Looks really interesting, but I'm actually already running X1 on a machine with specs below the minimum (without performance issues) so I'm not sure my aging DAW is going to handle it.

Are you using Balance as well? I am on Windows 7 home premium yes. When I called support on this issue the first time they had no idea what Balance was or Propellerhead for that matter. It was very disencouraging to say the least but I called last week spoke with a guy named Dan who had been helping me via e-mail support (though sometimes waiting over a month to email me back) and apparently this issue will not be fixed in x1. I am definately demoing X2 first but if these issues are not fixed I am highly considering going Studio One 2 Professional with a crossgrade rather than Sonar X2 Producer Expanded which is where I will likely go if I upgrade with Cakewalk. I love the Cakewalk plug ins and have not had a single issue with those in any environment I have tried them in.

I'm using the art usb..  its a piece of work..  I'll say that.   Most of audio dropouts come from A.  Having a frozen rewire synth that has not been deleted.  B. having any sort of anti-virus/spyware/malware/firewall running the background.  C. not having certain, "extra windows services," turned off.  D. not having a proper configuration of drivers ( in both sonar preferences and windows control panel )

When I have this stuff set up proper..  I get a rare audio dropout here and there.

What's your entire setup look like?  Asio -- latency?  Control Panel? got some jpegs of your settings?  and your windows startup?  whats in there..  finally, who does your anti-virus?  mcaffee?  norton?  spybot?

Cheers

too many lasers...

I should hope we get a free update for x1ExpD (ExpE I presume) before we get X2 as X1ExpD has SOOOOOOOO many loose ends. If so, I will be happy to continue to pay and upgrade to X2. I support companies that support me.

You can rest assured that X1 is now (essentially) a legacy system and no update to it will occur (ever).

The big features for me are:

automation lanes
low latency audio engine
improved smart tool
enhanced time ruler zoom
replace synth
touchscreen support

BTW Windows 8 just went RTM. Sonar X2 with is gonna be sweet on a touchscreen laptop.

That console emulation looks like a load of fun. I am wondering what the new model is if I remember right the current ones are a neve and a ssl in producer right? what is this A model?
I have Slate VCC and the A console in it is the API.

The SONAR console emulation is going to have to be pretty bada** to slay the Slate VCC. 2¢

Am I seeing something that looks like some sort of theme builder?  I'm not gifted in that sort of thing but I do enjoy the efforts of some of those types with another DAW platform.  They come up with some great looking stuff sometimes.

I'm not surprised to see some people happy about the automation ends... tho I am FAR from being one of those...

I'm hoping they include an option to use the "old" one-lane automation or the new multi-lane...

For me this was a bad choice if it's forced and I'm sure it was in an effort to improve on the myriad of issues many of us have with X1's envelope system...

I'm almost blinded to the many other improvements as this one is so central to my work and has been hurting since X1's release.... Now to get "worse" for me...

Plugins are always fun but as things improve in technology, the many plugins I have area already all I need... But the loss of work-tool-situations is killing me.... <sigh>...

I'm again a very unhappy Sonar user...

Automation lanes are an option in SONAR X2. You can still use X1 style automation as you always have. In SONAR X2 you have the choice of using automation on top of clips (using Edit Filter) or using automation lanes. You can change at will at any time.

What I find truly interesting is that they seem to have killed off Expanded. It looks like one Pro Channel for everyone, and back to 3 versions in the good, better, best format. Thank goodness that nonsense may be coming to an end. And good on them for putting some work into the existing 64 bit plugs.

Brandon! Thank you a million times over!!!

Now I can hope that the Edit Filter issues that were talked about have been addressed as welll? Pop-up automation envelope names when not yet in envelope edit mode? ...or maybe better/easier-to-see colors for the envelopes when not the center of focus?

Some of the tools have been very handy such as the easy creation of 4 nodes to quickly create an envelope-area....

Now I can relax and look at the many interesting things I see in X2... You've aleviated a lot of my anxiety very quickly and I can't thank you enough for not keeping me waiting to find this out.... Rant over (at least on this topic! ;-))

Now I hope I can get back to touting Sonar over everything else as I always did before X1! tho I admit there are a number of things in X1 that I do enjoy, my work is much slower and more frustrating than in 8.5.3 and I believe that it I didn't like the PC and the wonderful new plugins you've created for it, I may still have stayed with 8.5.3..... I curious trade-off...

Even using Sonar Plus, I still fight with multi-dock issues and keeping the Browser un-docked as I prefer it.... but I'm hoping these were 1st release (new UI) issues and hopefully tightened up in X2....

Now I'm getting excited (in a good way!)

Much thanks once again.... You and the other Bakers are always so on-the-case and easy to talk with as well as maintaining your cool when users rant (such as I find myself at times)....

Keep up the great work!

Keni

Wow! Great job Cakewalk. I'm excited about a lot things with X2. More so, I really appreciate you sharing info early on like your doing. Is it me or is this a new marketing approach? Seems to me Cakewalk in the past has always been too secretive until right before the launch. Maybe my memory fails me but either way this approach it is going to serve you well.

All the best...
