hey Steven! It looks like all the modules can collaps - like the tracks are in Track View - maybe that will work well for the "lo-rez" people? EDIT: Never mind, looks like others are more patient at reading than I am Thanks for that John And John T

MUSE Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] MUSE It's a basic feature that should have been in it all along (in fact we were told it would be) - no way am I upgrading to Producer and then Expanded, when I do not need all the other things, just for this Muse, I understand how you feel in that you want to stay with Studio, but just have an expanded version for Studio. I think its a great idea, but I don't know if its going to happen being that the ProChannel is tied to Producer and that the ProChannel is such a big part of Expanded. I'm not sure how the other, Studio friendly features of Expanded, would make it into Studio and/ or Essential, but I imagine some of them will eventually. I'm also not sure where we promised that the Browser would be able to have files dropped into it, but I could be wrong. If that's the only feature of Expanded that you;re interested, maybe its best to wait and see what happens? If you put all the features together, though, its a pretty good deal, IMHO. SP I don't care about Pro Channel anyway - don't need it. I just want browsing to work the way it should have from the start - particular an easy way to replace instruments in a track - it has always been more complicated than in most DAWS to replace instruments in a track anyway, especially with the instrument tracks, this is a basic feature that should have been attended to as part of the regular update cycle not as an addon bundled with stuff I don't need and that I have to pay twice for As much as I understand your desire for said features (and it's not my intent to seem flippant), drag and drop replacement of synths was never part of the X1 spec nor was it promised as a feature.

Brandon he is right about Studio though. There should be a means for X1 Studio users to get those new features that would apply to it at a price that is in line with the Studio version. I think it would go a very long way toward user happiness and good will and not seem as if CW is making Studio users get Producer. Something to think about.

dgrm44 (not sure what Vista/ Win7 have to do with any of this) SP Seth, Im sorry that you don't understand what I mean. I think a lot of your users do understand....maybe that is a core issue Cakewalk is now having. Your not "in tune" with us as you once were. But maybe this can be corrected moving forward. I don't know, but I do hope so. For the record, I don't understand your point about Vista / Win 7 either.

How about this idea: Make Softube saturation as a vst version for Studio and Essential users to buy (maybe even locked if you want it to be Sonar exclusive). Muchos dineros coming in this way (compensating longer developing cycle) and it´s very useful for S. and E. owners.

Not exactly replacing a single plugin but its a step in the right direction. Full synth replace is something we definitely have planned. Its easy we just don't have enough hours in the day to get to all these details. Now when is somone going to write a real time expansion plugin? :) " It was much easier to replace plugin instruments in Project 5 (which I crossgraded from) than it still is in Sonar X1 after many updates. The current method of replacing plugin instruments outmoded and clunky. To have this now planned but only as premium feature when it is available across the board in comparable apps like Studio One is a bizarre decision and very unfair to Studio owners who up till now had equivalent functionality to Producer but just lacked extra plugin and mastering features (things not needed by everyone) - there should not be disparity in basic tasks like this.

Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] Chregg i requsted that when you draw in automation, the nodes snap to grid, i also asked for true stereo inputs coming from reason ( as 3/4 mix, 5/6 mix) better support for automating reason devices in sonar, i can only ever get automating the first instance of a reason device, like the cut off on the subtractor, you load a thor in, even on the fist instance , set it up in sonar to automate, and it wont automate any parameters, and any instace after that, and wholistcally just keep on improving on the stability and engine of the app Gotcha, I wasn't aware of those issues as I am not a Reason user, so I just don't have inside info on that stuff. My guess is that when Re-Wire becomes x64 then maybe we can look at cleaning some of that stuff up. Stability and audio engine, however, are things we're always working on. SP Chregg, I've been campaigning these Rewire issues for quite some time, and WRT to the true stereo issue (which affects all Rewire slaves not just Reason) and Sonar have acknowledged this in a bug report which states this has been 'submitted to development'. I'm hoping too that the upcoming 64 bit Rewire changes will see the fixing of this long-standing issue. In any event Reason 6's imminent combining of Reason with Record will provide much more scope than is available already.

Can we expect that Sonar X2 will include X1 Expanded features? :) I mus say, I like this new approach of adding new features to Sonar. Updating the core app with free bug fixes while adding new features as paid "extensions". It sounds good to me. And I am really looking forward for the prolonged development cycle of new iterations of Sonar. It seems that is finally listening what their user have been asking for a long time. Fingers crossed. :) However, I think, the extensions should really focus only on new features, rather than bug fixes. For instance, X1 Expanded brings new features to PC but also fixes things in PC. The fixes should be definitely available as a free update for X1 users who do not want the additional PC features but want (and deserve) ProChannel bug fixes.

@ jonbouy, what am taking about is on cakewalks onus, in ableton if you are re-wiring and your are going out of 3 left/4 right in reason, the audio track gives you the option of 3 left (mono), 4 right (mono) or 3/4 mix (stereo), this is what i want to see instead of having to create 2 audio tracks in sonar, panning them accordingly and inputing the audio from each out in reason (3 left/4 right) to the 2 audio tracks and then route them to a bus, is it that much to ask for lol

Apparrantly it exists because there is this discussion, where is it? Probably right in front of me but I cannot find it.. Julien

OK, it says coming soon... is it available? I went to page two (find a dealer) I chose one, Sweetwater, and it is not listed on their site. How did anyone know about it? It is not listed in announcements, it is not listed in the sticky posts (that I can see) and I did not get an email after making a point to find out why I was not getting emails and I signed up to get them? Is there a club? Sorry, but it bothers me a little to see something and have to dig to figure out what it is and where it is. As a user and customer I think I should be notified about things like this. Julien

I new they were gonna add modules to the Pro channel from recent post months ago, never new this soon, I really like the Idea, It looks as if Templates and screen sets will be use alot more . Such a great workflow saver, a delay module as they have in fruity loops, just hope we dont get generic fx's/parameters, a freeze button such as in NI GR 4 would be nice on a delay module. The one thing that bothers me is I have to wait :( I want it now.:)

damn, I wish they'd add modules to this forum software. I lost a post last night when it closed unexpectedly! I hadn't noticed they'd added scroll. Makes sense, I bought a new large monitor that would fit the Prochannel easily. But all this stuff looks pretty good and Cake is doing this smart. Do some work, add some fixes, features and a couple of toys and charge a minimum amount. Get a lot of bites on it and the fixes/features go into the next upgrade - weather a free point upgrade or paid! Makes the longer development time (1.5 years) between upgrades affordable for them and us. People that don't mind paying for some extra features get them early. I like the idea of the expandable channel strip, too. 3rd party-ish. Interesting upgrade model that seems to work for both Cake and us. @

Available? "Coming Soon" so I assume not. Yeah, I was confused. I thought I read an earlier post where someone downloaded it. I'm sure I misunderstood... then the next page went to a dealer page so I was confused... all is well. I read te other thread and Seth's post near the end re: CW's intentions really made me happy with them. I really like the Roland R-MIX too. It looks like a LOT of fun. Anyway... thanks. Julien

Did someone say ProChannel scrolling? Vernon btw- thanks again CW for not implementing iLok! That would be the kiss of death for me.

Chregg sorry but am not impressed at all, this should be part of an update or something, £35 for a minor upgrade, which this is all its is !!! +1 paying extra for what is little more than a couple of new features is not on....esp when there are bugs that need fixing more important than new bells and whistles.....same old same old - add new features (&new bugs) for $$$ before fixing the existinmg product.
