in CCC... that would be awesome. Not necessary but cool.
I know, I expect too much, just the stuff in My Account would be nice and maybe a way to scan my computer (with my permission) for VSTs and list them in CCC. Just everything in one place would be nice.

Maybe Thursday I'll have time to do more...

Hi Julien...

The octa should work just fine. Out of curiosity, do you typically run ASIO or WDM?

Yeah... Some day we'll be completely connected... With the good and bad that encompasses! ;-)

I hope the Bakers find a way to keep the full records in the online account... Access us so common everywhere it's safe for me and reachable from anywhere...as the world continues increased online life... Why not?

As to C3? I think mostly i'd lime to see the bundles broken down more into smaller modules... As well as more control of install destinations and the likes for those with the need/desire...

Heres hoping you get some play time soon...

It's raining and pouring obstacles and problems for me as well as so many right now... Many thanks to all those who find ways to help others while running their' own personal obstacle courses!

ASIO, sorry so late. Forgot to check back...

Hi!

I went into my Sonar X3e Studio yesterday and checked out the Command Center.  This was the first time so I downloaded it and installed it but when I ran it it told me that there were no products.  I never bought anything from Cakewalk other than the DAW and does this Braintree include updates that are not the kind that have to be purchased (ie version updates, etc)?
Thanks!

Keni

ASIO, sorry so late. Forgot to check back...
J

Hi Julien...

Not late... There is/was no deadline! ;-)

Have you tried using WDM? Personally, I prefer it when I can, but some products have better ASIO drivers than WDM... So testing both is helpful...

As to listing plugins... Bitflipper just made a little program available to us for doing this... Here's a link to the thread and download link... It's a very tiny program...

Re: New SONAR "Braintree" Release now available 2015/03/15 13:18:46 (permalink)

Thanks!

John B.

Did you mean SONAR X3e Studio?

The new Command centre only cover the most recent release of SONAR which has dropped the numbering, the versions are now called either SONAR Artist, Professional or Platinum.  None of the previous versions of SONAR Xnz are available via the CCC though they are available from you store account.

Just a little feedback. I totally overlooked "Braintree" dismissing it as a new product, not a Sonar update. I had to read a few threads before I realized it was an update to Sonar, not an update to an add-on called, "Braintree".

is there any way to download my products without command center? I can't get command center to open anymore. This happened before with my upgrade to windows 10. I used compatibility and set to windows 7 which worked for a time but something happened yesterday with either a windows upgrade or sonar upgrade. Now I've tried everything and I give up. I just want to download my stuff some other way.
any ideas.
Thanks
I have.

It's generally best to start a new thread rather than bump an unrelated old thread.
When you say "I can't get command center to open anymore. " can you tell us please exactly what happens when you try to start it.

Strangely I just experienced this for instance:

Thanks..
