Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk] Let me clarify, you get one year of updates (or 12 months of updates). It's not 12 updates. FWIW, it could be more or less than that in a given year.

Yes yes... you got me, Dave. Sorry I don't pay attention to marketing crud. So apparently they at some point have said they'd make monthly releases. Just goes to show I'm happy enough without it. The real question is... why, since you seem to despise cakewalk so much, you continue to use their product? And more importantly why you feel the need to tell us all about it in the most ridiculous ways you can conjure up?

I'm only check my CCC every 30 minutes or so. But I know there will actually be a big letdown after I download Manchester because I'll have to wait another month before the next update. Of course it will take me 6 months to actually use the new features in last months' update!

Last time I checked, we have been releasing updates every month. In addition, there's a 14 day grace period for the first year so everyone will get Manchester who purchased in January 2015. So technically, you got Allston - Manchester. That's 13 updates. As for the language, we release updates every month. You get free updates over the course of one year (or 12 months). I find it interesting that we continue to debate whether we are delivering what we said when I think we have been pretty transparent about plans and delivering on a monthly basis consistently (like we said).

Given all the work that's been done this past year, yeah, I think it's safe to say that Cakewalk has most definitely delivered. More work to be done? Sure. But - and maybe this is just because we get continual updates - it sure feels like Cakewalk accomplished a lot more and evolved SONAR much further this past year than they had previously with the typical yearly update.

WOW! So Andrew, if I understand correctly....if my subscription expired on 01/16/2016, when Manchester is released next week ... I can still download it and launch Sonar Plat from CCC, I will have a fully functional Sonar Plat updated through Manchester forever...even if I do not re-up my subscription? (but I will, and before March 31st!) That would be awesome, as I don't have the funds to re-up for a few weeks.

Hum? Who said there was a debate? I thought I was helping you make your point... unless what you said in your original post is not what you meant... ??? and you mean what you said after? AND it would have been nice to tell everyone that there is a 14 day grace period instead of posting said post.... It's almost like you where bating me... if I was a paranoid person... well that's a whole other issues... but now we seem to agree that 12 months is 12 months like you.... said? and as far as the 1st update.. are you saying that you are justifying not giving an update this month because it's the 13th month or are you saying your original post was right and we all got the 1st update and that counts as are 12th update? and now CW decided to be cool and give us a 13th month free? ALSO this is something you could have said instead of all that mombojumbo of the original post... OH yeah! a bakers dozen!!! lol Cakewalk just should have said what was what in the 1st place and not beat around the bush.... unless? Well my Splat says update 11 (LEX) I just figured that everyone of importance was at NAMM so the release was held up :) reality is an illusion so what's the problem? lol

The software is not the company... Yeah, I have been mad about at a couple of updates but the backers fixed my issues.. I have said it before "this is not a cult group" but here, there is a cultish element that go off the deep end to join in to defend a marking campaign anytime someone says anything questionable about the software or the FEW backers that come here... I asked about the update days ago with NO real reply... Why? Members are watching their days count down with no update and with no real reply. yeah some are here to defend CW but others are too intimidated by the "Cakers Cult" to say anything... I can also tell the difference between the Bakers and the Marketing department. I also must admit that the only reason I got this version is because I wanted to see if it was too good to be true. GOOD DAW!!! Cakewalk corporation?

Sorry I didn't see your question. I try to reply as much as I can to help folks out. You indeed will be getting the Manchester update. You can check your membership end date in your My Account page, which is the most accurate. I see it in there as 2/5/16 so you are all set. Typically we don't announce the exact dates of releases until we know definitively as customers can sometimes get upset if we tell them one date. It will be early next week though.

Um, yes? Unless the CW programming staff all went on holiday since last month, I think the intent is that Manchester will be released next week and contain some fixes. All we can do is wait and see which ones.

You folks make the fixes sound so arbitrary..... You don't think they have a huge MS Project file going with numbers, priorities, and difficulty? or the equivalent surely.... Here is a clue, well way more than a clue. They have a plan and we don't know the internal specifics, but actions speak louder than any words, and they have delivered big time......... They should get an award.

Hi Dave, I'm not sure why you're so mad at us, maybe I can try to help and offer to shed some light on what really goes on at Cakewalk. Dave000 The software is not the company...
The software is the company. We don't do anything but software there is no voodoo marketing department. The marketing guys sit literally in the middle of our office 10 feet from the developers and 10 feet from product support. I asked about the update days ago with NO real reply... Why?
I just searched our support records and perhaps you used a different email address but I don't see any support or service emails. We can't actively monitor every thread and question on the forum and we have tried with stickies to explain the best way to reach us. We're not a huge company. I believe that Andrew or Craig recently posted a preview of what is coming in the Manchester update. I can also tell the difference between the Bakers and the Marketing department.
How so? I can't and I've worked here for about 9 years. The guys that write blog articles and web copy also answer the phones. The people that QA and develop software also write blog articles, tech tips and help out support with customer issues. Anyway - on to your issue and the confusion. Here is what happened: a handful of customers that redeemed retail copies in January 2015 did not automatically have the 14 day grace period added to their accounts that we had planned on doing for the first year. This is why we thought your date was valid through February 5th. This isn't a marketing fault, its a developers fault. The voodoo marketing machine didn't do it, a human forgot to type the number 14 in a single place. Specifically myself or Ryan screwed it up. The good news is that its just been fixed for you and the other 172 users that were in this state. yeah some are here to defend CW but others are too intimidated by the "Cakers Cult" to say anything...
This is a user community, not an official venue for support. A buncha musicians with a common passion helping each other out. Maybe you don't agree with everybody or think some of them are a bit weird but name-calling and 'community bashing' is probably the fastest way to get them to not help you. If you need help from Cakewalk, simply call us. If you need help from the folks here, start by being nice and not telling them their part of a cult. Nobody was ever successful selling double-cheeseburgers in a health food store.

Are you telling me that Mcdonald's isn't a health food company ? After all these years I finally find out the truth. I can recall reading about a 'Grace' period in the past, so it's not actually something that has been just dropped on everyone. 11 updates, 12 updates, 21 updates, I think it is still a bargain, more so if you got it at the sale price. I moved away from Sonar 6 or so months ago, but still check in to see how it is going, and renewed my Subscription Membership for another 12 months. I checked in for Lexington, but found as some others have that performance had seemingly took a step back not forwards, then again there are also a lot of people who have seen the performance benefits, so . . . I can understand what the dude above is saying about the 'cultish' feel, you do see it a lot when someone says something that is not flattering about Sonar, often they get jumped on by the overzealous, and I guess that is human nature, plus the fact that this is a meeting place for Sonarites, but it is not a good look IMO. Sonar doesn't have to be, or appear perfect, and it isn't, nothing is, and if people have issues and opinions they should be able to express them (done right, and that doesn't mean it has to include arse kissing) without being pounced on by the hoards of overzealous who feel they must jump rightly or wrongly to Sonars Defense at the slightest sign of decent . Don't take that to literally, as in, yes I know it doesn't happen all the time, but it does quite a lot, and when people just quickly jump into defensive mode with big long diatribes and if's and but's and changing tac, to me it's a sure sign that somethings not right in Texas. Anyway, despite the fact that I have moved away, I still update, still check in now and then, and I think that Sonar is a quality product, and I hope that whatever the performance issue that I and others are seeing under Lexington gets fixed, and I also hope that somewhere down the track Sonar gets something like the Bakers spin on Studio Ones arranger track and scratch pads ( and a couple of other things, but that would do fine ). Bake on.

It should be noted that Dave is the "gentleman" who created multiple handles last year to troll the initial release of Sonar 2015. He spread disinformation, personally insulted forum users and the Bakers (in really nasty ways) then taunted the Bakers by stating he could create as many handles as he wanted (to continue trolling and bashing) by switching IPs (because he was just that smart). Once the Bakers (who are obviously rather clever themselves) pinned down exactly who he was he started screaming foul and that he was being "abused". He slowed his roll a little for a week or so then disappeared. Now he shows up every couple months to post something semi obnoxious but just believable enough to snare some sympathizers. From there it generally devolves into absolutely ridiculous and childish insults and accusations coupled with self aggrandizing nonsense. Think "Godparticle" on a crack binge. TMYK...

And as I stated, multi handles because I was attached and bullied, by the WE ARE NOT A CALT FOLKS.. ;)(along with others) because of what we all thought about the subscription or membership... as it starts again as you all live in the past... and as you Start to jump on the Willy bandwagon this time. AND call me a troll AGAIN and it is still acceptable for refer to the troll mentality! and if know one gets that it's NAME calling... But like Willy said "there is NO name calling here" To willy, I can see myself and others over the last two weeks that people have asked about the update... and by saying that you see that I had not asked unless I was someone else... well then you admit holding out and NOT telling at least others what was going on... to be honest... you HAVE changed how the wording is now in the membership from "12 monthly" months of updates to "12 months of updates" as Andrew was fumbling to explain. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong on this and that it's still 12 monthly updates. "updates every month". otherwise... It looks like (in my option) that something fishy was afoot... and well you may have a point if you don't have a real marketing department situation simply by what I see here... oops human error... abort abort... Frankly I was one of many who got Sonar 15 the day it came out to the public and there was a valid NEED to explain that we would all get the 14 day grace maybe within the Manchester announcement. But now its a big oops again, AND I might add that the something happened last year with the confusion about a "subscription" that turned into a "membership" AFTER myself and other "TROLLS" pointed out that your wording was unclear... Now if you want to say that CW is a great run company, then you have "no oops" OR if as I just said.. Cakewalk Company??? and (NOT HATE BTW) not so good in my option... you can't have it both ways... I have been using Cakewalk along time, I still have my 12 Tone midi software... I would LOVE to say the software is great and it is moving ahead of the pack and that CW is a great company~! but oops with updates and oops with notifications, and oops with marketing.. Tells me that something is wrong and CW seems to be unstable. That's just how I see it.... ??? I know its friking hard to get this software to work, NO PROLEM if it gets fixed. I want Cakewalk to be on top!!! I hate people running the other way when I say I use Sonar! I wonder why Splat not number one, because its NOT the software.... Willy it's everything else that you said, now that you don't have what I assumed Cakewalk had... Do you think I'm the only one who sees what CW has done in the last few years... BUGS left hanging in version after version abandoning your customer base time after time and squeezing another $99 to $150 to get the next best CW software, stringing them along time after time. I got X3 pro in the spring of 2014, and it was obsolete and abandon within months. Now you have Splat... The Monster DAW from Olympus!!! and CW can't even market it without looking like... WELL Cakewalk.... oops! This and everything I say is my own option and could be 99% crap on a different day... :) Peace to all.. I don't hate the people here I am just annoyed when people can't see what's in front of them... lets see a raze of hand... How many of you said that I was wrong and we already got our 12 updates or that our 12 months worth of updates, and came down on me and others ONCE again???? Praise Marty Moose!

Wow. Willy must have hit a nerve. Your whole last post was mostly 99% crap, so must have that different day heh? You mean, what YOU perceive as to "when people can't see what's in front of them" don't you? No? Thought not. That's the problem with people like you. You think you know better than everyone else. Then you resort to abuse when you don't get your way, or people to bow to your 'superior' intelligence. I couldn't give a toss as to the semantics about the number 12. The simple fact is we get a bargain with Splat, more so than any other version, more so that any other company currently offering this level of DAW. This might be just my opinion but I think it's one hard pressed to either argue with or ignore. Obviously you agree or I could not possibly begin to understand why you here? But you are here, and getting answers, very good answers, from people who work within the company. Highly unusual in itself. Yet you bait with more negative response. That's TROLL behaviour mate, whether you like the term or not. If you don't like the deal, take your 13th update and pay no more. You get to keep it all, forever. Only wish this would happen with Adobe. Then, find a better DAW, with a better deal, with less cultist's. Good luck!!
